This is a traditional Peranakan 'filigree' design, the delicate open pierced work is a blend of ethnic and Victorian motifs. Set with old cut diamonds, this dainty bracelet is considered simple in its motifs, the underlying alloy is solid yellow gold though this has been plated a rose gold. Also known as Nyonya , Nonya, Peranakan, these particularly decorative wares were in demand in South-East Asian Chinese communities from the mid 19th century onwards. They are actually from the Chinese ceramic production center of Jingdezhen, made for the SE Asian market.
