Fresh Wild Harvested British Soldier Lichen from our private woodland property in Maine. Open the bag and experience these amazing little gems that will never fail to make you appreciate the sheer brilliance of nature. We love hunting for these little guys. Harvested in small batches, it takes a keen eye to spot these in the wild. They look a bit like tiny red flowers with their bluish-green stalk and bright red "caps". Typically around. 1/4" to 1" tall, they are found in the hidden corners of the forest. At the base of an old fallen tree, under the leaves on the slope of a rocky hill or sprouting from a tuft of moss, finding them always feels like finding buried treasure. Lichen have been around for more than 400 million years and are truly fascinating. Simultaneously an algae AND a fungi, they are uniquely adapted to surviving harsh conditions. You will receive sections of beautiful British Soldier lichen attached to the substrate on which it was found. This could be soil, bark, twigs, moss or even stone. They arrive in a 4"x6" ziplock and bring an awesome splash of color to any terrarium. They don't need watering very frequently, but when you do water them, the color really pops! Typically ready to ship within 1-2 business days (weather dependent) Shipping is absolutely free.
Anemones are lovely small bulbs and are often underestimated like a little treasure. They are excellent for ground cover and a good choice for woodland and rock gardens. The foliage is low-clumping, but the blooms are very colorful. Anemones are widely available at retail nurseries and mail-order catalogs in mixed colors. However, anemones in single colors are unique and eye catching, as they make for striking color displays in the garden. We have identified this color to be special. These enchanting dark garden earrings feature flowered black pewter watering can charms, rich with vintage style detail, and lever back ear wires make for secure and easy wear. Slip out to the garden - or anywhere you need a little botanical bliss - wearing these elegant mixed metal and vintage glass earrings. The glass is a swirl of subtle shades of purple, framed with finely made dark metal accents. All the details: *Earrings measure 1 and 1/2 inches from the base of the ear wires *Ear wires are made in the USA of lead and nickel free antiqued brass *Genuine American pewter watering cans have a blackened copper plating; they are hollow at the base to reduce the weight of these charms that are a bit heavier than the common lower-quality pewter *Vintage glass beads are a swirl of darkest purple and soft periwinkle, in a unique flower shape *Other metal elements are brass with natural patina, or dark silver plated finish. My carefully curated metal components are made with intentional patina; that rich variation in color you would find in lovingly time-worn, vintage jewelry. All of my designs are created with a passion for quality, precision, and color. If you have any questions, please send me a message. There is a treasure trove of wonderful designs in my shop; feel free to take a look, and enjoy. Thanks for taking a look at my creations! ~~~My Shop Policies~~~ *Shipping* I will ship your order out within 1-3 business days of your purchase. I am not able to bring packages to the post office on Sundays and holidays. You may select Priority Mail shipping option in checkout, for faster delivery. Please check the estimated arrival dates, to see if it makes sense for your purchase. Jewelry items are already made, unless indicated in the listing. When possible, I reuse packing materials to help reduce waste. Your jewelry will arrive in minimal, nature-inspired, eco-friendly packaging. Great for gifting, or a special experience for yourself! *Care* Your jewelry has been carefully crafted to last a lifetime, and be handed on to others. Some materials may be naturally more delicate, such as fine chain or pearls, and should be treated with greater care. Please put on your jewelry after applying scents, lotions, or other products, to prevent build-up on your jewelry. Keep a soft, lint-free cloth (such as a piece of a well-worn cotton tee shirt) to gently buff off sweat, dirt, water, etc. Avoid showering/swimming/heavy workouts with your jewelry on, and avoid immersion in water or other liquids, as this may cause corrosion; some liquids will cause a reaction with metals or stones. A soft-bristle toothbrush (dedicated to jewelry cleaning) or a slightly damp cloth may be used to clean more stubborn dirt and debris. Avoid storing jewelry in humid environments (such as a bathroom), if possible. Storing your jewelry with a desiccant packet in the provided box will help prevent moisture damage and tarnish. If you should ever find that you no longer use your jewelry, please don't throw it away! It is made with collector's quality materials, which will increase in value with time. Please consider passing it on to a friend or family member, donating it to a good cause, or gifting it to a jewelry artist, to reuse the materials and/or be inspired by the design. *Description/Photos* Unless otherwise noted on the listing, every jewelry item is already made, and the listing photos are of the actual item you will receive. I use a penny in my photos to indicate size. I will adjust photos to give a more accurate depiction of colors and details, if needed. Props used for photography are not included with your purchase. If there are multiple versions of a jewelry design, I will number them in the photos. De-stash supplies (of which there are multiple different bags) may have a representative photo of the contents of one bag, to give an idea of what you will receive. This will be indicated in the description. *Materials* I strive to combine quality and affordability in my designs. I use a wide variety of collector's quality beads and components, including vintage beads, Czech glass, Swarovski crystal, handcrafted beads by individuals artisans (these may be ceramic, glass, metal, etc.), freshwater pearls, semiprecious gemstones, wood, bone, and an array of durable metals. Many of my metal components are made in the USA, and any domestic or imported components must meet my high standards for quality. I use brass, pewter, copper, steel, and other durable alloys. These may be professionally plated/antiqued, and this will be be indicated in the listing. Plating is high quality and durable, but it may show wear with heavy use. Since my metals are intentionally antiqued, any wear blends smoothly with the overall aesthetic. If I use precious metals in a design (such as sterling silver or gold filled), this will be indicated in the listing, and will naturally affect the cost of the jewelry. *Custom Orders* I currently do not accept custom orders, although there may be exceptions for people I know personally. I may be able to make slight adjustments on an item already made, depending on the design structure. This might include length adjustments, or switching the clasp from right to left. Please contact me prior to purchase to discuss possible alterations. *Problems with Order, Refund Policy* Please carefully read the descriptions and look at all the pictures, as they are there to give you an accurate image of the product. Please ask questions you may have before placing your order. If there are any problems with your purchase, such as damage during shipping, etc., please contact me as soon as possible so I can help you reach a resolution. I truly want you to be thrilled with your purchase! You may return the purchase for refund or exchange (minus the cost of shipping) within 14 days of receiving your order, and you will be responsible to pay for the cost of return shipping back to me. Her post tells how she got the mulch for free. I'm dreaming of... raised beds, arranged with a plan in mind, in an enclosed area to keep out deer - and it should be pretty. I can't remember my source for this picture, but I'll keep looking Here's another good wonderful example found on Home Design Decorating. ... and another found on Sunset. Beekman 1802 has a ton of ideas about Raised Bed Covers. I am really enjoying browsing their site... lots of good ideas! Also from Beekman 1802 - a post on trellises I'm dreaming of... fun, interesting, pretty trellises. Here's a good one found on Garden in a Minute's Flickr page. Lots of people sink PVC pipe in 2 or 4 spots in their raised beds to use as trellis supports. I found this example from lantanascape on Garden Web. Her trellis is made from electrical conduit. This one is at the Ash Lawn home of our 5th president, James Monroe. We may need two entrances. Of course Martha Stewart has gardens suitable for anyone's dreams! Her fence would certainly deter the deer . Raised Bed / No Till Gardening: "Soil compaction can reduce crop yields up to 50 percent. Water, air and roots all have difficulty moving through soil compressed by tractors, tillers or human feet. Plows, tillers or spades are the usual answers to this problem. But gardeners can avoid the problem by creating beds narrow enough to work from the sides. Organic matter can be increased greatly without getting bogged down, because raised beds drain better." Planting a Garden the No Till Way - from Jami at An Oregon Cottage "...I have very few weeds the entire remainder of the season. Honest! I don't need to cultivate, I never have any problem finding the seedlings because of weeds, and I can leave for a week and not come back to chaos." Raised Bed Vegetable Garden Design and Planning - Vegetable Gardening Online No Till Gardening - Oregon State University "...the no-dig method... Build Your Own Raised Bed Garden - from The Pioneer Woman "...I have raised vegetable beds around my house, and I love them so much I add a couple every year." A Simple Raised Garden Plan - from Raised Bed Gardeing Blog "...Raised beds produce a variety of benefits: they extend the planting season; they reduce the need to use poor native soil; and they can reduce weeds if designed properly. Since the gardener does not walk on the raised beds, the soil is not compacted and the roots have an easier time growing. The close plant spacing and the use of compost generally result in higher yields with raised beds in comparison to conventional row gardening." Block Style Layout in Raised Bed Vegetable Gardens - Colorado State University Raised Bed Vegetable Gardens - Squidoo "...it is relatively easy to attach a framework of flexible PVC tubing to a raised garden bed over which you can place either clear plastic to create a greenhouse effect to extend your growing season even more, or some netting to prevent pests from getting to your vegetables..."
