Thank you everyone for all the nice comments you left me on the Blog Hop post and FaceBook! It really means a lot to me! I spent yesterday editing photos for the tutorial so you can make one for your very own. It's not hard to put together, just a lot of steps. So I've broken it up into 2 parts. This post will show you how to make the base of the ornament, the next one will show you how to make the center embellishment and hanger. And by all means, make it your own! If you'd like to change something from what I've done, please do! But I'd love to see what you created when you're done. Ready to get started? Supply/Tool List White Daisy cardstock Twilight cardstock Twilight ink Very Merry Christmas stamp set Silver Glitz Glitter Gel Twilight Marker Alcohol Blending Marker Slate Satin Polka-Dot Ribbon Bling Assortment buttons Sparkles White Daisy Embroidery Floss Liquid Glass Glue Dots & Mini Glue Dots Artiste Cricut cartridge Scoring Stylus Paper Piercer Blocks Scrubber/Spritz Cutting Your Pieces (though I recommend a Cricut and paper trimmer over the chainsaw) Cut 20 ornament images at 3" (pg. 79 in the Artiste booklet) in White Daisy cardstock. (One of the great things about our stamp sets that coordinate with our Cricut cartridges is the measurements for the images are right on the stamp sheet. No need to measure or guess what size to cut your image!) Cut 20 complimentary ornament images at 2½" in Twilight cardstock. (I used the ornament on pg. 47 of the Art Philosophy cartridge. But any of the ornaments on pg. 53 of the Artiste handbook would work as well. Just a matter of preference!) Cut two 3" circles, a 2" circle, and a 1" circle in White Daisy cardstock. (pg. 48 in the Artiste booklet). Cut the Shift/Accent 4 image (pg. 79 in the Artiste booklet) at 1 ¾" in White Daisy cardstock. Cut a 1½" x 12" strip of White Daisy cardstock. Score this at every ¼". Cut a 1" x 12" strip of Twilight cardstock. Score this at every ¼". Cut a 1" x 3" piece of White Daisy cardstock. Score this at ½", 1", 2", and 2½". Cut five 5¾" pieces of the Slate Satin Ribbon. Cut a 16" piece of the Sate Satin Ribbon. Putting It Together 1. Stamp the ornament image onto 15 of the White Daisy cut outs. Score down the middle. 2. Score 15 of the Twilight ornaments down the middle. 3. Take one of the scored ornaments and apply Liquid Glass to one side. 4. Attach another ornament piece, then apply Liquid Glass to it's other half. 5. Attach a 3rd ornament, then apply Liquid Glass over the whole back. 6. Attach an unscored ornament piece to the back of the whole thing, creating a base. Repeat steps 3-6 until you have 5 sets put together. 7. Do the same thing with the Twilight ornament pieces. 8. When you've finished, you should have 10 3-D ornament pieces. 9. Take the Silver Glitz Glitter Get and apply it to every edge. (These photos show Glitz only on the raised edges, but I did go back over the outer edges with the Glitz.) 10. Take one of the 3" White Daisy circles and attach the tops of the ornament pieces to it with Liquid Glass. Set this aside for now. 11. Take the 5 strips of ribbon and Mini Glue Dots. Place one glue dot at the edge of the ribbon, centered along the long side. You can almost see where it is in the photo. 12. Pinch the two center edges together as shown in the photo. Use your piecer to place another glue dot where indicated by the arrow. 13. Rotate the ribbon and press down, creating a point on the ribbon. Place another glue dot where indicated by the arrow. 14. Flip the ribbon over and create another point on the ribbon. 15. Do this with all 5 ribbon strips. 16. Take the ornament base and add the ribbon points between each stamped ornament with Liquid Glass or regular Glue Dots. 17. Add Glue Dots to the back of the Twilight ornaments (or use Liquid Glass) and attach to the center of the ribbon points. Now you've completed the base of the ornament. That wasn't so hard, was it? Stay tuned for Part 2!

Make these popsicle stick gingerbread house ornaments with your kids, and hide a picture behind the door as a fun Chrsitmas gift for family!
Well here we are Day 6 already. I love this ornament and have been showing it at all my demos for the last 2 months. Once you have made one you will be hooked as they are so easy to put together. I thiink these would be georgous as tags on your presents with the persons name on the front so you are giving a personalised ornament as well as your gift. Right here we go... All measurements are in inches Cut 5 pieces of card to 3" x 3" On both the back and the front of these 5 pieces stamp your image. I have used the poinsettia from Papermania "At Christmas Time" stamp set. Any stamp with good fine detail will work really well. Sponge each piece on the back and front .(See A6 Calender Tutorial for sponging tips.) Ink around the edges by running your pieces along your ink pads. This will give a nice definition to the edges. Now for the folds. Work on one square at a time. All the folds are the same for each square. Fold the square from edge to edge. Open up and fold edge to edge in the opposite direction you will end up with a cross on the square. Place your piece of card on the table and flip it over (turn over and work on the other side) you are now to fold from corner to corner. This fold is very important for making the square pop into position. Open up your fold and put your finger underneath at the center and push to pop it upwards. Your square should now look like this. Push in the right and left squares with the creases in them together (pointing downwards. Push them towards each other until a full square forms. Your square should now look like this. Do this to all five squares. Now see the way they open up. You are to join all of these togeather with the open section all facing the same way when joining them. (see photos). Cut two pieces of card 1½” x 1½”. These are your covers for the ornament. Decorate these covers. I stamped mine and sponged them to match the inside panels. Close up your ornament and place some double sided tape from the back corner to the open corner, remove backing tape and lay a long piece of ribbon over this. Do this on both sides of the ornament. Place your decorated cover over the ribbon. Make sure you think about what way the ornament will hang when unopened as you don't want the words going off at a dodgy angle!!! Now you are ready to attach the bead. We have a fantastic beading shop in Bray town called BDI and they have an amazing variety of beads and findings and of course the most important thing.... a fantastic Coffee Shop :). This silver bead is my absolute favorite for this ornament it just adds a touch of class to it. I make my ribbon a lot longer than I need it so I can cut it to a sharp point to get it through the width of the bead. Push the bead all the way down the ribbon to the top of the ornament. Tie a knot at the top of the ribbon and cut it neatly to tidy it up. If you find your ribbon is fraying at the top you can VERY CAREFULLY run a flame along it and it will seal the ribbon to stop it fraying. You need to be quick doing this as you don't want to bun the ribbon or yourself. Another solution is to use clear nail polish but to be honest a lot of times I find this soaks down slightly into the ribbon and ruins the look of the project. Your Ornament is done. Here it is closed. To open it, slide the bead up the ribbon to the knot at the top. Turn the ornament inside out (bring both covers around to meet one another). Slide the bead back down. Your ornament is now open for display. Below are a couple of other options. You can make this ornament with any shape that will fold exactly edge to edge in all directions for example circles and you can make it any size you want so long as it is the exact same size for all five pieces of card. This shape is cut from the Xcut Four Petal Nesting Dies. You can use any colors. The one below is inked in black using an "Ink it Up! dye based ink. You can use any stamp you want I like to use fine detail stamps. The stamp used below is the Enchanted Christmas Holly Fairy from Docrafts. I hope you all enjoy making this cute little thing. Happy Crafting everyone.

Art With Heart Team Heart of Christmas 2020 with Dove of Hope Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Heart of Christmas 2020 Showcase by members of the Art with Heart Team. This year is speeding by. We are in September already and soon Christmas will be around the corner. A friend of mine has already created over 50 Christmas cards in readiness for writing and sending to friends. How are you going with Christmas preparations? This month I have created two projects to share; a Christmas card and a Christmas Tree Ornament; both using the delightful Dove of Hope bundle. PROJECT 1: Stampin' Up!s August-December 2020 Mini Catalogue has a range of amazing bundles of coordinating stamps and dies, including the oh so gorgeous Dove of Hope bundle. The card I created is a square card of 13cm x 13cm. To start, I die cut a circle from a scrap of card-stock with the aim of using the circular hole as a template. The largest circle from the Stitched Shapes dies was used to cut the hole. This template was placed over a piece of Whisper White card-stock, and the area was sponged using Misty Moonlight Classic ink. It's important to build up the colour slowly and to regularly check how much colour has been applied, remembering that you can always add more colour but its really hard to remove it. Once I was satisfied with the sponged colour, the template was removed and some Seaside Spray Classic ink was sponged around the coloured circle to soften the edge and blend out to no colour. It's very subtle and adds a softness to the design. A little water was misted over the sponged ink to add further interest. The Detailed Dove die set has a number of dies to cut the pieces that create this lovely dove. The detailed wings and body was die cut from Whisper White card-stock while the open dies were used to cut Vellum card-stock to go behind the feathered areas. The olive sprig also was cut from Whisper White card-stock and was lightly sponged with Pretty Peacock Classic ink. The white dove was adhered together with a combination of Multipurpose Liquid glue and Mini Dimensionals. To add a little shading and some shimmer, Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint was lightly added with a Water Painter. While you may be able to see a little of the metallic touches, the lovely shimmer hasn't been picked up by the camera. Before the dove was adhered to the card front with Mini Dimensionals the "feathers" were gently curved to add shape and interest. Also before attaching the dove, the card front was cut down to the appropriate size and mounted on a piece of Misty Moonlight card-stock allowing a small boarder to be seen. The finished card front was popped up on the card base with Dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped on a scrap of Whisper White card-stock in Misty Moonlight Classic ink. This was fussy cut and adhered directly to the card front. The card inner was stamped with a different sentiment from the same stamp set and the smaller dove was stamped off before stamping on the card inner. A custom created envelope was made out of a piece of the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper with a Whisper White label cut with the Tasteful Labels dies, was adhered to the front of the envelope for writing the name and address of the recipient. To add finishing touches, a piece of twine from Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo pack was tied around the card front with a bow and three of the super delicious Blue Adhesive-backed Gems were added. PROJECT 2: The second project uses the Detailed Dove dies set to create another dove, similar to the dove in Project 1. As above, the die cut pieces for the dove were cut out of Whisper White and Vellum card-stocks. The Whisper White pieces had touches of Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint added to add shading and shimmer. A second body piece and full set for a second wing was cut so the back of the dove is the same was the front so that as the ornament swings the back of the ornament is just as decorative. The pieces were adhered with a mix of Multipurpose Liquid glue and Mini Dimensionals to form the white dove. The tail end of the body and the beak were adhered over the Gold Hoop Embellishment to hold the dove's position. Pieces of the dove were gently shaped to add a sense of movement. A piece of Gold twine from the Wonder of the Season Ribbon Combo pack was tied over the gold hoop into a loop for hanging the ornament. Concepts for other ornaments came as I created this dove ornament. It is going to be fun to try experiment. Thank you for sharing the Heart of Christmas 2020 Showcase for September.
