From time to time I grab some of the garbage rubber -- i.e. rubber cut away during the carving process -- and create "garbage stamps." It doesn't mean that the stamps *are* garbage, rather they have been created *from* garbage! Here's my most recent batch: The process is pretty much the same for each of the stamps: I take a scrap piece of rubber and trim it down to a shape or size I want to work with and then I attack it with my carving tools! All in all, this entire collection of itty bitty stamps took me about...

Hi there. I'm so glad you stopped by! Like a lot of you, I have hoarded a ton of patterned paper. So when I saw that the Double D challenge was asking for patterned paper, I decided to take a break from the UFO box and try to pare down the paper collection. I pulled out a package of paper a sweet friend sent me a few years ago. It has a lot of gold foil running through the designs. I have taken it out so many times and oohed and aahed over the beautiful patterns and carefully put them back in the package. I was determined to use some. The hardest part was choosing which pattern to use! I just cut this piece to a bit smaller than a card front and added a thin frame and hello die cut from gold foil. I punched a few tiny dots to add here and there too. The selections of paper had some printed vellum designs too and I got really brave.... Isn't it pretty? I cut a bit from the top and bottom and wrapped the sides around a piece of white cardstock, wrapped some gold twine around a few times and tied a bow. The next photo shows the gold better. I'm so glad I finally decided to put some of this gorgeous paper on a card! Our Craft Group is going to use patterned paper for our swaps next month so I think I'll be using some more of this paper. Sometimes when I emboss vellum, it cracks. You can hide the cracks by mounting it on a white panel. What about when you don't want white on white? So I started thinking about how to hide the cracks. One of my favorite techniques is to rub a ink pad on an embossing folder. I thought maybe using white pigment ink would hide the cracks. So I rubbed my favorite white pigment ink, Hero Arts Unicorn on the embossing folder. Remember that if you rub the pad onto the RAISED areas of the embossing folder, it will push the ink into the RECESSED areas of the embossed panel. If I rubbed the ink on the top side of the folder, where I usually do, it would push the ink into the backround, not what I wanted. I want the ink to hit the leaves and branches, the raised areas of the panel after embossing. I usually do this by embossing the paper first, then taking an ink pad and carefully rubbing it over the raised areas. But when the image doesn't fully cover the panel, sometimes ink gets where I don't want it to by, namely the background, and I end up with a messy panel. Several people told me it's difficult for them to rub the ink pad over the panel. If when you rub the ink pad over the embossing folder, wipe the ink off any places you don't want ink to end up. Here is my YouTube video of how I applied the ink, sometimes seeing is easier than reading. How to attach vellum to a panel without seeing glue? Cut the vellum longer than the panel and fold over the excess. Put the adhesive on the fold and attach to the back of the panel. If you look under the video in the description, the products are linked. I don't have an affiliate link to Simon Says Stamp but I have links for the other products where available. The vellum I used is 65 lb Darice brand, this is a very old pack, I'm not even sure Darice is still in business. Also I should mention that the Scalloped Frame I used for one card is by Lawn Fawn, also very old. Note that the colors of the inked panels behind the vellum are very bright, the vellum softens the colors quite a bit. You can see that in the video. My links are in the description under the YouTube video, everytime I try linking products here, they kick my video off because they think it's spam. So here is a link to Scrapbookcom and Spellbinders, where I buy most of my products. Using my links, at no additional cost to you, lets me and these companies know you find my content useful. I do get to see which tutorials are helpful and which are not. So thank you to the people who have used my links! I post several times a week on Instagram @Susanbcards. Thanks for looking, Susan
