4th grade social studies and Texas history interactive notebook activities for teaching about the Revolution and Texas Republic. Includes INB pages for a variety of topics including the Alamo, important people and documents of the Texas Revolution, causes and effects of the Texas Revolution, and more! Try before you buy. Download preview to see ENTIRE product! Preview has 4 pages tiled on each page and a watermark. The full download includes 19 pages including student sheets, photos of models, and teacher's guide with answer keys. DESCRIPTION INB activities can be copied at 70% to be placed in notebooks. Students should use their textbooks or other resources to learn the information prior to completing the activities. I have used these pages with chapter 5 of the 2015/2016 textbook “My World Social Studies: We Are Texas” published by Pearson, but the information is available in most 4th grade Texas history books. Because our brains like color, I ask students to add color to their work. Completed models are shown full size so you can see the details. The following activities are included in this download: *IMPORTANT PLACES OF THE TEXAS REVOLUTION—Copy this page front and back. Have students cut around the edges (black lines), then cut on the dotted lines to fold the flaps over. They will then write details about each location under the flaps and draw a symbol to represent what happened there. Finally, have them place the numbers on the Texas map to show the location of each place.. *STARS OF THE TEXAS REVOLUTION—Students cut out the descriptions of the different “stars” and match them to the names, gluing them in place. *IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS OF THE TEXAS REVOLUTION—Students cut out the descriptions of the different documents and match them to the names, gluing them in place. They then draw a symbol or write a 3 word definition to help them remember that document’s purpose. *CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF THE TEXAS REVOLUTION—Students cut out the cause/effect squares at the bottom of the page then sort them into the correct categories and glue them down. *SNIP-IT PEOPLE, PLACES, AND WORDS--There are 4 of these, one for Conflict Leads to Revolution, The Alamo, Victory at San Jacinto, and The Republic of Texas. Each page contains important people, places, events, and words from the chapter. Students cut and paste to match the word to the description, then draw a symbol for each thing. SUGGESTIONS FOR USING THIS PRODUCT *After reading about different events, people, places, and vocabulary, students can complete activities. *Snip-its pages work great for homework and review before a test! *Can be placed in a station during language arts or social studies. *Encourage students to use their textbook to locate information and allow students time to talk and work with a partner as they learn about Texas history. TOPICS IN THIS DOWNLOAD *Important places of the Texas Revolution including the Alamo, San Jacinto, Goliad, Gonzales, and Washington on the Brazos *Important people of the Texas Revolution including James Bowie, William Travis, Erastus "Deaf" Smith, Sam Houston, Susanna Dickinson, and Stephen F. The student understands the importance of the Texas Revolution, the Republic of Texas, and the annexation of Texas to the United States. Travis, James Bowie, David Crockett, George Childress, and Sidney Sherman; Tejanos Juan Antonio Padilla, Carlos Espalier, Juan N. I believe children learn best when presented with smaller chunks of related information, so I have selected the most important and relevant pieces from these standards as the focus of these activities. Refer to your textbook adoption for more information. DISCLAIMER As a Texas teacher, the products I make are designed around the standards for the state of Texas, known as the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and are carefully crafted to help students be successful on the Texas STAAR test. I use the challenge of the TEKS and released STAAR assessments as models to guide me when putting together lessons and materials for students. Thus, I am careful to post products that, in my judgment, address those standards. I am not affiliated in any way with these entities and any and all claims of alignment are my claims, not those of the groups behind the TEKS or STAAR test. Some of my TEKS-based products also address standards from other states, the NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards), or Common Core and related standardized tests. For these products, I include the standards in the description. I am not affiliated with these entities and any claims of alignment are mine. Please contact me if you have questions.
