You can bet this stamp set was at the top of my list for my first order of the new catalogue. It's a single large stamp called Tropical Hideaway. And it's a perfect match for my blog logo :) Here I have simply stamped it in Pear Pizzazz then layered it onto Pear Pizzazz cardstock then thick basic white cardstock - simple, clean, easy and I love it! The sentiment comes from the Happiness Abounds stamp set and the die cut from the Beautiful Shapes dies. Today we are celebrating Taco Tuesday with a fun waterfall card using Stampin' Up Taco Fiesta Stamp Set. This set is super cute! It has fun images that are so fun. The first thing I thought of was an interactive waterfall card. The card front is a panel of Stampin' Up 2022-24 In Color DSP adhered to a panel of Sweet Sorbet card stock with liquid adhesive. I then adhered the layers to a Starry Sky panel with liquid adhesive. I carefully adhered a strip of DSP toward the bottom of the card front only adhering it on each side. I scored a strip of Starry Sky cardstock at 2", 2 3/4", 3 1/2" and 4 1/4". I punched the end off with Stampin' Up Very Best Trio Punch of the longest end. I tied a piece of Stampin' Up Sweet Sorbet and Parakeet Party Metallic Woven Ribbon to the bottom piece. I die cut 4 squares from Basic White card stock with Stampin' Up Stylish Shapes Dies. I stamped images and a sentiment from Stampin' Up Taco Fiesta with Mementos Tuxedo Black Ink, Parakeet Party and Sweet Sorbet Ink. I colored the images with Stampin' Blends: Soft Suede, Parakeet Party, So Saffron, Gray Granite, Tahitian Tide and Crumb Cake. Next, I layered the die cuts to pieces of Stampin' Up 2022-24 In Colors DSP and to coordinating pieces of Sweet Sorbet, Parakeet Party, Tahitian Tide and Starry Sky card stock. I stacked the squares in the order that I want the waterfall to fall then started adhering bottom square to the base of the scored strip. Then, I adhered each square to each scored area. Check out the quickened video to show how to create: I adhered the waterfall piece to the DSP strip with the long edge behind it. I finished the front off with Stampin' Up 2022-24 In Color Matte Decorative Dots. Supplies and dimensions located at the bottom of the post. Sometimes it's hard to look at a picture of dies and imagine what they will look like when they're cut out. Another Stampin' Up! Demonstrator shared this in a Facebook group, but I thought it was such a great idea I made my own! This is what the images cut from the Poppy Moments Dies look like: Peaceful Moments Bundle (English) $52.00 Peaceful Moments Cling Stamp Set (English) $21.00 Poppy Moments Dies $37.00 Generated by SUDSOL, Free Trial at www.sudsol.org Colors: Basic Black, Calypso Coral, Poppy Parade, Mossy Meadow, Old Olive
No new products today – just some great examples of how you can create beautiful projects where the die-cuts are the stars of the show. I had fun creating backgrounds to show off the Friendly Silhouettes Dies. Let me walk you through them. For these first two projects, I masked a circle using a punched/die-cut sticky note, then brayered the background using Crushed Curry and Poppy Parade ink pads. You could sponge, too – but if you do, make sure you sponge away from the centre of the mask or you could dislodge it. For the top card, I then lightly splashed with water from a fine paintbrush. Allow to dry, then dab it dry with a tissue. This creates this lovely effect which can look like seed heads blowing on the breeze, fireflies, rain or, on a dark blue background, like snow. It’s such a simple effect and so versatile. For this card, I brayered as before, but instead of splashing, I used that same very fine paintbrush to paint fine lines following the edge of the circle. With ideas clearly way above my station, I call this the Van Gogh technique. For the third card, I took the leftover template from the bullrushes in the first card and used this as a mask. I sponged with Pumpkin Pie to create a background image, then removed the mask and brayered around the top edge of the card in Melon Mambo. The beauty of brayering is that you can give it a go in any colours and get some lovely effects. Want to have a go at fun techniques like this? If you’re in the UK, why not talk to me about joining my remote classes?
One of my enduring and favourite things to do is to stamp with flower, leaf and texture images and create floral arrangements that can be used for paper craft projects. I used a couple of stamp sets that will be available in August 2021. One is called Gorgeous Leaves, and the other is going to be available as a freebie when you spend £90, it is called Delicate Dahlias. The other floral stamp that I used is called Color and Contour and it's available in the Annual catalogue 2021-2022 For those of you who may be new to my blog, I have been using and showing people how to use stamps for the last 10 years. Over that time I have enjoyed my personal development as a stamp and paper craft artist, and also sharing that on YouTube through my tutorials. Here is how I stamped the wreath The colours I used where: Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, Poppy Parade, Real Red, Basic Gray, Smoky Slate, Gray Granite and Sahara Sand The following day I cut up the wreath! I know that still fills some of my viewers with dread, but the saying "you can't make a cake without cracking some eggs" comes to mind. Here are the cards I made... The beautiful grey leaves were cut using a new die set called Intricate Leaves, it accompanies the Gorgeous Leaves stamp set, The scalloped rectangles are cut using Scalloped Contours Dies. Can you spot the gold leaf accents? They are from the Artistic Impressions Ephemera pack, they are laser cut pieces perfect for embellishing cards. and here is the tutorial...
