Born in 1983, Joel has been painting in oils since graduating with a degree in fine art from the Queensland College of Art in 2003.
I love paintings that surprise me! I set myself up for a bit of a challenge and something different with this one - mostly setting the usual colours aside and experimenting with neutrals and browns and earth-y, soft colours and am 'wowed' by how it turned out! This warm and cozy sky with its unusual palette and subtle blends just radiates love. A gorgeous fine art print in soft autumn colors created from an original abstract landscape painting. 'What Once Was' was one of the big skies I painted as part of the 'Forever Skies' collection. The 'big idea' behind the collection was to capture the immense beauty and limitless possibilities of vast skies that seem to change endlessly, providing a constant source of inspiration and joy. Invite the warm beauty of an October sunrise inside to grace the walls of your home. There is mystery in these tumbles of billowing clouds that combine beautifully with the soft autumn colors that will elevate and inspire the walls of any room.
Spain and Scotland-based collage artist Lola Dupre (previously) continues to surprise and delight with her unusual composite images. Rather than incorporating unique individual collage elements that contrast with each other, Dupre works with repetition and duplication to build bizarrely proportioned pets, buildings, and human figures. By layering and off-setting shards of the same photo in a sort of visual syncopation, Dupre stretches and bends otherwise familiar subjects into surreal images. More
A look at some Ghent foods and drink that define the city.
This is a 9 x 7" Giclée fine art print of my dip pen & ink original drawing. The title is "The Deranged Grove". This print is made to the exact size of the original drawing. The dimensions given include a 1" white border around the image. Where are we? Has Alice taken a detour in Wonderland not depicted in the original books? Has a highly eccentric landscaper gone completely mad? Has the artist (moi) time-traveled back to the psychedelic 60's? One can only hope it's one of the above, or better yet...all of the above! This drawing was rendered with dip pen & ink in a fine cross-hatching technique. This piece is emblematic of the style and manner in which I worked 20 years back (most specifically the stylised clouds), yet still use occasionally. It's a favourite work of mine. As you know, I primarily do a lot of atmospheric, shadowy & moody drawings (albeit quite whimsical at times). Yet I have an irrepressible sense of humour, which I must release on a frequent basis. So don't be surprised when you stumble across pieces like this! Printed by Giclée Today on beautiful Moab Entrada 100% archival rag paper, very similar to what I draw on. Prints are shipped unframed in secure and protective materials packaged to ship safely. This image is © Copyright by Rob Husberg. The copyright does not transfer with sale. With its blocky feel and bold use of color, the work of Hungarian-born artist Zsofia Schweger feels as informed by graphics as it is by fine art. As such, it comes as little surprise that the London-based image-maker takes a keen interest in graphic design—so much so that she interned for a time at

From an inch away, the sculptures of Li Hongbo look like plaster. They are not. These large reproductions of classical busts are stacks of white paper.

While attending the International Fireworks Show in Ottawa, Canada earlier this month photographer David Johnson had his camera in hand to document the night. When Spain’s entry into the competition begin he decided to try something a little different resulting in the photos you see here which are unlike any long exposure firework shots I’ve ever seen. Via email David tells me how he accomplished the effect: The technique I used was a simple refocus during the long exposure. More
All the images and writing on this site are copyright protected. Please don't use them without permission. Well, I'm finally back after a break of several weeks. I had the flu and was just too tired to think about blogs. Lately there's been a renewed interest from other people in the quilt designs I used to do. I used to make part of my living making quilts that were framed to hang on the wall made from cut pieces of wallpaper, giftwrap and other colorful paper products. I gave up the business when the repetition of doing the popular designs over and over started to feel like factory work. This was before Imagekind and Cafepress. If these services were available then who knows what would have happened. By the end of my "paper quilt" career I started to design my art pieces on the computer but those designs never saw the light of day. Finally, years later, I put them on Cafepress and I have new fans of my work! Quilt-makers and quilt-lovers enjoy them, of course, but it seems that math and technology-oriented people appreciate them as well. Nice, huh? Buy a matted and framed print from Imagekind by clicking one of the links below: These images are also available on greeting cards, mugs, T-shirts and a variety of other fine gifts at the Quilts and Geometric Patterns section of my Cafepress shop. Here are samples of what's available:

Artist: Leah SaulnierSubject: AnimalsStyle: Modern & ContemporaryProduct Type: Gallery-Wrapped Canvas Art This ready to hang, gallery-wrapped art piece features a rat with a suitcase strapped to its back. Prominent Colors: Grey, Brown, Yellow, Tan, Green, Orange Leah Saulnier is a Humorist, Surrealist oil painter and portraitist whose versatility knows no bounds. Her art is laced with expressions of humor, the macabre, and elements of surprise. Look for the convergence of the absurd with the rational, the role of machines in the role of people and the curious appearance of animals in unusual surroundings. Leah was born and raised in the Midwest, the daughter of an artist?musician. She has been a resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico since 1992 when she followed her parents to the City Different to help run a family business. Passionate and prolific, she paints full time in a country setting that gives her a direct view of the mountains. Giclee (jee-clay) is an advanced printmaking process for creating high quality fine art reproductions. The attainable excellence that Giclee printmaking affords makes the reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original piece. The result is wide acceptance of Giclee by galleries, museums, and private collectors. Gallery wrap is a method of stretching an artist's canvas so that the canvas wraps around the sides and is secured a hidden, wooden frame. This method of stretching and preparing a canvas allows for a frameless presentation of the finished painting.
