Tahitian Tide with Sweet Songbirds and Seaside Bay Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week. This blog hop is the final one for the 2023-2024 series. Next week we start afresh with the launch of Stampin’ Up!s 2024-2025 Annual Catalogue on the 1st May and will start with a focus on the new In Colours. This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a bright aqua called Tahitian Tide. Tahitian Tide is part of the retiring 2022-2024 In Colour Family and is a wonderful bright blue. This colour is lovely for clear blue water, bright flowers, a blue and white colour scheme and anything with an aqua blue. Tahitian Tide is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin’ Blends Combo; 2022-2024 In Color Designer Series Paper, Bakers Twine, Metallic Woven Ribbon, Pearls as well as Stargazing DSP, Saying Thanks kit and the Love This Memory kit. Tahitian Tide ink, cardstock, Stampin’ Blends Combo, Stampin’ Write Marker, In Colour Pearls & Bakers Twine have been used in the creation of the two projects plus a range of non-Tahitian Tide bits and pieces. I had a number of ideas for a Tahitian Tide project and none of them were this first card. As I settled to create, I decided to check my retiring stamp sets and found this one, Sweet Songbirds, hadn’t seen any ink. It is such a cute set, so decided work my card design around these stamps as a starting point. The background used the newish On-line Exclusive - Drizzling Droplets stamp. It was white heat embossed onto Basic White card-stock and then blended with Tahitian Tide Classic Stampin’ ink and a Blending Brush in an ombré fashion. The birds also were stamped in Tahitian Tide ink (its artistic licence - although one could say they are “blue birds”). The eyes were stamped in Crumb Cake ink. The focal label was cut from Basic White card-stock using the retiring Scalloped Contour dies. I have used this set so much and am sad to see it go, however, more label die cuts will be available so I a sure I will fall in love with a new set soon. I had stamped tree boughs and cut them out but then lost them. As I was looking for them, I spied a white die cut stem of leaves and decided to cut another one the same using the retiring Dainty Delight dies to create places for the birds to sit. I blended a little Parakeet Party ink over the white stems of leaves. Coordinating white flowers were also die cut. I went a little wild with embellishments. Loose Daisy Embellishments were added to each little bird. Initially the flowers were white, but the card needed a little more colour so I added a little Daffodil Delight ink to the centre of the flowers with a cotton bud as I just wanted colour in the centres. To give something extra to the flower centres some retiring Rainbow Adhesive Backed Dots were added. A sentiment from the same set of stamps was stamped in Crumb Cake ink and fussy cut out. An In Colour Bakers Twine bow was tucked under the sentiment and few of the In Color Pearls were scattered nearby. The card inner was decorated with some Tahitian Tide blending, a little bird and some left over leaves and flowers. The follow-on sentiment was also stamped in Crumb Cake ink. A Basic White C6 envelope was white heat embossed on one side with the Drizzling Droplets image and some Tahitian Tide ink was blended over the heat embossing. I think this card looks happy and bright. It makes me smile and I hope it gives you a smile too. CARD 2: After finishing my first card, I saw a beautiful ocean scene with the water a pure Tahitian Tide colour and knew I needed to create a second card. I had also briefly seen a number of versions of gate folds so have combined different features into this fold. A new Embossing Folder is a swirly design called So Swirly. It reminds me of swirling water so I used it for the Basic White background layer. The label was created with Stampin’ Blends on Vellum card-stock and blended with 90% Alcohol and the wide brushed Water Painter. I scribbled over the vellum with Boho Blue, Tahitian Tide and Crumb Cake Blends Combos and dipped the brush in a lid filled with alcohol and swiped left to right over the coloured vellum. I love the effect achieved. The vellum was adhered to Basic White card-stock and die cut with the largest rectangular Thoughtful Expressions die. I am going to miss the retiring Seaside Bay bundle and so gave it a little more love by using it on this card. The birds, and shells were stamped in Crumb Cake ink on Basic White card-stock. The shells were coloured with Petal Pink & Crumb Cake Blends Combos with a touch of Light Calypso Coral Blend. The birds were coloured with Boho Blue, Balmy Blue and Crumb Cake Blends Combos plus the Colour Lifter to soften highlights. Some reeds were die cut from Basic White card-stock using the Seaside Bay dies. Some Light Old Olive Blend added touches of green to the reeds. A large shell was cut from the new Basic Beige card-stock and a little Crumb Cake ink was added with a Small Blending Brush. A sentiment from the new Simply Said stamp set was white heat embossed onto Tahitian Tide card-stock. A few Flat Adhesive Backed Pearls were sprinkled around the sentiment and a large pearl was added inside the clam shell for the recipient to find. A small Linen Twine bow was tucked under a small shell. Above and below are a couple of photos to show aspects of the fun fold. It can stand partially open to display the card. The card inner was stamped in Crumb Cake ink with images and a sentiment from the Seaside Bay stamps. A large Flat Adhesive Backed Pearl was added to the shell. As the embellishment was a bit smaller than the pearl image some left over die cut reeds partially cover the pearl. A C6 Basic White Envelope was also stamped in Crumb Cake ink with Seaside Bay images. It doesn’t really show in the photos but the vellum label was added to the centre panel with Dimensionals and a second white label was added behind the centre panel to give the inside a nice finish. This also enables the background layers on the other side of the card to slip between the front and back labels, which holds the card neatly shut - although it will open a little - as seen above. Thank you so much for dropping by on your way around the last Colour Creations Blog Hop for the 2023-2024 series. If you know me, you know this is for sure my favorite suite/bundle in the new 2023 SU! spring mini catalog! The suite is called By The Bay and I used the bundle called Seaside Bay and the beautiful designer paper called By The Bay DSP. I have a Balmy Blue base and added another piece of that card stock ran through the Painted Texture embossing folder. I cut a strip of the DSP to add to the left. I cut another piece of the paper to add my birds with the Stylish Shapes dies in a stitched square. The paper already makes the scene for you looking like water and sand. I stamped the birds from the Seaside Bay stamp set in Night Of Navy ink on Basic White card stock and cut them out with the matching Seaside Bay dies. I added a little Petal Pink and Balmy Blue inks to the birds with my Stampn Blends markers. I layered some Night Of Navy behind my square before popping it on. I was about to add a sentiment but liked it without so can send for several occasions. I did add some iridescent gems to finish it off. Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a wonderful Wednesday! Wintry greetings, friends, from Saint Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada! I'm located in a border town just across from Calais, Maine, USA, along the Skutik/Saint Croix River, home of the Peskotomuhkati/Passamaquoddy people. Today I'm pleased to welcome folks from around the Stampin' Up!® world for our blog hop. You'll find cards from Austalia, Canada, and the USA - all by fellow members of the Inspirations in Ink group. Look for the links to everyone's projects near the end of this post. This month's blog hop - and our upcoming tutorial bundle for February - features the gorgeous Seaside Bay Bundle. Ce produit est également disponible en français. My project also includes the fabulous matching By the Bay Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP). Since I live right by the Bay of Fundy, home of the highest tides in the world, this Bundle really resonates! Here's my card: I started by cutting the 2nd smallest tag out of Basic White Cardstock, using one of the two tag sets in the Tailor Made Tags Dies. (Either tag set will work.) Then I stamped my sentiment in Mint Macaron ink. That's it for stamping! Next, I created the window card. I began by cutting a 4 1/4" x 11" card base, then adhering a 4" x 5 1/4" panel of DSP to the front. I chose a pattern that reminded me of paint on a boat. I used the middle die (4th largest and 4th smallest) from Layering Diorama Dies to cut a window. Then, using Stampin' Seal Plus, I adhered a 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" piece of Window Sheets to the back of the window in the card. I then cut a window from a 4" x 5 1/4" panel of Mint Macaron Cardstock, using the 3rd smallest of the Layering Diorama Dies. Before I cut, I tried different orientations of the die to see which shape combination I liked best - and exactly where I needed to cut into the panel. Then I adhered the window panel to the back of the window in the card base, hiding where I had adhered the Window Sheet. For decorating, I die cut several seashells and plants from By the Bay DSP and Gold Foil Sheets. Then I added the decorations to the card front using Mini Glue Dots and Stampin' Dimensionals. I also added a bow made from doubled Simply Elegant Trim. To complete the card, I used the 3rd largest Layering Diorama Die to cut a piece of Gold Foil Sheets. Onto that I layered a piece of fish-themed DSP, cut with the middle-sized Layering Diorama Die. Then I adhered the two pieces to the interior of the card, so that the fish are visible through the window - almost as if seen through a glass-bottomed boat. Here's a view through the card's window: Thanks so much for checking out my Seaside Bay window card. Summer Splash with Seaside Wishes Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We have been focussing on the new In Colours and this week we hero the 5th of the In Colours. Soon, we will return to the continuing Stampin’ Up! colours, working though them in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week. This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a bright turquoise called Summer Splash. Summer Splash is another of the 2024-2026 In Colours and this colour sits nicely in between Pool Party and Bermuda Bay. In comparison to the retired Coastal Cabana, Summer Splash is a stronger colour. This colour is lovely for bright colour combinations, it would be great for water themes, and so much more. Summer Splash is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin’ Blends Combo; In Color Designer Series Paper; In Color Glimmer Speciality Paper; Unbounded Beauty DSP; Unbounded Beauty Memories & More Cards; Bordered Ribbon; and In Color Resin Dots & In Color Shimmer Gems. The name of this colour made me think of water, water colouring and the new Seaside Wishes bundle and so designed around these thoughts. Recently, I saw a fella wearing a Summer Splash coloured jacked with Night of Navy trousers - it was so striking so this became the start of my colour combo. The creativity process started with a water-colour wash using Summer Splash Classic ink on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper for the card background. The wide Water Painter was used. Once dry a Summer Splash Stampin Write Marker added some splatter. One of the smaller textural stamps added Summer Splash images underneath the skeleton sea dollars. Only a little of the stamping is visible on the finished card. The sand dollar was stamped in Basic Beige Classic ink onto Very Vanilla card-stock. The star fish were stamped in either Night of Navy or Summer Splash inks. Little white dots were added with a white pen (from the stationery shop). A little of the other colour was blended on to a section of the star to give a bit of shading. The coordinating dies and the Seaside Wishes Hybrid Embossing Folder cut out the stamped images and the skeleton sand dollar dies cut the filigree pieces from Very Vanilla card-stock. The background was embossed with the new So Swirly Embossing Folder. I thought this folder reinforced a sense of the swirly sea. The water-coloured panel was mounted to a slightly larger piece of Summer Splash card-stock and some Linen Thread was wrapped around the panel. All the pieces were arranged and adhered with either Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Mini Dimensionals. A sentiment was white heat embossed onto an off-cut of Summer Splash card-stock and fussy cut. A Linen Twine bow was tucked under the end of the sentiment and adhered with a Glue Dot. The final touch - a scattering of some Flat Adhesive-backed Pearls. Love these pearls. A Very Vanilla card inner was stamped with a Summer Splash sentiment (from the same stamp set). A thin strip of Summer Splash card-stock was adhered near the bottom and a left over skeleton sand dollar and a few star fish link inside the card to the front design. As I custom cut the slim-line card, an envelope was made from some of the Unbounded Beauty DSP - Summer Splash design. A Very Vanilla label, cut using the Unbounded Love dies was adhered to the front of the envelope for writing the name and address. I also created this card with a friend in mind who really helped me out recently - I hope she likes it. Thank you so much for dropping by on your way around the Summer Splash Colour Creations Blog Hop. To continue with the Summer Splash blog hop just click the "next" graphic below to be taken to the blog of the wonderful Judy May. I am looking forward to checking out Judy’s amazing creation(s). One of my favorite new suite of products in the January - April 2023 Mini Catalog is By the Bay. The stamp set has a "by the bay" feel, with sea birds, shells and a crab (and coordinating dies!). But the patterned paper is what first made me swoon! By the Bay DSP is simply gorgeous! With accents of gold foil and pearlized foil as part of the designs, it just won my heart. Today's card is a knock-off of one I saw on the demo website. What do I love? Well first is the patterned paper - a 2" wide strip of one of the patterns (without the gold or pearl foil) mounted on a piece of Sahara Sand. I love the shell pattern in blues and greens. Then, take a look at the right side of the card. Here is where it gets interesting. I embossed a piece of Night of Navy with the Seashells embossing folder (remember that one? From the Friends Are Like Seashells collection? Still a favorite!), and then lightly sponged over the raised areas with White Craft ink to give it a little dimension. The greeting, from Go to Greetings, was stamped on Sahara Sand with Night of Navy ink - stamping on colored cardstock is always nice on a "guy card". And I used a piece of the new Night of Navy Bordered Ribbon, tied in a faux bow. (What's a faux bow? I first wrapped a short piece of the ribbon around the strip, fastening it in the back with tape. Then I slipped another piece of ribbon under the first and tied it--it looks like the ribbon goes all the way around the strip and is tied in a knot, but it's just two short pieces.) Then there's that oyster - I cut it with the Seaside Bay dies using Pearlescent Paper. And look: When opened, there's a pearl - the Adhesive-Backed Flat Pearls are perfect inside this shell! By the Bay is a lovely suite! I hope you'll give it a try.
