It is guaranteed to add a touch of romance to your wardrobe:) An easy and fast knit with a great result! Construction This top features beautiful lace-patterns for the hem and the center front and V-neck. It is completely seamless. To take advantage of the beautiful Old Shale pattern of the lower hem the top/camisole is worked bottom up and in the round to underarms. From underarms the back and the left and right fronts are worked flat and in separate pieces. Shoulders are worked together using the 3 needle bind off method (unless you are very clever and use the Kitchener method or grafting….).Stitches are picked up around the neck and the armholes for working a narrow edge. Sizes There are 10 sizes to choose from. Finished bust circumference, after washing and blocking: 78.5/83/87/92/96/101/105/110/114/119cm = 31/32.5/34/36/38/40/41.5/43.5/45/47”. Finished length goes from 55cm/21.75 for the smallest size, to 61cm/24” for the largest size (Length might be adjusted).. Materials Yarn: I used a fingering weight, pure linen to work this top; “Kalinka” from Karin Oberg. This yarn comes in skeins of 100gr/3.53oz and 320m/350yards. You will need 2/2/2/2/2/3/3/3/3/3 skeins of this specific yarn. Linen is gorgeous to wear and it ages beautifully. You might substitute it for another yarn quality that knits up to gauge. I recommend that you use a yarn of natural fibers with a great drape and stitch definition. Needles: circular needle, 80cm/32” long, 3mm/US2.5, for the lower body. You can use the same circular needle (or straight needles) for the upper back and fronts. A small circular needle 40cm/16” for the edges of the neck and armhole openings. Notions: separate holders, stitch-markers, blunt tapestry needle, blocking tools.’ Gauge 24sts and 32 rows = 10x10cm/4x4”. Please note that this is of the washed and blocked swatch! If you work with cotton/linen/bamboo it is worth thinking about that these materials grows after washing. The pattern All measurements are given in cm’s as well as in inches. All necessary stitch-counts are given. The lace-patterns are charted as well as written out row-by-row. There is a schematic. Knitting skills Techniques involved: picking up stitches, 3 needle bind off, working lace following a chart and/or written instructions. Abbreviatins used are k, p, ssk, k2tog, yo, m1r, m1l. ERRATA (concerning the free downloads only). Size 3: 103 sts for back (not 105) Size 10: 142 sts for back (not 143) Upper back, decrease rows: work until 4 sts rem in the row, k2tog, k2 Bind off for backs neck: bind off 31/34/35/40/39/42/45/48/47/50 Written instructions for fronts centered lace: Round 1: sm, k until 8 sts before the center front: sm, k1. k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k2, sm, k2, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k1, sm, k until BOR Round 3: sm, k until 8 sts before the center front, sm, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk, k1, sm, k1, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk, sm, k until marker 3, sm, k until BOR Left and right fronts = inverted
There is also a child version of this pattern: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/tanne-in-child-s... If I didn’t love to read as much as I do, I would probably knit and design double amounts of what I do today… But I love to switch between the two. When working on this sweater I was reading a book written by one of my favourite authors; Karen Blixen. I had to force myself to continue the knitting, her books are the kind that you cannot put aside.. Her nick-name was Tanne, and I hope she wouldn’t have minded me naming my new sweater after her. Design and stitches This sweater has everything I want from a favourite sweater; lots of interesting stitch-patterns, broad ribbing, saddle-shoulders for a great fit… a neckline that could be worked low or high. And, due to all the different stitch-patterns it was fun to knit! There are double moss-sts, cables, eyelets, twisted sts and clusters… Sizes Finished chest measurements are: 97/105/112/120/127/135/142/150/158 cm = 38/41/44/47/50/53/56/59/62”. Sample is made in size 1, with approximately 12.5 cm/5” of ease. I recommend 0 - 5” of ease. Or maybe oversized… Materials Yarn: I recommend a worsted weight yarn with great stitch-definition that knits up to gauge. I used Lark from Quince & co., in the colourway “Audoin”, to work my pullover. This worsted weight yarn comes in skeins of 50 gr/1.76 oz, and 123 m/134 yards. Of this specific yarn you will need approximately 1200/1280/1400/1520/1620/1700/1820/1940/2120 m = 1308/1395/1526/1656/1765/1853/2114/2115/2310 yards. Needles: you need a circular needle, 80 – 100 cm/32 -40” long, size 4 mm/US6 to work the lower and upper body, a set of dpns’ size 4 mm/US6, or small circular needle to work the sleeves. You need a circular needle, 60 cm/24” long, size 3.5 mm/US4 to work the ribbed neckline. Gauge 21 sts and 30 rows/rounds in double moss-st = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4” The pattern All stitch-patterns are charted, as well as written out, round-by-round, except for the double-moss which is written out only. There is a schematic All measurements are given in cm’s as well as in inches. All necessary stitch-counts are given. Knitting skills: there are no difficult sts involved. However, since there are patterning all-over, I recommend this pattern to knitters with average, and above, knitting skills.
