Offered for sale is a PDF copy of a knitting pattern for a beautiful jumper in a smart diagonal design. The pattern was produced by Stitchcraft and was published in their February 1946 magazine. This is not an easy pattern, so not suited to a beginner knitter. It is worked with a cable needle to give the diagonal design. The neckline has an unusual cross-over design that is so smart. I knitted one in 4 ply and another in DK, but missed off the pocket detail each time. Worked on size 11 and 12 needles, the original is meant to be for a 32-34" bust, but I have knitted this in DK and it will comfortably fit a 38" bust, but you will need to do a tension square first. The second and third pictures in the listing are to show you how the pattern knits up. The jumpers are NOT for sale in this listing, the listing is for the pattern only. Always do a tension square first to ensure best fit. The pattern has been reproduced in high resolution and has been enlarged to A4 size, so when you print the pattern, all the instructions are clear and easy to follow. The listing is for the PDF pattern ONLY, NOT the original pattern, and NOT the finished garment. The pattern is available as a download, which can be found in the Downloads section of your Etsy account. If you have any problems opening it, email me, and I can always email you a PDF copy. This is a vintage pattern, over 70 years old, and is out of copyright, and in the public domain. But I have watermarked the pattern in red, but the instructions are all unaffected.

STITCHCRAFT: Entire October 1932, FIRST EVER Edition, with knitting, crochet, sewing and well as some unfamiliar recipes. At 92 years old this magazine represents the height of 1930s fashion and although the ‘free transfer’ has long gone, be assured that every garment illustrated in this listing comes with the corresponding pattern. This issue has almost 40 pages with ladies jumpers and children’s outfits. There are also accessories. Although the magazine has been restored, you might still find some minor imperfections Available as a PDF download only Note: Typical time spent restoring just one of our Stitchcraft magazines is two working weeks (80 hours). Given that we have approximately 60 more to list this situation is untenable. Consequently, future magazines, while being complete, clean and legible will be slightly closer to their natural state and will be priced accordingly. We will continue to use our excellent scanner. A PDF Reader is required.

A lovely Spring jumper-cardigan from the 1940s - with a matching hand bag! "The honeycomb pattern of the jumper is the newest thing in stitches, and although it may look difficult, is really very simple. The rust and yellow of the originals make a delightful combination, but there are a lot of other lovely colour schemes to choose from." This pattern comes from Stitchcraft, March 1941. To fit: 32-34 inch bust Needles: 2.75mm and 3.25mm Yarn: fingering weight yarn. This listing is for the above PDF pattern, available by Instant Download. This truly gorgeous pattern is available as a PDF download. It is an extract from the July 1933 Stitchcraft magazine which is also available. As with all of these old patterns no seller can vouch for the accuracy of the instructions unless they have knitted the item themselves. Experience tells me that they are no more likely to be inaccurate than a modern pattern, so why not give them a try. A PDF Reader is required.
