A wide plain, where the broadening Floss hurries on between its green banks to the sea, and the loving tide, rushing to meet it, checks its passage with an impetuous embrace. On this mighty tide the black ships-laden with the fresh-scented fir-planks, with rounded sacks of oil-bearing seed, or with the dark glitter of coal-are borne along to the town of St Ogg's, which shows its aged, fluted red roofs and the broad gables of its wharves between the low wooded hill and the river-brink, tingeing the water with a soft purple hue under the transient glance of this February sun.
Some stories deserve to be told in a whisper. Tales of hidden flower kingdoms on the edge of a river bank, where caterpillars dance with apple blossoms and fairies fly on butterfly wings. Such are the tales woven by 19th century children's book pioneer Ernst Kreidolf, whose meticulous watercolours f
The tale of how the elephant got its trunk is one of the most beloved of the Just So Stories Rudyard Kipling wrote for children. The insatiably curious elephant's child peppers every animal he meets with questions about the mysterious crocodile who lives on the banks of the Lompopo River. When he finally meets the crocodile, he nearly becomes dinner. This rollicking story and Jonas's Laustroer's vibrant art have the makings of a modern classic. Full-colour illustrations

This large artwork is an early work from the figurative, symbolist artistic period of Françoise Duprat. It depicts a blue-haired woman looking in a large mirror, dressed in blue, with mysterious eyes, leaning on the back of a chair. Behind her stands a large stone pot on a pedestal, with pink flowers and fruits. In the mirror, a white Venus statue with no arms or head is standing in the middle of the room, the floor being a checkerboard, and the opposite wall figuring or being a view of clouds and sea. The artist impasto technique is light, with textured painting and a few small reliefs. This artwork is not framed. Françoise Duprat is a French artist. She learned art at the Atelier Met de Penninghen and Jacques d'Andon (now known as ESAG Penninghen), installed in the mythical Académie Julian, and she is a graduate of the prestigious Académie de la Grande Chaumière (where studied also Joan Miró, Alexander Calder, Louise Bourgeois, Jérôme Savary, Zao Wou-Ki, Amedeo Modigliani, Tamara de Lempicka, Alberto Giacometti, Balthus and many other great names of contemporary painting).

Get here a large view! Tarascon, sometimes referred to as Tarascon-sur-Rhône, is a town and commune in the Bouches-du-Rhône département, in the south of France. Tarascon is located 23 km south of Avignon and 20 km north of Arles, on the left bank of the Rhône River. On the other side is the similarly sized town of Beaucaire in the département of Gard, région of Languedoc-Roussillon. Directly opposite each other and connected by several bridges, Beaucaire and Tarascon effectively constitute one town. The construction of the current castle of Tarascon was started in 1401 by Louis II of Anjou, after the previous castle was destroyed. The construction was continued by his first son, Louis III of Anjou, and was completed in 1449 by his second son, René I of Naples. Thus, the castle is often referred to as le château du roi René ("King René's castle"). It was turned into a military prison in the 17th century, until its acquisition by the state in 1932. It stands right on the banks of the Rhône opposite Beaucaire Castle, and near the Collegiate Church of St Martha. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
