Hi everyone! Welcome to the next stop on the Bunny Trail. (and if you missed the other stops this week, click on the bunny below to go to the beginning!) This post will be short and sweet, as today is moving day in my household (yay!!!) and my keyboard is packed away (thank goodness for touch screens!) I have a fun little math page for you today. It is a "secret code" page, where the students use order of operations to solve the puzzle. My students always enjoy these, and I thought yours might too. So here you go! I told you, uncharacteristically short and sweet ;) And now on to your next stop, Kim at Finding Joy in 6th Grade. Notice how the button is purple? It matches Kim's blog perfectly! Oh, and for those of you who saw this earlier but were directed to an unfound page...you can thank the touch screen for that mistake ;)

Would you like to decorate your classroom with fun, hand-drawn anchor charts/posters? Do you simply not have the time to get them done? Well, you have come to the perfect place! I love making these engaging and appealing anchor charts. I also can draw/create any other topic you would like, just contact me directly and ask! My students absolutely love these posters and references them every day. Many of them are visual learners, so the colorful images really help them connect and remember what they have learned. This particular anchor chart is for readers/writers practicing prefixes and suffixes. It helps students see base words and adding prefixes/suffixes to them. The pug puppy helps my students see the separation of the base words with their prefix/suffix and they have so much fun with it! It will be approximately 32 x 24 inches, and will be a copy of my original. **These will be copies unless asked otherwise for a custom poster. They are not laminated, and are printed on normal, anchor chart paper. I ship these out ASAP after being ordered, but please keep in mind once shipped, it is outside of my control. Therefore, if shipping does not meet your expectations, I highly encourage you to please reach out to me first, and we have always been able to work something out to make up for anything that may have occurred after I have sent your package, thanks so much!! Hope you love it :)
I can’t take any credit for this cute idea for contractions. I found it in an old mailbox magazine. We have been focusing all week on contractions with not and we will be testing over this on our unit 4 test next week. I thought this was a good, creative change for a lesson. The kids really had fun making the kites. I think their favorite part was being able to hang them over their seat. I’m pleasantly surprised that no one had tried to swat at them. So far so good! If anyone has any cute ideas you use for contractions please share. We seem to test over this skill a lot, so new ideas are always a plus. I posted a link under the pictures for the kite patterns. Good Morning and Happy Saturday!! I sure am happy it's Saturday..this was an exhausting, yet busy week! Today I'm linking up with Doodlebugs Teaching for her Five for Friday! We've been hard at work researching and taking notes for our big Endangered Species Research Project. The kids are SO Excited and get so upset as they are learning more about why these animals are critically endangered. If you're interested, you can find these note taking pages along with the booklet we plan to use to present our final project with in my TpT Store. We've also been working on linear measurements this week. Third graders are required to be able to measure object to the nearest one-fourth inch. We've been practicing a lot with worksheets and measuring things in the classroom…. BUT what better way to practice measurements than getting outside and having some fun?! I invited some 6th graders to come in and teach my class how to make paper airplanes. The kids were so excited and it was also a great way for them to practice their listening skills! We then headed out to fly our planes and measure the distance that it traveled! If you'd like to try these activities out with your students, you can click on the image below :) Be sure to follow me on Instagram or Facebook for more fun updates ;) Also got to take some time out for some fun this week! We got to meet up with some friends from Washington. They're visiting Hawaii so we met them for some Happy Hour :) She is a second grade teacher…our classes were pen pals last year! We're also continuing to work on poetry and figurative language. This is always a tough one but fun at the same time. So far, we've covered simile and metaphors, alliteration, idioms, and onomatopoeias. I'm kicking myself right now because as I'm scrolling through my photos I realized I only took pictures of our alliteration pages! Landan the Lizard lights a leaf Marry the monkey makes a monster with a magical science kit Emmeline the elephant loves to eat eggplants everyday. Ayven the alligator loves to eat apples any day he sees one. Jayde the jaguar got a job at the jungle's Jamba Juice. Pretty Pam made chicken pot pie with pickles and peas. We're also did a science experiment today. The kids were so excited learning about the scientific method. Thats my week in a nutshell! Hope you enjoy your weekend :) I'm off to finish some work I had started throughout the week…and hopefully get a new Facebook Fan Freebie posted for you all sometime this weekend ;)

I am obsessed with escape rooms! They are so much fun! I wish that I could do one every day. On my spring break trip to Atlanta I was able to do three in one day and it was super exhilarating! Before my state test I decided that I wanted to do a fun review game for my kids and decided to try my hand at an escape room. It took a lot of trial and error, but it was a MASSIVE success. I decided to share my escape room plans with you as best as I can in case you want to try something similar in your classroom. Step 1: The days leading up to the escape room I rolled a suitcase around with me (You will see why) Step 2: I broke the students into four groups Step 3: I created a newspaper article that informed students that I was taking over the world and handed one out to each group. Newspaper Generator Step four: I hid a card in my miniature file cabinet that said, "Don't just stand there in limbo, take a look in the classroom window." Step five: The first set of clues to decipher that opened the Word Lock was hidden behind a book in the window. Figurative Language Word Lock Clues Step six: Inside of Lock #1was the POV clues POV Directional Lock Step seven: Inside of Lock #2 was a set of UV flashlights and 4 pieces of seemingly blank paper. Once the UV lights were turned on students will find a number on each of their pieces of paper. This opened the lockbox. Step eight: Inside the lock box was four ziplock bags with puzzle pieces and a short story for each of the groups. The students need to read the short story and then put together their puzzle. One of the puzzles will have the correct symbol answer written in UV pen, the other three will be distractors with penalties. Symbolism Door Lock Clues Step nine: Each group will get a reading passage with multiple choice questions. Once they finish the passages, if they answered the questions correctly they will get their groups number to contribute to the final lock box. Reading Passages Lock Box Step ten: Students open the suitcase and thwart my takeover! Some pictures of my students completing the tasks Supplies I used (Click on the pictures) (3 boxes)

This hands-on seed dispersal project had an interesting beginning... Once upon a time, our third graders planted seeds every spring and we watched the Brassica plant change through its entire life cycle- including pollinating them with dried bees. This was always my favorite day of the year! I would hint to my third graders that the "bees
