Hi friends and welcome to tonight's blog post. I thought I would share a little set of 3" x 3" cards with you all. I absolutely love making these mini card sets and gifting them to friends for their birthdays. I have so much fun personalising them to suit each one's likes and tastes. I'm giving this set to my friend Sue for her birthday. I start with a Thick Whisper White card base that measures 6" x 3", and score along the 6" side @ 3" to create the centre fold line. I cut five squares of cardstock to 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" in Cherry Cobbler, Bermuda Bay, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight and Rich Razzleberry and ran these through the Layered Leaves 3D Dynamic TIEF. Taking the double flower image from 'Petal Palette' stamp set, I stamped onto a stitched square of Thick Whisper White C/S with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and coloured with Stampin' Blends in the embossed panel colours. I attached these squares to the card with dimensionals. To hold the cards I made a box on the Envelope Punch Board and secured with a belly-band. I stamped and die-cut the same flower image and layered onto another stitched square of Cherry Cobbler and attached this to the belly-band with Tombow glue. I brushed Wink of Stella over all of the flowers for a lovely sparkle and added (retired) Glitter Epoxy shapes. For the flowers on the box I used Rhinestones. The set is complete with our matching 3" x 3" envelopes. Thanks for stopping by today. I have a list of all the products I've used to create this mini card set below. Until next time..... It’s that time of year again, back to school! For this years back to school tutorial, I thought it’d be fun to share 12 easy hairstyles using a hair scarf! I’m not going to lie, this tutorial was kind of a big deal to film and edit. I have never shared a tutorial with this many hairstyles before, but I wanted to make sure you had plenty of hairstyles to choose from for your first day of school or wherever you plan to wear these styles! I really hope you enjoy this tutorial and be sure to let me know which hairstyle is your favorite in the comments below! Thanks so much for reading! xo, Missy 12 Back to School, Hair Scarf Hairstyles Supplies: Rattail comb Bobby pins Clear elastics Hair bands Medium-hold hairspray Hair scarf one two three four 12 Back to School, Hair Scarf Hairstyles Instructions: Side Braid Instructions: Step 1 / Tie two small sections, from above both ears, together at the back of the head with a clear elastic. Step 2 / Flip the tail around the elastic and lay a hair scarf over the elastic band. Step 3 / Begin the hair over the left shoulder and braid it into a three strand braid with the scarf ends in the two outer sections. Step 4 / Tie off the end of the braid with an elastic band. High Bun Instructions: Step 1 / Bring all of the hair into a high ponytail and tie it off with a hair band. Step 2 / Pull the hair scarf under the hair band so the center of the scarf is under the band. Step 3 / Divide the ponytail into two halves adding one side of the hair scarf into each half. Step 4 / Twist each section of hair around the hair scarf to create a rope braid and then tie off the end of the braid with a clear elastic band. Step 5 / Take both braids and wrap them in opposite directions around the base of the ponytail and pin them in place with bobby pins. Half Up Rolled Tuck Instructions: Step 1 / Tie a scarf around the head, sliding a bobby pin over the scar at the back of the head. Step 2 / Take a section of hair on the left side of the head and wrap it around the scarf. Step 3 / Pick up a new section of hair and wrap it around the scarf a second time. Step 4 / Continue wrapping sections of hair around the scarf. Step 5 / Then repeat the same steps with the hair on the right side. Step 6 / Slide bobby pins into each piece to hold them in place. Dutch Braid Ponytail Instructions: Step 1 / Create a dutch braid on the left side of the head by picking up a section near the part, dividing it into three sections and crossing the side strands under the middle strand while adding new sections into the braid until it reaches the left ear. Step 2 / Stop adding new sections into the braid and braid the section down to the ends and slide a bobby pin over the bottom. Step 3 / Go back over the braid and pull on the edges to make it fuller. Step 4 / Combine all of the hair together into a low ponytail and tie it off with a hair band. Step 5 / Remove the bobby pin from the end of the braid and tie a hair scarf around the hair band. Half Up French Braid Bun Instructions: Step 1 / Pick up a section at the forehead and begin a french braid by crossing the side strands over the middle strand, while incorporating new sections into the braid. Step 2 / After 4 stitches of the braid, stop adding in new sections and continue the braid a little further down. Step 3 / Tie off the bottom of the braid with an elastic band but on the last wrap only pull the hair halfway through to create a loop. Step 4 / Tie a hair scarf over the elastic band, below the braid and above the bun. Crown Braid Instructions: Step 1 / Part the hair on the right side. Step 2 / Then lay the scarf across the top of the head, about 3 inches back from the hairline and slide a bobby pin over the scarf on the right side of the part. Step 3 / Create a dutch braid by picking up a section near the part, with the scarf being the back section, and cross the side strands under the middle while incorporating new hair into the braid. Step 4 / Continue the braid down the left side of the head, around the back of the head near the nape of the neck and then up towards the right ear. Step 5 / Once all of the hair is combined, braid the rest of the section in a regular three strand braid and tie off the end with a clear elastic band. Step 6 / Lay the end of the braid over the top of head and pin it in place with bobby pins. Step 7 / Tie the ends of the scarf together and tuck the ends of the scarf along the backside of the braids. Topsy Tail Braid Instructions: Step 1 / Take a large section of hair on both sides of the head, bring them towards the back and tie them together with an elastic band. Step 2 / Flip the tail up and around the elastic then gently pull on the bottom of each twist to make them bigger. Step 3 / Repeat those steps creating more twisted sections, working down the length of the hair. Step 4 / Tie a hair scarf over the very last elastic band. Braided Bun Instructions: Step 1 / Divide the hair into two sections and […]
17. Graduated Pearl Blonde Bixie. We like how this massive disconnection breaks the flow of the creamy blonde tones from top to bottom and how the buzzed section at the nape makes the look even edgier.

Look what Michele sent me! Her contribution to Ola's Quilt is just gorgeous. Lots of beautiful fabrics, including the purple fabric in the background, which was wrapped around the other fabrics. She also sent me this as a surprise: A needle threader in my favourite colour. I was a bit doubtful whether it would handle the tiny needles I use for applique and patchwork: #12 hand applique needles by Piecemaker. I'm happy to report it works perfectly and it saves an enormous amount of fiddling around with a thread and a tiny needle! It works just as well with DMC floss as with other threads. What a great idea! Thank you so much, Michele, for making life easier.

Cathy and I travelled to Indiana to teach at the Indianapolis Quilt Guild. A couple of my students brought projects of mine that they had previously done in class. I am always excited to see the progression of individual pieces and how they are embellished. Dawn had done my Flower Vase class as well as the Sew Your Seeds Needle Case. I also taught my Small Bird Play. It is a fun class as you come to class with the kit appliqued then you spend your time in class layering and embellishing. As we drove we were able to fill the car with wonderful goodies to tempt my students. The layering and stitching of these flowers and leaves made each students piece unique. This week I travelled to North Coast Needlers in Westlake OH. I had a full class of enthusiastic stitchers all layering and embellishing my Bird Play sampler. Susan brought her version of my Coneflower Pillow to show me. I love the stitching she did on her piece. www.suespargo.com/kits.html We worked on Bullion Knots, layering, combining ribbons and stitches and the textural pistil stitches. As well as the Fly Stitch we had fun using some of our new fabrics for layering. It was a fun day and as and added bonus Aimee my youngest daughter assisted me and we got to spend the day together. I gave a lecture in the evening and Sue brought her Peony Bloom and Saffron Needle Case to share. Patterns and Kits for these can be found on my website. www.suespargo.com/smallgifts.html I have also spent a great deal of time catching up with emails and general day to day chores after being away for a few weeks. I still feel like the I have a long way to go. I am off to Atlanta to teach for three days this week. Creative Stitching Sue
