All the printables were created with a bee and beehive theme for this post. Next week will be the last post in this Beatitudes series and will be all preschool. For this Bee bulletin board, I combined the flowers with the bee theme, and it made a beautiful, fun board! There are different ways to use this bulletin board. The board above is 4'x8', which I love and have used this style/size for a lot of years. I used grass border along the bottom, but I added two layers. It looks great and it adds dimension. Then, I alternated the flower stems 'growing in the grass' under each layer. I also added the tree branch printed on brown cardstock for the hive to hang on. You can print the template here for the tree branch. Instead of using the bees as an interactive bulletin board, I just stapled them with the correct flower. But there is a space on the flower centers to add Velcro and let the students add the bees as a review for the Beatitudes. Print this bulletin board here. I also added bees with the student's names, since they love to see their names on bulletin boards. Then, I let them take their name tags home when the board is changes. If you would rather type in the names on the bees, you can purchase the bees here. You can print the name bees here. This Beatitudes worksheet is a beehive that the students will match the bees to the correct verse on the hive. You can print it in color or black and white. This is a lot of fun for them! Click here to print Kids love these accordions! Once they are printed and cut out, glue the ends together using the tabs. Fold Zigzag style and let the students fill in the blanks. You can print these accordions in color or black & white. Click here to print. While I was creating the above beehive worksheet, I thought it would make a really great file folder game! I added the parts in this download if you would rather use it as a file folder game. Click here to download the file folder game. And since I love lapbooks so much, I created the matching Bee Beatitudes lapbook. They are fun Lift-the-Flap's for the students. They can finish each scripture inside. Or they can finish the scripture on the top inside flap and write a basic summary on the bottom inside portion. Click here to print the lapbook. These Bible games are just what you're looking for when you have an event or Sunday school lesson that needs a little something else for added excitement
This is number 4 of the Joshua series which I found very interesting! Cathy uses these visuals with a magnetic board. She cuts the pieces out, numbers them on the back (these are numbered on the front), laminates them and adds thin magnets on the back. Put your title up first, then add and take away each visual as you teach the lesson. They can also be used as visuals alone, a flip chart, and/or a bulletin board. This set of visuals also includes a black & white map that can be printed for the students and a black & white plain map that they can write the cities in. You can also use the black & white map to enlarge onto poster board for a large teacher's visual aid. Click here to download the visuals. A reader left a comment asking about crowns for this lesson. That is a great idea and kids will wear crowns any chance they get! I created these black and white so they can be printed onto color cardstock or paper. You have a choice to print one crown with all 5 kings on it, or five different crowns which would be great to use and let the students act the lesson out. Thank you Janet for the idea! Click here to download the crowns. This lesson was written to be used with the above visuals, but can be used on it's own. The numbers in the left column are the same as the numbered visuals. Fifth graders recently studied the Aztec Sun Stone in Art class. The Aztecs lived in Mexico from around 1300-1500 AD. They worshipped the sun because it provided life to all people. They carved a huge stone disk, three feet thick and almost twelve feet in diameter that is now known as the Sun Stone or the Aztec Calendar. When the Conquistadores arrives, it was buried after no one was able to destroy it. In 1760 it was found buried in Mexico City and is now in the Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City. The Stone shows how the Aztecs believed the world went through four creations and destructions. They used glyphs, or picture symbols, to communicate meaning. It is a complex and fascinating calendar system with the face of the sun in the center of the radial design. Fifth graders were able to create their own radially symmetrical design using gylphs. They began with pencil and repeated shapes around the circle and creating an interesting sun face. They added paint and marker, finishing their projects with cut pieces of construction paper!
This week's post for the Beatitudes I am posting this month has assorted printables. I have some that were created with the flower theme, and others with the bee & beehive theme that will be used for all of next week's post. Honestly, I was getting too much for one post, so added some here! I saw the ideas for the flowers being used for The Beatitudes at a Teacher's workshop. I created the Bulletin Board/Visual first, then started adding everything else! You can see the Interactive Bulletin Board here. It can also be glued to a poster board, then saved to reuse easier. Click here to download. I love File Folder Games, and so do the kids! All ages love them! They are easy to store, and everything is stored right with the folder. They can be used over and over! This one is the same concept as the Interactive Bulletin Board you see above. So, these can be used instead of the Bulletin Board if you would rather. The directions are in the download for easy assembly after printing and cutting. Click here to download. The kids love lapbooks too! It takes prep work for you if you are using them in a Bible class, but they are worth it. They are used a lot for homeschool teaching, and the students can cut and assemble themselves as part of the project. These have the first part of the scripture on the front flap, then the inside is blank. The kids can finish writing each verse. Or they can do that on the top inside flap, and a short summary on the bottom inside flap. There are instructions in the download. Click here to download. You can see directions on making a lapbook here. These are basic worksheets for The Beatitudes. The students will draw a line from the beginning of each verse (left side) to the correct ending of each verse (right side). There is a really plain one, more appropriate for older students, and is black & white only. The other worksheets are draw a line from the bees to the flower and they can be printed in color or black & white. Click here to download. I created this Beatitudes Scripture Journal to be used for homeschooling, or this would be great if you are teaching each beatitude separate. It is too much to use for one lesson only, though. Each Beatitude page has the scripture, questions to answer, space for drawing and space for student to write a summary. It will make a really nice journal if you bind the pages or add them to a notebook. The download has color and black & white. This is a big set of worksheets, so please let me know if there are any typos. Click here to print the Scripture Journal. If you like this Scripture Journal, you might like the Creation Scripture Journal found here. Thanks to the readers and Cornerstone Confessions for making this post one of the Most Read Features! Click here to see it! Thanks so much to Kelly at Raising Samuels Homeschool for Featuring this post! Thank you!

This week we started our unit on space and we’ve been having SO.MUCH.FUN learning all about the Sun, the Earth, and the moon! Can I just tell you how impressed I am by how much information my kiddos have learned in just a few short day… It just goes to prove that when kids are engaged, learning takes place To begin our unit, I decided to tackle one of the biggest MISCONCEPTIONS I noticed my class was having…. Many of the kids believed that the Sun travels around, the Earth. Can you blame them? I mean every morning on my drive to school I see the Sun rising in the sky. I can totally understand why they think this. They “see” the Sun moving in the sky every day. So logic tells you, it’s the one traveling… Right, not quite! To help my kiddos explore this idea a little further, I decided to have them create their very own models. (Feel free to download your own copy here.) They started off by coloring pictures of the Sun, Earth, and moon. While doing this, we talked about the obvious size differences between each. The kids were shocked to […]
