Survival of the fittest?

Survival of the fittest is a wonderful way to gamify your classroom. Students work in small groups to earn supplies that will help them survive on a deserted island. You decide how long each sessions lasts, and how the students will earn the supplies. I originally created this during the height of The Hunger Games craze and the idea is loosely based off that scenario. One issue that I've always struggled with is how to grade students on group work. Survival of the Fittest answers that questions. Students' grades are based on their individual work, but their progress in the game is based on the group work. This gives the students incentive to work together, while keeping their grades individual. Survival of the Fittest is a super fun game that a whole class can play to review for a test. Students write their own questions the night before so teacher preparation is minimal! I have been playing this game for years and my students LOVE it. The day of the game, the class is divided into two teams who compete against each other to see who can outwit, outplay, and outlast extinction! I play this game with my middle school science students, but you can use it for almost any subject or grade level. This game has tremendous value because it can be used over and over again! Unlike other games, Survival of the Fittest can be used with any unit that you’re teaching! Your 13-page purchase includes: -Teacher Notes -Question Sheet -Team Rosters -Tiebreaker Sheet -Game Accents* *Game Accents are entirely optional and non necessary to play the game.
