This eye-catching poster clarifies the differences between the uses of the Spanish verbs Ser and Estar, which both mean "to be." The poster is very handy for those teachable moments when you need to explain different usages of the verbs. It contains the mnemonics DOCTOR and PLACE, the present tense conjugation of both verbs, and the classic quotation by Guillermo Shakespeare "Ser o no ser, eso es la cuestíon." The PDF is poster sized and made to be printed at 24" x 36". You can print this out on a poster printer or you can use Adobe Acrobat's poster print function (you find it when you open the printer dialog) and piece it together. If you would like YOUR PHOTO at the bottom of the poster instead of the dashingly handsome model, contact me and send me a photo. I would be happy to put you into the poster for a small fee. (I will set up a special listing for you.) How to Print a Poster on a Small Format Printer: *I highly recommend using a dedicated poster printer for the best results. Check with your school district’s central office or local public library if you don’t already have one at your school.* This method will print the poster in tiles on multiple sheets of smaller paper. I highly recommend printing this on cardstock. 1. Open file with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (free program) or Adobe Acrobat DC (pay program). The Preview app on a Mac will not work for this. 2. Open the Print Dialog (File > Print…) Mac (⌘ + P) Windows (CTRL + P) 3. Select Poster under Page Sizing and Handling (newer versions) or under Page Scaling (older versions) 4. Make sure that Tile Scale is set to 100% and set Overlap to .5 inches. (This will make it easier to put together after printing) 5. Click Print. 6. Cut off white margins (I would use the large chopper in the teachers lounge or a craft paper trimmer) and assemble with transparent tape or glue. Remember that there is a .5” overlap, so it’s okay to cut into the printed area. Also, if you plan on laminating the poster check the width of your laminator before completely assembling the posters so that you can laminate it in multiple jobs if necessary and assemble it after it’s laminated. 7. Display posters prominently and enjoy! If you liked this product please check out my other posters, games, and flashcards in my store. I love producing custom work, so if you see anything in my store and would like customized with particular artwork or text, put into a different language, or produced in a custom size LET ME KNOW! I am so happy to be back linking up with this fabulous idea. My bright idea is to give you my top 5 EASY ways to implement formative assessment in your classroom. As teachers, we are all usually very good at summative assessment - that is, assessment of learning, where we check to see if our students are reaching certain goal and standards as set by the curriculum. But we need to become better at formative assessment - that is assessment FOR learning, where we are more able to support students through the learning process and make adjustments for each individual. This week we started to learn about informational writing. My class LOVES nonfiction so I knew they would be excited about this unit of study. Finally, they get to write about animals, plants or weather!! We are learning about Ladybugs. Our class project was to write about Ladybugs. We created the RAN chart above (Tony Stead/Linda Hoyt). We shared our thinking on a Voice Thread about Ladybugs. We went on a great Ladybug site that gave us lots of information. I actually learned many things I didn't know about ladybugs. We read some great books about Ladybugs. Anchor Chart I love how this anchor chart came out! All of the illustrations are made by the kids. Whenever possible I always want to see something made by kids rather than store bought! For the last week, we have been learning all of the things above. In the past, I have always made it optionally for kids to write ALL About books (Lucy Calkins). This year I kept the model from Explorations and had all the kids work on a Group Write. Quick Thought I decided to provide more scaffolding for students for the class write. You will see below that I created a template that made it easier for kindergartner. It made it MUCH easier for the group!! Ladybugs eat aphids. Can kindergartner's write a table of contents on their own? YES YES!! I put a blank page after the cover. The kids did great with this task of adding the Table of Contents after the book was put together. I LOVE the kid writing! labeling your ladybug Ladybugs can be different colors. Ladybugs get together in the winter. Ladybugs can be fun and when you be quiet they come. Ladybugs can bite it can be painful. Ladybugs are poisonous. When ladybugs are young they are larva. Next steps, students are working on their own informational book. We will use some Thinking maps to gather information. I can't wait to share next week. click here for Ladybug report Fonts by KG (pg 1-6) Frame from My Cute Graphics
