Hello there and welcome to 2020 on the blog! The Just Add Ink team are kicking off the new year with our annual blog hop. It is extra special this year as we are celebrating 10 years and 1000 followers for the Just Add Ink challenges! You may have come from Denita's blog, be starting the blog hop here on my blog, or you can go to Just Add Ink, and then follow the links at the end of each team members blog post on to the next. This year the theme is very appropriately 'Celebrate!'. So many joyful occasions can fall under that theme. For me the first big family event of the year is my daughters birthday, so birthday card it is. I had a blogging break at the end of the last year, and was a bit worried I might be rusty, but the sheer enjoyment of playing with new stuff (TimelessTropical in particular, which ironically was not my first pick from the new SU! mini catalogue) and colouring made putting this card together easier than expected. It really is all about the colouring! I stamped my images in a very light ink and then used SU! Blends (alcohol markers) to no line colour the flowers. I should really have taken step-by-step photos as for most of the process honestly they look pretty ordinary and then at the end the multiple layers of ink, blend and end up looking finished. So my best tip for alcohol marker colouring is to persist and keep adding layers of colour and contrast. Jan McQueen is next on the blog hop, so please go on and check out her fantastic project, and then to the rest of the team. Then come back and join in the challenge we'd love to see your 'Celebrate' project. The more I play with the Timeless Tropical stamp set, the more I like it. I love the 50's-Hawaiian -surfer vibe it has. The co-ordinating products are lots of fun too. The Coastal Weave embossing folder is getting a lot of use, and I love the Braided Burlap Trim too. I used Pool Party for my background panel, and coloured the hibiscus and frangipanis with Blends. I do hope your keeping well and staying safe during these unprecedented times? this months theme is 'Floral' Here is my card using the Poppy Moments Dies My flowers and leaves are created with ink, an aqua painter and fluid 100 watercolour paper, I coloured a sheet of each colour so I had a watercoloured piece in Melon Mambo and another piece in Granny Apple Green I then die cut the poppies from the Melon Mambo piece and lots of leaves and foliage from the Granny Apple Green piece, with all my elements cut, I then decided on my card base, I've used a Night 0f Navy Card base 28cm x 14cm, scored in half at 14cm, then I scored one half again at 7cm to create a z fold card, my front layer and inside layers measure 2 x Melon Mambo at 11.5cm x 11.5cm and 1 x Whisper White and 1 x Night Of Navy @ 11cm x 11cm I love the Melon Mambo with the Night of Navy, I added a few Frosted Epoxy Droplets, my sentiment is heat embossed in white embossing powder on to Night Of Navy Cardstock, everything I've used today is available in my online shop, details below. The Jar of Flowers card was so fun to create and the mason dome shaker makes it really pop. This video shares some great tips and tricks.
While simple to create, the look of this card is striking! I used some retired number dies for this card I was shown by my customer and friend, Victoria Schnepp, but the new Pattern Play Alphabet will be perfect when we can order it on June 3. Cherry Cobbler has been the perfect maroon for my daughter's maroon and grey school, and I had some baker's twine that I was able to color with a Smoky Slate Blends marker for the tassel. Since I used a full size gatefold as the base for the Maroon card, I used a Memories and More notecard since it is larger than the regular medium envelopes. A retired bit of Cherry Cobbler designer series paper made a great liner cover. Luckily, I also had a bit of Smokey Slate Ribbon to use for the collar area too! This card was for a graduate whose favorite color is yellow. The Daffodil Delight is so striking! I cut the gatefold base down to 3-1/2 inches tall, and it fits nicely in a Medium envelope. Hi Stamping Friends! My annual Sale-a-Bration & Mini Catalog Kickoff Party is coming up next weekend! I've been finishing up the designs on the 20 different cards that we'll be creating and I'm excited to show you some sneak peeks this week! If you're in the Fort Wayne,
Purple Posy with Simply Succulents Hi. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the 39th 2020/2021 Colour Creations Showcase by members of the Art with Heart Team. The week we are showcasing a very soft purple, Purple Posy. Purple Posy is part of Stampin' Up! In Colour's collection for 2019-2021. As such, this colour will be retiring soon and once the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue becomes live it will not be available. It is a pretty purple, so if you love it, I recommend not waiting to replenish your supplies because once the retiring list is available In Colours usually sell out quickly. Purple Posy is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads, re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Stampin' Blends, a number of Designer Series Papers, including Playing with Patterns & Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Papers; the Gorgeous Posies Card Kit, Playing with Patterns Resin dots and Playing with Patterns Ribbon, etc. Similar to last week, I have only been able to complete one project in time for the Colour Creations Showcase going live. My second card is still "under construction" and not ready for public consumption. I had numerous interruptions throughout the day so last night's plan of finishing the card quickly this morning, hasn't come to pass. It is almost ready. I need to re-cut and colour some flowers, confirm the arrangement (hmm, that could take me ions as I am NO flower arranger) and then put it together. Hopefully I will be able to add the second card to this blog early in the weekend. Succulents can be so beautiful with their purple tips and they come in a range of colours. (See some examples below.) I decided to colour the Simply Succulent stamp set with Stampin' Blends including the Purple Posy Combo. I also used Light and Dark Gorgeous Grape, Seaside Spray, So Saffron, Soft Sea Foam, Mint Macaron, Pool Party, a little Balmy Blue and the Colour Lifter. The succulents were stamped in Basic Grey Classic Stampin' ink on Basic White card-stock. The succulents were fussy cut. While I could have used the coordinating dies, I decided that I didn't want the white boarder around the single succulents so I fussy cut them all for consistency. To create the card front, the large die from the coordinating Potted Succulents dies was used to cut a background from Basic White card-stock for the filagree layer. This was adhered directly to a piece of Basic White card-stock. I love the subtlety of white on white. A scolloped rectangle from the Stitched So Sweetly dies cut a rectangular hole through both layers near the centre. This card front was positioned over the Purple Posy card-stock base and the hole was penciled in so a hole could be cut in the base card in an aligned position. To frame the hole, the same scalloped die and the next largest die were used to cut 3 frames from Purple Posy card-stock. The 3 frames were adhered together to gain some depth and then adhered to frame the rectangular hole. A sentiment from the Simply Succulent stamp set was stamped in Gorgeous Grape Classic Stampin' ink on Basic White card-stock and with Versamark ink on Highland Heather card-stock and heat embossed with White Stampin' Emboss powder. The top line of the sentiment was die cut with a label from the coordinating Potted Succulents dies, while the scripty word was fussy cut. A slightly smaller Basic White card base was adhered to the inner back of the Purple Posy card base, leaving a small boarder of the purple. The white card opens from the centre out (see a photo below of the opened card and the card inner. A second card front size background die from the Potted Succulents dies was cut in Basic White card-stock and adhered directly to the top of the closed white section of the card-base. The pot from the same stamp set was also stamped in Basic Grey Classic Stampin' ink on a scrap of Basic White card-stock and coloured with the lIght Blackberry Bliss Stampin' Blend together with the light and dark Gorgeous Grape Blends and the light Purple Posy Blend. The Colour Lifter Blend was used to soften the edges of the highlighted area. For consistency, this was fussy cut rather than using the coordinating dies. An edge was cut from one of the Purple Posy rectangles remaining from cutting the frames for the front. This was adhered under a strip of In Good Taste DSP which had been flagged at each end. White twine from the Snail Mail Twine Combo was wrapped around the banner twice and tied in a bow. This banner was adhered directly to the inner white card over the Potted Succulent die cut. The pot and the succulent arrangement were added with Dimensionals. Two of the smaller succulents were added - one on a Dimensional. The positioning of the 2 small succulents needed to appear through the frame when the card was closed and well as look pleasing with the card front open. Glistening opal rounds were added to both the card front and the inner design. Here is a picture of the fully opened card. A sentiment from the stamp set was stamped in Gorgeous Grape ink and one of the single succulents stamped in stamped off Highland Heather Classic Stampin' ink. A C6 Basic White envelope was similarly stamped a few times with a single succulent and stamped off Highland Heather ink. Thank you so much for spending time with me. I do appreciate you calling by. 😘 Catherine Proctor is the lovely host of the Art with Heart Colour Creations Showcase. If you haven't finished visiting all of the team's colour creations, you can visit/revisit Catherine's page at What Cathy Made, where she hosts every link to the participating blogs so you can find everyone's Purple Posy creations. Checking out everyone's creations and their interpretation of the amazing Stampin' Up! colours is always a treat. I hope to see you again next week when members of the team share projects that hero Real Red, which is a pillar box red (yes, next week we are commencing the colours beginning with "R"). Stay well, stay safe and be kind to yourself and others as these strange times continue. Hopefully life with settle to an improved normality in a little while (it is taking longer than I was expecting). Andrea 💕🐾 #colourcreationsshowcase
When I opened my new box of Stampin' Up! 2020 supplies, I just had to use the Peaceful Poppies designer paper from the new Stampin' UP! 2020 Jan-June Mini catalog first!! I created 72 cards with the Peaceful Poppies suite of products by cutting each piece of designer paper into 6 cards fronts. I chopped all of the designer paper into 4' strips and then cut the strips into 5-1/4' x 4' pieces. NOTE: when you cut the design with the poppies on the tall stems (front/center in photo above) be sure to cut that extra 1-1/2' strip out
Welcome back to another Fancy Folds design Team blog hop - its so great to have you with us. Chances are you just popped by from Gina's beautiful blog. . . This month we are featuring "joy cards" and here is my project: I love the Timeless Tropical bundle from the Occasions catalogue and it's quite fitting because tropical holidays are definitely on the agenda at Stampin' Up! at the moment. I made a square joy fold card which is basically a small double card where one car slips inside the other. the openings cross over. I followed Linda Bauwin's easy YouTube tutorial and just adjusted the measurements to suit making it square. My base card is Soft Sea Foam, I mounted the base card on Basic Black and inserted a mount of Basic Black on the inside. I wanted to frame the main part of the card and pop the bright colours. The inserted card is also Soft Sea Foam, mounted with a square of Mint Macaron, Basic Black and Whisper White. The original base card (the larger one which closes with spine at the left) is munted with a rectangle of Basic Black and a printed card from the Tropical Oasis Memories and More Card Pack - it has the printed sentiment - the best is yet to come on it and is simply delightful! I love this sentiment and thought that the leaves frames the hibiscus flowers on the front beautifully. There is also the Tropical Oasis DSP page in a similar design but the colours are not as deep. The second aspect of the card with the spine folding from the right - I lined this with Basic Black and Whisper White card as this is where the message would be written. I plan to gift this card to a downline who is very close to earning the next Stampin' Up! Incentive Trip to the Caribbean. The front of the card is stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Whisper White card and coloured with Stampin' Blends. I used the hibiscus flower from the Timeless Tropical Stamp set. I used: Dark Poppy Parade, Dark Cherry Cobbler, Dark Soft Suede, Dark and Light Pumpkin Pie and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends. For the leaves from the same set I used, Dark Mossy Meadow, Light Old Olive and Dark Mint Macaron Stampin' Blends. I fussy cut the flowers and leaves as I didn't want the little white edge that is generated when you use the In the Tropic Dies. The sentiment is stamped in Memento Ink using the sentiment from Peaceful Moments stamp set. I added a bit of bling using the sequins from the Peaceful Poppies Sequins pack. I added a bit of texture with the 8mm Braided Burlap Trim from the Tropical Oasis Suite and created a border at the top and bottom of the front. I hope you are inspired to try this fold and this suite as they are both beautiful and easy to work with. Don't leave us yet as Mary Ann has the best example for your to case! Thanks for stopping by!
