The artistic highlight of Strasbourg Cathedral is its wonderful western façade. The Strasbourg Cathedral or the Cathedral of Our Lady of Strasbourg (French: Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Strasbourg, France. It is widely considered to be among the finest examples of high, or late, Gothic architecture in the world. It was constructed from 1015-1439. The cathedral is built of red sandstone, principally in Gothic style, with some Romanesque features. It is noted for its 142-m spire, the fourth-tallest church in the world. The elaborate west façade, celebrated for its wealth of sculpture, was begun in 1270; the tracery spire, was completed in 1439. The cathedral’s magnificent rose window is 15 meter. This and the other windows have screens of double tracery. The Strasbourg Cathedral is an overwhelmingly large structure that one finds almost impossible to fit into the 16 mm lens on my camera.

Normally I wouldn't consider myself a buttress man, but flying buttresses get me every time. These sexy copper-topped flying buttresses are best seen about half-way up the spiraly climb to the top of the Strasbourg Cathedral's rooftop viewing platform. See where this picture was taken. [?]
