Look at this! Posting two days in a row! I don't know what has gotten into me :) Actually, I do. I opened my email this morning and read something that I just HAD to share with you. If you have been following me for a while, you know that last year I had the amazing opportunity to use The Walking Classroom with my students (click here and here and here to read all about our experience with it.). It truly was (IS) an exceptional program and I couldn't say enough about it. My students gained so much from using the walk kits and heading outside to do our lessons instead of sticking with the same old routine indoors. They instantly loved the program, and so did I. (I can't wait to get back in the swing of things when I got back after my maternity leave!) Luckily for me, I teach 5th grade, which just so happened to be the grade that the lessons were aligned to. Unfortunately for many of my readers, there was no 4th grade kit written....UNTIL NOW!!!! Laura Fenn, the founder and creator of The Walking Classroom, has just made the 4th grade aligned Common Core curriculum kits available to everyone! So 4th grade teachers, here is your opportunity. Go to The Walking Classroom and sign up for a grant for one of the classroom sets. Or, if your school is looking to invest in an amazing program, the kits are 20% off until Dec 31! I know there are quite a few of you who have recieved the grants for your room. How is it going?? I would love to hear your experiences, as I am sure others would too! Oh, and just in case you were wondering, no one asked me to post this. I remember how many 4th grade teachers inquired about it last year so, when I saw the newsletter this morning, I just had to share :)

Howdy! I am Mr. Greg from The Kindergarten Smorgasboard. My real name is Greg Smedley-Warren. I have been teaching for 11 years. I spent a year teaching fifth grade, two years in second grade and am now in my 9th year in Kindergarten. Kindergarten is my passion and my calling but honestly, that wasn’t how it started. When I was moved to Kindergarten (not voluntarily!) I called my mommy and cried. But on the first day, I fell in love and knew that Kindergarten is where I belonged. I have remained in Kindergarten ever since. I plan to never leave the classroom as the kids are what drive me to continue my growth as a teacher and person.
