{still white} working on Tutte modellate a mano, senza progetto né disegno, con la tecnica a lastre. Una diversa dall'altra, tutte di forma irregolare e col bordo ondulato, in semirefrattario bianco, la mia terra preferita. E adesso, mi spetta un bel po' di lavoro, ma è quello che amo di più: decorare! All modeled by hand, without a plan or design, with the sheets tecnique. Everyone different, all of irregular shape with scalloped edge, in white semi-refractory, my favorite clay. And now, there is a lot of work to do, but that's what I love most: decorating! We proudly present a set of 3 wooden wall decors both for your home and office as this creative design will be a true eye-catcher in every kind of interior. The show wood wall art triptych is created out of different species of tree to show a diversity of wood grain and colors. Wood brings in a natural warmth and coziness to every modern space. Therefore this environmental wood wall decor is perfect for environmentalists but also for those who just feel comfortable being close to natural accents even staying indoors. The irregular shapes of wood and the unique varieties of patterns are an excellent opportunity to take a moment to relax and contemplate the artwork of nature. We believe that Nature itself creates true works of art. Our job is just to move these natural pieces of art into residential and commercial space, processing them as little as possible in order to maintain their natural quality. All we want to do is dress wood in a modern shape. In this project we aim to show a diversity of wood grains and colors. All slices are very smoothly sanded for clear exposition of rings drawing. For hours one can contemplate the unique wood patterns. The shown set is a previously ordered and sold one. The pictured panels was 51”x51” (130x130cm). The listing is for a set of 3 pieces 23"x30" (59x75cm) each panel or 25"x25" (65x65cm) pieces. We will custom make similar panels of this design. We can customize the dimensions, color (natural or warm hue), shape and even used spices of tree. Each set will be absolutely unique and never exactly the same as shown on pictures. The slices of wood are stuck to the black (or customized color) painted plywood with strong glue which give this wall hanging an aesthetic outlook. All panels come with tooth hangers attached on the back for quick and easy mounting on a wall. The process of creationing the wooden artwork. The whole process of making this unique wooden wall triptych takes plenty of time. Starting from claiming the pieces of wood from the forest to the final finishing, each piece passes through our hands several times. Each, even the smallest, piece is treated individually with due care and attention to fully bring out its natural beauty and to not interfere with its natural character. We start from claiming the tree branches from forests and orchards, then we air dry them for a period of 3 to 12 months. Afterwards we kiln dry the wood to eliminate insects that lives inside. Then the branches are cleaned, precisely cross cut, smoothed and sanded. Only now is the time to create an artwork - laying down the mosaic of slices. To prevent slices form cracking and color changing, at the very end each piece is impregnated with an organic oil. Although this process is a lot of fun, a lot of hard work is also done. But the effects are truly rewarding… We collect wood from nearby forests. We take the cast-off fragments of trees which remain unused after felling and are left to decay. Branches, crowns, roots and crooked trunks are not valuable for industrial processing but their forms and shapes make excellent material for our projects. The pieces of wood we can’t claim from the forest directly are sourced from a state governed forest. Those trees are cut down according to sustainable felling planned years ahead, so none of the trees we buy are cut down for the purpose of making our furniture. Our eco approach We stick to our environmentally friendly approach throughout the entire manufacturing process. We try to utilize the pieces of wood as much as we can. Cut-offs from large wood pieces are used to make smaller forms and decorations. Wood chips provide our workshop with heat. Sawdust goes to a composting facility to prepare fertile ground for other trees and plants. In order to keep its naturalness and freshness, wood demands the best preparations. Caring for the environment and your comfort, we impregnate our furniture and protect each piece against dust and dirt using organic oils and waxes only. We work with German Livos and Finnish Tikkurila oils which are based on natural components: linseed oil, wax, resin and wood oils. The composition of these is either 100 % organic or contains trace amounts of solvents. These oils don’t cover the wood with a chemical skin. Organic oils and waxes enhance the beauty of the wood and protect it very well. And, what is most important: organically impregnated wood does not lose any of its freshness or naturalness!

About 8 months ago I stumbled upon a very unique and beautiful piece of work on Instagram. It was a slab of wood with a map of a lake that was filled in with epoxy. At first, I noticed it was a lake here in Minnesota. I did a bit more digging to find out that Owasso Woods was located right here in Minnesota. Exchanging messages back and forth I had got to know the owner, Brad Wieck. Not only was Brad local, he lives 5 minutes from our facility! We thought it would be a great piece of content to collaborate on and build a one of a kind piece. Below is some info about Owasso Woods. window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS = window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS || new Array(); window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS.push({ hoverImage: '', uuid: 's-1c65169d-e22d-4dd5-b190-eec1b02fdebb' }) window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS = window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS || new Array(); window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS.push({ hoverImage: '', uuid: 's-067af2dd-5dac-4ee0-9fc1-569184ee010a' }) “By now, you likely know that I’m drawn to water. Whether it be fishing and boating in the summer, or skating on the frozen lake during the winter, water is special to me. I love the idea of a challenge but, sometimes a challenge is simply having an idea. I found my idea in the lakes that I love. I’ve always been someone that’s fascinated in maps and geography but, due to the barrier of water, lakes seem a bit more “out of reach” when it comes to discovery. With that in mind, I had this idea to capture the topography of lakes, and bring that “out of reach” aspect, just a bit closer to us. The Owasso Woods Lake Series are custom designed topographic maps of the lakes we know and love. Each piece is custom designed to order, whether it be wall art for the home office, or a coffee table for that cabin or lake home of yours. These pieces are truly one of a kind, and I hope they bring you as much joy as the lake itself.” – Brad Wieck window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS = window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS || new Array(); window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS.push({ hoverImage: '', uuid: 's-3d62173d-4356-4975-a59f-4611bc5eddd4' }) window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS = window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS || new Array(); window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS.push({ hoverImage: '', uuid: 's-154e4637-668f-4bc2-92d8-9767404c6e30' }) window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS = window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS || new Array(); window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS.push({ hoverImage: '', uuid: 's-8a95edce-a14c-4675-90cf-0e2e0e896794' }) Create and Cut Brad creates the maps on his computer by merging multiple maps to get as much detail as possible. After getting to know his process, this is what separates himself from others. Once the map is created, he uses his favorite bit, Amana Spektra 46225-K 1/8” from @toolstoday. “It lasts forever and provides super clean cuts. Its my go-to for cutting lake topography details.” window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS = window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS || new Array(); window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS.push({ hoverImage: '', uuid: 's-270de572-c251-445f-a85a-0a87c80e30f7' }) window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS = window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS || new Array(); window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS.push({ hoverImage: '', uuid: 's-ea1c0d3c-78e3-43b8-b337-9fe53b8a4b7e' }) Once the machining was complete, the next step was to apply a seal coat of epoxy to this beautiful slab of maple. Seal Coat We jumped right into the project and began applying a seal coat of MAS Penetrating Epoxy Sealer to the entire piece of wood. We mixed up 16 ounces of PES using the correct 2:1 mix ratio. Once thoroughly mixed we applied it to the slab using a foam brush. This step is key to prevent the wood from moving over time with temperature and humidity changes. When applying epoxy to wood, make sure the wood is dry and contains very low moisture content. Whatever you do to the top you need to do to the bottom and edges to prevent warping and cupping over time. Once the entire piece was coated, we let epoxy cure overnight. We sand down the surface and scuff sand the contour lines using 180 grit sandpaper. Once sanded, we wiped down the surface with denatured alcohol. window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS = window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS || new Array(); window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS.push({ hoverImage: '', uuid: 's-71b47606-649b-4fd4-ae11-067e6d12b9ef' }) window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS = window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS || new Array(); window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS.push({ hoverImage: '', uuid: 's-9b9e572f-5963-40c5-8a48-fcde68855386' }) window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS = window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS || new Array(); window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS.push({ hoverImage: '', uuid: 's-bdd69f41-ac84-48a8-9ff4-c534ca077509' }) Deep Pour Now that the slab of maple has been sealed, sanded and wiped clean, we applied a bead of silicone around the perimiter of the map just in case we had some overflow while pouring. We mixed a total of 48 ounces of MAS Deep Pour epoxy at the correct 3:1 mix ratio and tinted it with blue alcohol ink. Once the epoxy was thoroughly mixed, we filled in the contour map. This project was ideal for Deep Pour epoxy due to the slow cure time which allowed us to do it all in one pour. The epoxy was fully cured after 36 hrs at 70F. window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS = window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS || new Array(); window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS.push({ hoverImage: '', uuid: 's-a3677f4d-5c17-4cc2-a9ea-bb713d64adae' }) window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS = window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS || new Array(); window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS.push({ hoverImage: '', uuid: 's-dfabc406-fb19-402d-b0a0-a9864023cae3' }) window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS = window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS || new Array(); window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS.push({ hoverImage: '', uuid: 's-e6f52cc4-a2d8-4c02-8141-71906264486a' }) Once the epoxy was fully cured, Brad machined the piece flat with his CNC machine 1/16″ to remove the silicone and epoxy that slightly overflowed. To customize this piece even further, Brad machined “Wapogasset Lake” onto the slab. After the slab was flattened and engraved, we sanded it with 180 grit and prepared it for the final top coat of epoxy. Flood Coat with Table Top Pro Epoxy Our last step in the project was applying a final clear coat using MAS Table Top Pro epoxy. We mixed a total of 32 ounces of epoxy at the correct 1:1 mix ratio for around 3 minutes until it was thoroughly mixed. Proper mixing is key to getting a flawless clear coat. Make sure there are no striations visible and you scrape the edges of the cup to ensure a thorough mixture. Once fully mixed, we allowed the epoxy to sit for around 5 minutes at 70F to allow air bubbles to release to the top. Pour the epoxy onto the center of the surface and spread evenly towards the edges. This can be done with your gloved hand, plastic spreader, notched trowel or brush. We allowed the epoxy to self level and run over the edges of the piece. Using our gloved hand we rubbed epoxy onto the edges. After 10 minutes we applied heat using a propane torch to eliminate the air bubbles. This was repeated 3 times in 10 minute intervals. window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS = window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS || new Array(); window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS.push({ hoverImage: '', uuid: 's-c8698c66-62b1-45f1-bb05-e7892a4e70a7' }) window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS = window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS || new Array(); window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS.push({ hoverImage: '', uuid: 's-5d29ce0f-9cc6-4091-b537-b3aa19781e6f' }) window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS = window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS || new Array(); window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS.push({ hoverImage: '', uuid: 's-fc2d474d-7c59-46f1-9fc8-8a1e58748e5b' }) window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS = window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS || new Array(); window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS.push({ hoverImage: '', uuid: 's-76568f08-8293-4fce-b833-2626405619f4' }) window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS = window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS || new Array(); window.SHOGUN_IMAGE_ELEMENTS.push({ hoverImage: '', uuid: 's-54c1f6f3-c26a-4317-9898-466371e1df95' }) Finished Piece of Wapogasset Lake This was by far one of my favorite pieces to work on. The detail, clarity and glass like finish makes this piece truly one of a kind. Throughout the process Brad and I started talking about new creative ideas utilizing his CNC machine, map making ability and MAS Epoxies.
