This is not my first attempt to capture a sun dog though I think this is one of my better ones. Saturday's blizzard died down at just the right time and it made for and incredible sunset. The wind was quite strong during the capture of this image.
A few weeks ago I was up at the Lakes Basin backpacking for a couple of nights. I really enjoyed the area and hope to make it back up there again this summer. Hopefully I get a chance post a few more from the trip if time allows. Thanks for looking! ©This photograph is copyrighted and is not permitted for free use.

This is probably my favourite photo from my trip to Northumberland. I was hunched up on the rocky outcrop at the north-western end of Bamburgh beach (taking this shot amongst others) when I noticed the waves hitting a little cranny in the rocks to my right. I shuffled over, hunched down on the rocks and rattled off a few rapid-burst sequences as each wave came in. This one I'm chuffed with: never mind the water and the castle, you just don't get light like this every day. I'm a lucky boy indeed!
