Say Hello to Papercrafting
Hello and welcome, Today I’ve entered into the #TGIFC249 Valentine’s Day Challenge using the Heartfelt Bundle which has the gorgeous Heartfelt Stamp Set and Heart Punch Pack. They are both available in the Stampin’ Up! 2020 Mini Catalogue and you can save 10% when purchased together. I’ve used the Rococo Rose gingham DSP and coordinate with the stitched look throughout the card. Rococo Rose is such a beautiful colour and using Whisper White to highlight the stamped images. The images of the three larger Hearts, arrow, smaller stitched hearts are layered on top of the Rococo Rose gingham DSP and Whisper White Cardstock. Which has been die cut out using the Stitched Rectangles. To view other amazing Valentine's Day creations by the TGIF Design Team head on over to TGIF Challenges Blog here. The theme of today's post is the wonderful One-Sheet Wonder which is an old technique that never goes out of style. Each week in my customer Facebook Group and in our weekly Show & Tell Zoom sessions I set a challenge. Last week this was to create a One-Sheet Wonder then use it to make one or more projects. I was blown away by their creativity; we had dogs, leaves, flowers, snowflakes, pine boughs and even cars – and some amazing projects made with their sheets. Not everyone made cards; some made scrapbook pages or boxes, too! Really, anything goes. Best of all, everyone said they had really enjoyed the challenge and loved making their One-Sheet Wonders. If you’re not familiar with the One-Sheet Wonder concept, it’s very simple. It’s just a fancy name for making your own patterned paper so all you have to do is take a sheet of any cardstock – it doesn’t have to be white – and stamp all over it. I’ve stamped here using the new Beautiful Autumn stamp set – yes, this is my first Sneak Peek from the new August-December catalogue. I bought the whole Suite of products again because it’s just so lovely, but I have only had chance to use the stamps and dies so far. I wouldn’t say this was the ideal set for a One-Sheet Wonder, mainly because the images are so small that it’s quite time-consuming. This A4 sheet took me over an hour to stamp ... but then I did use eight different ink pads! However, I think it was worth it; I have to blow my own trumpet a little and admit I think it looks pretty fab. Hope you like it too! The Beautiful Autumn Bundle includes the Autumn Punch Pack; three fab medium-sized punches which create these gorgeous little leaves. The stamps are all two-step, too, so I stamped the outlines in a darker shade and then filled in with a lighter one. They’re photopolymer, so positioning is really easy. To mat the greeting, I used the Tasteful Labels dies on Soft Suede cardstock and embossed them using the Greenery Embossing Folder. My obsession with leaves and trees means many of my products co-ordinate beautifully across different Suites. My main tip for creating a One-Sheet Wonder is to start with the largest stamps and stamp randomly over the sheet, leaving roughly equal spaces between them. Remember to keep turning the stamps so you don't end up with a pattern. Take the next largest stamp and stamp again in a different colour. Repeat until you get to the smallest stamps. This allows you to maximise the space and get as many images on there as possible. I usually say to start with the palest colour and work your way through to the darkest colour, but this is one rule that is definitely made to be broken! When your sheet is stamped, you can cut it up as you wish to make as many projects as you like. I simply cut my sheet into quarters, then cut each one down to fit onto a card front, slicing them into thirds. The excess strips were used to embellish the insides of the cards. When you cut up your sheet, you may find you have some empty areas around the edges. Don't worry, you can fill these in with more stamping if necessary. Another tip to maximise your One-Sheet Wonder is to stamp all over with your chosen colours, then cut in half and add another colour to one of the pieces. You can repeat this if you wish to get lots of different looks from one sheet. One of the main advantages of a One-Sheet Wonder is that it’s a time-saving device if you have a lot of cards to make (unless you use tiny stamps and eight different ink pads!), which means it’s ideal for your Christmas cards or for party invitations. The other main advantage is that it’s very therapeutic. You just stamp away merrily without having to think too hard about what you’re doing. And we all need a bit of mindless crafting these days, don’t we?
We made this nice masculine card at my class last week: It's a perfect card for a guy, and could be used for a variety of occasions. I love the Come Sail Away suite, and this card uses many of the products that are available in the bundle. We started with a piece of 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Night of Navy cardstock, folded in half. To this we adhered two strips of the Come Sail Away designer series paper, leaving a small space between them. Then we wrapped the Bakers Twine around the card twice, ending with a knot and an anchor from the Sail Away Trinkets. The sailboat and lighthouse (from Sailing Home) were stamped on Sahara Sand using Night of Navy ink, then cut with the coordinating Smooth Sailing dies. Don't recognize the sentiment? Well that's where we went AWOL from the suite, and picked up the phrase from the adorable On To Adventure set. It was stamped on Sahara Sand and cut with the Smooth Sailing dies (a second label was cut using Night of Navy; we snipped it in half and "spread" it to create the frame around the sentiment). And we finished with a ships wheel, cut with the dies and Soft Suede cardstock. I'm starting to like making masculine cards! The Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper is part of the Buy 3 Get 1 FREE offer going on now through September 30. Don't miss out! Hello again friends, Here’s a simple card which could be used for any occasion just by changing the Designer Series Paper. I attached the ‘Tis the Season 6”x6” Designer Series Paper (#153489) to Real Red card (#106578). Then I wrapped the beautiful Shaded Spruce Argyle Satin Ribbon from the Wonder Of The Season Ribbon Combo Pack (#153537) around the card like it is gift wrapped. The card front was attached to the Whisper White base card (#106549). I stamped the bow from the Gift Wrapped stamp set (#p153432) using Shaded Spruce ink (#147088) and this was punched with the Gift Bow Builder Punch (#153606). I coloured the bow with Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blends (#154903) and Real Red Stampin’ Blends (#154899) and as usual, added some sparkle using the Clear Wink Of Stella Glitter Brush (#147897) on the green colour of the bow. Stampin’ Dimensionals (#104430) were used to attach the bow to the card. I also stamped the little tag and holly leaves using Real Red ink (#147084) and Shaded Spruce ink. This was also punched with the Gift Bow Builder punch. “Celebrate in Style” was stamped with Real Red ink and I cut this with a Tasteful Labels Die (#152886). I attached the tiny tag with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the larger tag, then attached the Red Rhinestone Basic Jewel (#146924) to the tag. Have a great weekend and I hope you can find time to do something creative. lesleyjendra.stampinup.net [email protected]
Hi everyone, sharing a Christmas card made using the Wishes & Wonder Bundle. This is another of the projects from last week's class. The Designer Series Paper is from the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper pack and I cut this at 7cm x 11.3cm and the Whisper White mat at 7.5cm x 11.8cm. This was adhered to the Real Red cardbase using Dimensionals. I created a tag for the focal point on the card using the Wishes and Wonder Bundle. The colouring was done with Real Red and Old Olive light and dark Stampin' Blends. The ribbon at the top of the tag is from the All the Trimmings Ribbon Combo Pack. If you live in Australia you can get all the supplies you need for this project from me. You can place an order online or Contact Me and place an order. SHOP WITH ME! Thank you for visiting. I never like to be restricted by the theme of a stamp set or Designer Series Paper. The Coming Home stamps are suitable for many occasions, as is the Trimming the Town DSP, which has some festive designs and some patterns which work all year round. All week I’ve been working on non-Christmas projects using the Trimming the Town Suite ready for this blog post... and all week I’ve been seeing social media and blog posts from the Great and the Good working on the same theme! Great minds clearly do think alike. It began with a request from my husband for two New Home cards and the houses from this Suite are perfect for this. I did stamp some using the Coming Home stamp set and colour them in, but they ended up looking a little too Christmassy, so I turned to the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper and die-cut the houses from there instead, using the Home Together Dies. The Pool Party and Poppy Parade colour combination is one of my favourite retro looks for Christmas, but it works all year round, too. To be honest, the hardest part was finding a suitable greeting. Time to Celebrate from Itty Bitty Birthdays was ideal for one of them, but as the second recipient was bereaved at the same time as moving house, this felt a little bit tactless. Instead, I chose “Rest and Relax, you deserve it” from the Timeless Tropical stamp set. For the car-themed cards, I did use the stamps, colouring them in using my Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. For the Happy Birthday card, (again, using a greeting from Itty Bitty Birthdays, I lined up the images using the Stamparatus. The dotted lines, reminiscent of a road, come from the Box of Sunshine Paper Pumpkin Kit. This card would be ideal for someone passing their driving test – although, the last I heard, if you weren’t already booked in before lockdown, you don’t stand much chance of getting a test until December! I stamped the images freehand, but they’re easy to line up as the stamp is photopolymer. I stamped and die-cut an extra car, coloured it using Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends and popped it up. “Way to Go” comes from the Simply Citrus All-Inclusive Card Kit. Finally, this house in a very built-up area was inspired by Martin Stone. When I CASE a card, I often like to do it without having the original in front of me, which ensures I make it different. This is why Martin’s version is classier and less busy. I got a bit carried away with the little houses at the back but it was fun to create, using a series of post-it note masks. When colouring these images, keep it simple. Just a swipe of the dark marker in one corner, then blend it out using the light version of the same colour. Don’t go overboard, or the ink can bleed out beyond the lines. Keep it simple and you’ll get great results every time.

Hi everyone, sharing one of the projects from my recent class. My first Christmas card for the year, yikes! The inspiration for my card is from Gail Ellis, Blue Rose Paper Treasures. I love the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper background with the spray made using the Beautiful Boughs dies, In The Woods dies and Forever Fern bundle. The greeting is from the Peaceful Boughs stamp set. To finish the card Real Red Wonderful Gems from the new August-December 2020 Mini Catalogue were added. These give a great little pop of colour.
