Hello and Happy Hump Day! It's time for another Paper Craft Crew challenge and this is one that I believe everyone will love! It's an Spring in Bloom Inspiration Challenge.. how fun! I just received my Timeless Tropical Bundle from Stampin' Up! so I couldn't wait to ink it up. It is a heavy sketch type of stamp and after looking at pretty much everything on Pinterest I decided to stamp it in a Melon Mambo and use my Stampin' Blends. I really love how it turned out! For my background I used a piece of watercolor paper and Pigment Sprinkles in Bermuda Bay and Granny Apple Green for a watercolored background. I spritzed the watercolor paper with water first and added the Bermuda Bay towards the top of the panel and sprayed three or so more times to alow the color to move and then dried with my heat tool. I did the same thing on the bottom of the panel with the Granny Apple Green. Once it was completely dry I splattered a little bit of white paint on it and matted it in Whisper White. I stamped my flower onto Whisper White Cardstock in Melon Mambo. The leaves were stamped in Garden Green on Whisper White as well. I used light and dark Lovely Lipstick and Daffodil Delight Blends to color in the flower and Light and Dark Mossy Meadow to color in the leaves. I adhered the flower and leaves with Dimensionals. The "aloha" from the coordinating dies was cut out in Whisper White twice and adhered one on top of the other and then glued the layered aloha onto the upper right side of the card front panel. The matted floral layer was added to the Bermuda Bay top folding card base with Multipurpose Adhesive. To finished it off I added three sequins from the SAB freebie Metallic baker's twine and sequins combo pack. I adore how it turned out. I thought about adding another flower but the background was so striking that I hated to cover it up! I was waylaid from sharing the other Timeless Tropical bundle cards but here they are now. Both cards are adapted using mostly the same elements from my original class card you'll find here. You'll see all the cards together at the end of this post too. Version 1 is a remix of the original class kit, with the frangipani taking over from the hibiscus in the original. Still loving that amazing bird of paradise paper print too. The frangipani's are stamped in Saddle Brown Staz On ink and coloured with a little watercolour pencil blended out with an Aqua Painter. The sentiment in Soft Suede ink which was stamped off once. Inside is super simple - coordinating sentiment (Soft Suede not stamped off - oops) and another frangipani. I'm so glad I can stamp as many of them as I like, as I'm not very good at keeping the real ones alive. Version 2 - I mixed it up with a print from the Birthday Bonanza paper pack - yes the cute pack with koalas & lions & birds! - plus a Crumb Cake panel embossed with the Coastal Weave 3d embossing folder. Sadly this one's not carrying over to the new catalogue so get it now. I created a cluster of hibiscus & frangipani using the same pieces as the class version, and added some greenery using the top of the pineapple die in the bundle. I had one more coloured hibiscus so I added that inside. So that's the full set of themed cards shared using the Timeless Tropical Bundle and Tropical Oasis suite. Here they all are together. I used the pretty hibiscus flower image from the Stampin’ Up! Timeless Tropical stamp set bundle in create a birthday card to share with you today.
As you probably already know, I love to copy the samples from the Catalogue, especially when it's a brand new Catalogue! You'll find a card very similar to this one on page 38 of the new Mini Catalogue. I love this hibiscus and frangipanis from the Timeless Tropical stamp set. They were quick and easy to colour with Blends too. That Burlap Trim and Coastal Weave Embossing Folder add the perfect rustic touch. I wish I was lying on a hammock right now under the palm trees and beautiful sunshine. As it is, as I write this, it's dreary and rainy outside. To achieve the two-color ink on the trees, I stamped the top portion in Mossy Meadow. Then, very carefully, I wiped off the ink from the trunks of the trees with a paper towel. Then, I used a Soft Suede marker to color in the trunks. Thanks for stopping by! Jennifer Timko is our sketch hostess this week at Freshly Made Sketches and she has a great sketch for us. My card is a pretty literal take on that sketch. The last few weeks have seen me actually want to craft and color - for the first time since we lost our son 10 months ago. It's been a hard road and will be for the rest of my life, but I know he wants me to do what I love, so I'm trying. This image was colored with a mix of Copics and Prismacolor pencils. Once it was colored, I die-cut it with the matching die and set it aside. The card base is white and I took a white card front and cut a strip out of it. Behind that strip I added an embossed navy panel, using foam tape to separate the navy from the top panel. The circle was die-cut and adhered with foam tape again and the flower was added around the edge. As you can see from this close-up of the flower, I used mostly pencils for the petals and Copics for the leaves and branch. Thanks for visiting. Happy New Year! In the crafting world, a new year does, of course, mean new stamps! Flower power is not my area but something odd has happened: I've gone bafflingly botanical! I honestly don't know what's come over me but I do know that I love this new stamp set, Timeless Tropical, which is coming to Stampin' Up!® on 3rd Jan. What do you think? For this project I used a few different techniques to really bring it all together. The faux suede background added additional texture to the cool 3D embossed layer. I added a bit of depth to the colors on the pineapple with the some drops of ink in a Spritzer to give it a bit more interest. The softness of the vellum is such a great contrast to all the other details in the layers.
