Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn Tonight I'm hoping with the CASEING the CATTY team. To CASE is To Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit, and we love to CASE from our amazing Stampin' Up! catalogues. (CATTY) This week, we are CASEING from the wonderful gorgeous Country Woods Suite - which has been an absoloute favourite suite of mine!! My card this week is a simple verson of the one on the left bottom of the spread. I've flipped it on the side and made it a little simpler - but basically the same! I used some masking paper for the bucket on the stool and then fussy cut the whole image out after colouring. I do like the Everyday Details die cut circle in the background! I've used it inside the card too! I hope you're inspired!! Make sure you keep hopping to see lots of great projects!! Here's the amazing Rochelle. And check out our Facebook page here for inspiration too. Please head over to my online store if you wish to see these products in more detail - and you can place your order anytime (if you're in Australia) while you're there (even if you're in your pyjamas!!) And, if you can see yourself creating cards and sharing your love of papercrafts while inspiring others, perhaps you might be interested in joining my Stampin' Up! family - contact me to find out how.

A Sketch from page 68 meets Season of Green & Gold Hello, Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and #476 Challenge with CASEing the Catty. You have probably hopped here from Monique Fielder's blog on your way around this week's Blog Hop. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's creations. Challenge #476 is all about CASEing one of the layouts from page 68. As you know, CASE stands for Copy And Share Everything or Copy And Selectively Edit. When CASEing you may be inspired by a layout, a colour combination, a technique or even an embellishment. This week its a specific sketch: I have combined this sketch with something I recently saw and wanted to try. Earlier this month I saw Cindy Schuster of The Crafty Carrot Co fame share a Gift Card Holder featuring the Attention Shoppers bundle. I was taken with her project and wanted to CASE it - so decided to do a double CASE, ie the sketch and Cindy’s Gift Card Holder. My project is a Christmas card with a gift card holder inside. The soon to be released Season of Green & Gold Suite (an online exclusive) has been featured in this special card. The Season of Green & Gold Speciality Designer Series Paper is so so gorgeous. One of the designs has been used for the bottom panel. It has touches of gold running throughout the leafy design. The colours of this SDSP have been used as the colour combo for the project, ie Old Olive, Garden Green, Very Vanilla and gold. Detailed die cuts from the Golden Greenery dies were cut from Very Vanilla card-stock and 2 of the bigger die cuts were coloured with either Old Olive or Garden Green Classic Stampin’ inks and Blending Brushes. The pine fronds were left uncoloured Very Vanilla card-stock. A stitched oval from the Greetings of the Season dies was also cut from Very Vanilla card-stock and then gold heat embossed using the Greetings of the Season stamp set. Some of the luscious Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon was trimmed lengthwise and tied into a bow through the little hole in the label. Some of the pearl berries from the Cherry Cobbler and Pearl Adhesive-backed Berries were added to give some subtle shimmer. The top panel was embossed using the Fern 3D Embossing Folder. A belly band was cut from one of the other designs in the Season of Green & Gold SDSP and the die cut pieces were arranged over the front of the band with the oval label sitting on top on Dimensionals. Peaking out from beneath the label are 2 strips of Gold Foil. The ends of the foil were angled inwards to give a sense of the fishtailed label on the sketch. The sketch could be interpreted as a simple card with different layers and an angled cut, however, for this project the embossed top section will open when the belly band is removed - the edge has been angled. The SDSP underneath is a full panel. When the lower section is opened, a little shopping bag is revealed. This is where a gift card is to be placed (or a small gift could be added). Isn’t it cute. The same SDSP as the front panel was used for the internal shopping bag. Some gold trim from the On-line Exclusive Gold & Silver Trim Combo was used to create the bag handles. The bottom panel was decorated with a detailed leafy die cut, a strip of the SDSP and another sentiment - this one from the Merriest Trees stamp set. The sentiment was gold heat embossed and cut into a strip the width of the card - and was popped up on Dimensionals. Thank you so much for spending time with me. I hope you like this different interpretation of the sketch for Challenge #476. Don’t miss any of the inspiration from this talented Crew. The next blog in the hop is the lovely Kathryn Mangelsdorf. I have a dose of cuteness to share this week, with some cards I made using the Hearts and Hugs Bundle. I couldn't resist these little critters. I had lots of fun colouring these guys using Blends. I wanted some soft pastel Designer Series Paper, so I reached for the Lily Pond Lane 6"x6" DSP. One side is covered with ducks, lily pads, and wetland scenery — so fun! The other side has all-purpose designs you can use on any project. I just cut a couple of square pieces, and angled them on my card. I stamped some hearts in the background, and also used a few die-cut hearts. So cute! Hello and welcome to the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop for April! Each month a group of creative friends create a project for a theme. Below is an image of all of the crew and where they are from around the globe. Such a talented, friendly and wonderful group of people. Last month I attended OnStage a Stampin' Up!® Event held in Melbourne. I loved catching up with a few of the Around the World on Wednesday Team Members whilst there. Below is a picture of Melissa Gifford, Cheryll Miller, Rochelle Laird-Smith and myself. These beautiful ladies are so talented and I love that we know each other through this amazing design team. This year is going so quick! I can't believe we are in April already. The weather here in Australia finally cooling. We had a severe rainfall here last weekend and there were many roads cut by flooding or small landslides on the mountains that border my home town. It was the perfect opportunity to spend some time in the craft room being creative with my dog at my feet "helping". This months challenge, This or That, had me thinking for a while. I felt I should create a simple card and then step it up, but then, I decided to make two cards with a similar layout and the same products. I chose to create my cards using new product that I chose to purchase for OnStage in Melbourne for the After Hours classes. Something new and so much fun to attend on top of the OnStage Event. The new bundle I chose is the Spotlight on Nature Bundle. The delicate images and gorgeous Dies won me over instantly. These cards are something that I imagined creating with the Bundle as soon as I saw it. Soft colours and the divine die cut circles at the centre of my card. For my first card I decided to layer the beautiful circle die cuts and sit the fussy cut stamped and coloured images on top. The circle dies are adhered together with Dimensionals and I also used Dimensionals to add to the mat layer. I have stamped the two fussy cut images in the new Basic Beige ink before colouring in with Petal Pink and Soft Sea Foam Stampin' Blends. For the background layer I stamped the Sketched Plaid stamp in Basic White ink on Soft Sea Foam card stock and glued that to a mat layer before adhering to the Soft Sea Foam card base. I placed three of the Petal Pink Foiled Gems around the die cut pieces on the circle diecut. On a piece of Soft Sea Foam card stock I stamped the sentient in Soft Sea Foam ink before cutting it out with paper snips. I tied some Linen Thread in a bow and adhered it to the bottom of the sentiment piece before adhering the sentiment with Dimensionals. For my second card I wanted to use the beautiful new neutral Basic Beige for my card base. I felt it would go well with the softness of Petal Pink and Soft Sea Foam. I decided to make a simpler and quicker version of the card above. The Sketched Plaid stamp was inked in Basic Beige and stamped on a Basic Beige mat layer. Then glued to the card base. I stamped the floral image on a piece of basic white card stock in Basic Beige ink before die cutting it with a circle die and colouring with Petal Pink and Soft Sea Foam Stampin' Blends. I stamped the sentiment in Soft Sea Foam ink on the top right hand side of the floral image. I adhered three of the Petal Pink Foiled Gems around the stamped images. Before adhering to the card base using Dimensionals I cut a 10cm length of the new Petal Pink Diagonal Trim and adhered it to the centre of the card front underneath where the circle die layer went. Up next on this months hop is the wonderfully talented Rochelle Laird- Smith. Click on the next blog button below to head to her post. Who is ready for the Spotlight of Nature Sneak Peak? I have created 3 simple projects using the Spotlight of Nature Bundle.
The lovely Stampin' Up! Spotlight on Nature bundle is a joy to create with! To make these cards sparkle I coloured one of them using a Wink of Stella pen.
