This is Karen’s Norwegian Star Quilt and it is a pattern by Marie’s Quilt Designs. Karen was able to find the same fabrics as on the pattern cover and I just love this quilt! I did a panto design in the centre, called Bora Bora, and custom quilted the borders with loops, snowflakes and bead board. I used a soft blue So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting. I seriously need to make this quilt as it looks so good in my guest room!
Our guild is having a retreat this coming weekend so I am getting a few project ready to take. I loved the Butterflies quilt pattern by Laundry Basket Quilts the first time I saw it and had to make it. I used batik fabrics from my stash and spent the weekend tracing and cutting out the butterflies. My husband even joined me at the kitchen table and traced about half of the butterflies for me! I have all the blocks fused and ready to applique down at the retreat. The one thing I’m trying to decide on is do I embroider the antenna or drawn them on? I embroidered a few already but I wasn’t enjoying the process and my friend Ardelle mentioned she just drew hers on. I’m liking that idea more and more! I have all 30 blocks ready to applique down with invisible thread at the retreat. That should take me awhile. See my post on the finished quilt here!
Shelly made this delicious quilt called Creamsicle, makes me think of hot summer day by the lake! The pattern is in the book Simple Color - Orange by Vanessa Christenson. Shelly is on a mission to use up her stash one colour at a time and this is the perfect pattern for orange. She asked for simple custom quilting and really wanted it quilted like it was in the book. I tried to convince her to let me quilt few feathers on there but nope, she is a modern gal so I did my best to make sure she was going to love it! I made a few changes to the quilting in the books sample to add my own touch to it! Here is a picture of the books version below. I changed out the cross hatching to echo quilting and added a double line in the petal. There are a lot of stops and starts to this style of quilting but so worth it! I used off white So Fine thread and the QP Curve 20" template for the curved quilting. I really want to make an orange quilt now, how about you?

This is Debbie’s Turning Twenty quilt and it is made from all plaid flannel fabrics. She made if for her husband and was intended to be birthday gift two years ago, well we all know how that goes! So she is hoping to give it to him as surprise for his birthday next month or give it to him sooner as they just purchases a cottage. I think this would make a great cuddle quilt for their new cottage! I used Dream Puff batting and brown So Fine thread on top and golden Bottom Line on the back. The panto is called Bushberries and I think it really looks great on the flannels! Debbie also send me a sweet wall hanging and the pattern is called Fairhaven by Villa Rosa Designs. I used Northwinds for the design on this one.
Voor deze opdracht vroeg de opdrachtgever een ouderwetse kinder bedstee te ontwerpen in een modern jasje...
Vicki made this striking Smoke and Fire quilt which was a pattern in Fons and Porter's Quilting Quickly magazine July/Aug 2015 edition. She used a great mix of black and white prints with the perfect pop of red. I quilted it with the Gingersnap pantograph, light grey So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.
