Download the FREE Ombre Puff Quilt Pattern here! If you've been around for any amount of time, you might've seen my Puff Quilt that my grandmother made for me. I love this thing SO much. She used various scrap fabrics and clothing to create this very dense, yet very snuggly quilt. . . . When I look at this quilt, I see something new each time. Recycled tablecloths from the 80s, pieces of my grandfathers button-down shirts, left-over fabrics from previous quilt projects. The list goes on. Some fabrics are used multiple times within the quilt, while other fabrics are only represented once. I love looking over all of the puffs and finding all of the similarities and differences between the squares. . . . My Granny made this for me when I was 7 years old. I absolutely LOVE that she created a tag for this quilt. I also love that she referred to the quilt as a

In today's culture of disposable fashion, the simple art of basic darning and mending has been all but forgotten.
Once upon a time, at a Pennsic long long ago (2011) I made a tunic for my love. Somehow we’d gotten to site and my love had zero short sleeved tunics. To remedy this I dragged him off to Merchant’s Row where we purchased fabric and thread. Then I spent two-an-a-half days hand sewing it together so that he would…Continue Reading→
Start off by coming up through the fabric. Hold the needle with your dominant hand. Wrap the thread around the needle 2-3 times depending on how big you want the knot. Now, go back down the same hole you came out. Push the knot all the way down your needle so it is touching the fabric. Take your time and gently nudge the needle through. You can keep the knot stable with a finger nail as you pull the rest of the tail through. That's all there is to it! I love this example of what can be created with french knots from Incy Wincy Stitches.
One of the things I love about quilting is mixing old with new. Quilting has been around for centuries, yet we still find ways to

It wasn’t until I was sitting at a knit night, that I first heard about “blocking” knitwear. It randomly came into the conversation, and was like “WTF is that?”
