Everyone loves a little bit of pizzazz on special occasions, and these swing cards are just the thing to spice up your gift-giving. They are relatively easy to make and amazingly versatile when it comes to sizes and shapes.... you can even buy dies that will cut your entire swing card, fancy shapes and all! Today, though, I'm just going to show you how to do-it-yourself with a basic rectangular swing panel on a square shaped card. SWING CARD TEMPLATE 1. Start with a piece of cardstock measuring 51/2" x 71/2". 2. READ THIS INSTRUCTION CAREFULLY FIRST, THEN FOLLOW THE TEMPLATE ABOVE... Place the cardstock horizontally on your score board. You will be making four individual score lines - two at the top that are 1" apart, and two at the bottom that are also 1" apart. Each score line needs to be 11/2" long. As you can see in the photo below, I use a ruler as a guide so I know where to stop the score line. Start by scoring your first line at 31/4". It should only be 11/2" long measuring from the top of the cardstock. Now make another line in the same way at 41/4". 3. To make the bottom two score lines you will need to do the same thing, but measure 11/2" up from the bottom of the cardstock. Make your third score line at 31/4", and your fourth score line at 41/4". Refer to the template above. 4. Use a craft knife or trimmer to cut the swing panel. (Refer to the template for placement and length of cuts.) The first vertical cut is 21/2" long and starts 13/4" from the left hand side of the card and 11/2" from the top. The second vertical cut is 21/2" long and starts 43/4" from the left hand side of the card and 11/2" from the top. Now you need to cut horizontally from the top of the first vertical cut to the top of the second vertical cut WITHOUT cutting between the score lines. Do the same for the bottom section remembering not to cut between the score lines. Your card should now look like the photo below. 5. Fold and crease along the score lines. The card base is now complete and the centre panel should swing as it is opened and closed. 6. To decorate, cut some patterned papers for the inside of the card, removing the sections around the flip panel. You'll also need two panels for the swinging section of the card... one for the front and one for inside. 7. Stamp and colour the two image panels as desired. 8. Now adhere all the papers and panels in place. Remember to fully OPEN the card to place the inside panel. 9. Close the card and adhere the front panel in place. 10. Add any additional embellishments as desired. Stamps:
Welcome to week 1 of the Heart of Christmas Blog Hop for 2024. Each week until the end of November on a Monday, members of the Art with Heart team will bring you some Christmas inspiration so you will be ready with all your Christmas cards, packaging needs and decorating inspiration in time for Christmas. This week I thought I had better start with a fancy fold. If you were playing along at home last Wednesday with out Bubble Bath Colour creations blog hop I let you know that I was trying a card and I had tried a couple of times and couldn't stick the landing. I had watched a couple of different tutorials on this particular fold and still couldn't make the fold work just right. Well I found yet another tutorial and using different measurements I think I have finally scored! Today my fancy fold is called a double swing fold card! I have made a single swing fold card before and you can find that one here for our Summer Splash colour creation blog hop. The reason I think I manage to get this one to work finally is because this was made with a piece of card stock 10 x 6 inches rather than the 12 x 6 inches of the 2 other tutorials I had been watching or maybe it was the person giving the tutorial. Laura Stranks from Brisbane! I have used a card base of Mossy Meadow and layered with Very Vanilla and the gorgeous paper is the Seasons of Green and Gold Specialty DSP. When you lay the card out flat you can see all the different section. I have stamped the sentiment in Versamark and gold heat embossed. The stamp set is the Greetings of the Season stamp set and this along with the DSP is part of the Seasons of Green and Gold Suite Collection that is an online exclusive. You may notice that I have embossed the 2 side panels with the Changing Leaves Hybrid Embossing Folder. If you flip the card over you will see the front 2 side sections which I have also embossed in the Changing leaves folder but I have added die cuts from the Green and Gold Specialty DSP and a vellum leaf from the Graceful Greenery Vellum. I then gold embossed Merry Christmas on Very Vanilla and fussy cut that out. Here also on the back there is a place to write your message. I have made a little video of the card opening and closing for you so you can see the double swing card in action. I do hope you have enjoyed my first project for the Heart of Christmas 2024 If you would like any information about my project today, please do not hesitate to contact me. Now is the time to head to the next person on our Heart of Christmas inspiration journey and tonight you will be heading to Rosa Leyden, I can't wait to see what she has for us. Hit the next blog button and you will go straight there. If for any reason one of your next blog buttons doesn't take you to where you think you should go come back to my blog each week as I have the privilege to host our Heart of Christmas blog hop and I will have the list of our wonderful team members participating and you can continue your blog hop from the list. Hi Crafty Friends, Today I am sharing a fun kinetic card I created recently. This card uses the Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott's Swing Boat die set which is part of her Fun at the Fair Collection. A little while before Christmas, Sam Calcott did a Facebook live where she made a Christmas themed card using this die set. During the live Benita Lundgren mentioned that she had made the swing boat into a Banana Boat, this sounded interesting so I decided that I would make my version of this eventually. Here is a quick video to see my card in action. I wanted a monkey that I could put in different positions on my card and wasn't either too big or small. I used the Monkey die set from Elizabeth Craft Designs, the banana die is also included in this die set. I added the palm tree branches to the top of the card, so it did look like the swing was in a banana tree. Here is a view of the back of my card. I used the "It's your Birthday" sentiment from a sentiment set from Made To Surprise Terrific Towers Collection. I then added the "Go Bananas" using Karen Burniston's Mini Alphabet and Numbers die set. Other Supplies: Palm Tree Die - MFT Stamps (retired)

Happy Sunday! I hope you have a fantastic day! Today, I have a Double Swing Fancy Fold Card. It is very easy to create and you can actually use one base to create 3 different Double Swing cards and you don't need any cutting dies to make it. To decorate my cards, I used 'Christmas Vintage Postcards' collection from Relatively Thoughtful. Have you ever created a swing card? Happy crafting!
How to make a Flip Card. How to Make a Swing Card. How to Make a Flip Flop Card. Whatever you want to call them, they are super quick and easy to make with the new Card Thinlits Dies.
This double swing card is a showstopper. It is the perfect handmade gift for a family or friend to feel super special.
How to Make a Swing Card Free template below Both written and video instructions are below. This is a swing card that is setting open showing the same card from 3 different angles. This card was made using two sided, printed cardstock. It will fit in a standard 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" inch card envelope if printed out exact size from my template. To the right side is a photo of a card that was made completely filling the template in with computer graphics before printing. (The graphics are from Bird Life, available at PCCrafter.com) The hardest part of making this card is measuring the cutting and folding lines. With the template you don't have to do any measuring at all just print, cut and fold. The lines on the printed template will not detract from the beauty of your card. Template below Instructions under template. *Note:: If template appears to large on your 8.5 x 11 inch page, reformat image to 300 dpi as that is what most of them are saved as. 1. Copy template and open on an 8 1/2" x 11" page. 2. You can either print out, exact size, on double sided card stock (below on left) or fill with computer graphics (below on right) or a combination of both. (Even when I print on printed card stock I usually put the greeting in one of the panels.) 2. The two smaller panels at the bottom are sized to be matted and used on both sides of the swing door. If you want to resize them by making them 1/2" larger (that's 1/4" on all sides) they can be used as under mats instead or you can delete them completely. 3. Cut out the card and mats. 4. Cut the lines on the inside of the card see Fig. 1. If you pivot your craft knife at the corners, you will have a smoother line. I cut right down the middle of the lines. 5. Now, you need to score your fold lines, With a clear ruler line up against the edges you just cut and score from the cut line to the edge of the paper. Do Not score through the door panel. See Fig. 2 below. Score only where the lines look blue in the example. There are not any score lines on the template as they would show and are not needed. Just line up the ruler to the ends of the lines that you just cut. 6. Fold the left side of the card toward the back and the right side of the card toward the front and lay it down flat. (see example 3) 7. Use the panels to mat or decorate the card. FYI: I use 12 x 12 double sized scarpbooking card stock which I cut down before printing. The left over piece is useful in decorating and double matting the center panel. Below is the Swing Card how-to Video. Venetian Blind Card A card that has a window shade you can pull up to reveal your hidden message. Below is a video on how make the card. If it doesn't work the link is at the bottom of the written instructions Written instructions below. This is just a quick card I made to double check my directions. It's not really hard at all, especially if you use the template I'm providing because you won't even have to measure. My template makes a blind that fits a standard small card (4 1/4" x 5 1/2" with the fold at the top). Here is the template and printable abbrevated directions. Full instructions with photos below. 1) Fill template (fig 1) or cut a piece of card stock 7 1/2" x 4 1/2". The template allows you to chose a graphic and print out the hidden part of the message. I choose a pretty print scrapbooking cardstock, cut it to 8.5" x 11" piece and print the filled template out on the back. You could also print on plain card stock and decorate the blinds yourself. (I put the white square in just to save ink) 2. Score all dotted marked lines. Fold card at solid line. (fig 2) 3. Open card and begin at bottom, fold on all scored lines. With the lines facing you, fold the red lines up and the black lines back in an accordian fold. Fig. 3/4. Close card. 4. Cut a piece of ribbon, string or yarn about 40 inchs long. I wrap the end in tape to make it easier to thread. Start on the right side and come up from the underneath side. (fig 5) You are going to thread in and out all the way up, I found you can fold the accordian and just push the ribbon through all at once pretty quickly. (fig 6) 5) When you get to the top go across and down the left side the same way. (fig 7). 6) Now, you need to thread the end through the back left hole, (fig 8) across the back, and up the back right hole. (fig. 9 below) 9) When you come up the right back hole go right back into the front hole where you started and go all the way back up, across and down again. (fig 10) you can still bunch it up and do it all at once. (fig 11) 10. Now you have your blind, with the hidden picture below it. 11. Mount the blind very firmly on heavy card stock. This is important. Pulling the blinds open pulls on the card bottom and it needs to be firmly atttched to a base. It's ok to glue the bottom ribbon to the base, it doesn't move. 12. Mount the panel to a card. 13. To open pull ribbon out to both sides at the same time, do not pull down. I add a note to my cards on how to open. Hi friends, this weeks Sunday Surprise are these fun Open Diorama Swing Cards. I made these during a craft along with 10 Made To Surprise competition winners. I love using these adorable critters! …

Buon lunedì a tutti! Giorno di tutorial oggi e, con un reportage fotografico degno di un matrimonio, eccomi pronta a spiegarvi come realizzare una card simpatica e d'effetto come questa. Come appare all'esterno Come appare all'interno Che ne dite?

It's the end of August so I have the last of my August Creative Cafe' Kit of the Month projects. This month's kit from The Rubber Cafe' is called Farm Fresh and it is full of bright, fun, papers, glitter, the "Home Grown" stamp set, and great embellishments. For today's card I used the add on set, Farm Fresh. This is the Swing Card that I created. To Create this card start with a 5 1/2" x 6 3/4" panel of red cardstock. Use a Scor-Buddy to score at 2 3/4" and 4". Score on both sides down about 1 1/4". Then I cut the rectangle shape so that there was a 1" border around the edge of the panel. Fold the right edge over on the score lines. Fold the left side underneath the card on the score line. Unfold so the panel lays flat and then add patterned paper from the Echo Park Farm Fresh paper pack using Scrap Happy Glue. Trim two patterned paper panels slightly smaller than the center rectangle. Decorate the two panels with images, sentiments, and red pearls. Adhere the back panel to the flattened card panel with Scrap Happy Glue. Adhere the other panel to the other side of the card with Scrap Happy Glue and the fold the card back up. Add a bow and you're all done! A fabulous fun fold card that will be perfect to thank that special someone! Here's a closer look as those yummy looking strawberries. And...a final look at this fun Swing Card. I hope you enjoyed today's Creative Cafe' Kit card! Thanks for stopping by!
