January 2, 2023 Oh, I love me some guacamole…so the Stampin’ UP! Taco Fiesta drew me in! I do wish there were die cuts…but I managed to make a card without having to fussy cutR…
Yesterday I shared quick and easy notecards using the Taco Fiesta Stamp Set. Today, I'm sharing a bright, colorful card that uses a bunch of the images together! Taco Fiesta Card Details: My card
Happy Sunday, friends! Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players! This week, the always lovely Laurie is hosting our Sketch Challenge. I’m always down for a Sketch Challenge and Laurie has a good one this week! There is SO much possibility with this one. You can keep it clean and simple or add some extra layers too. I’ll be storing this one in the “favorites” for sure. I sure hope you will get crafty and join us over at The Paper Players and share your card creation with this sketch! *I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post. Color Combo: Sweet Sorbet Basic Black Granny Apple Green Daffodil Delight As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew which stamp set I was going to use and it’s a sneak peek of a new set coming out in the Stampin’ Up!® Mini Catalog in January! The new Taco Fiesta stamp set is SO MUCH FUN! The even more amazing thing is that it was designed by my sweet friend and team leader Erica Cerwin from Pink Buckaroo Designs for her $1 Million Dollar sales milestone. This set isn’t even available for demonstrators to pre-order yet...so I was over-the-moon when Erica gave me one for my birthday!!! Of course, I made sure that she signed it because having your own stamp set pretty much makes you a stamping celebrity, right? Erica is so awesome and I couldn’t be more proud of her! Seriously though, how cute is this set? Erica lives in San Antonio, just like me, and this is just so perfect because tacos are pretty much the sixth basic food group here. I especially love a good “punny” sentiment and the fact that you can add little faces to the images just makes it even more adorable, in my opinion. The images are great to color with Stampin’ Blends and although there aren’t coordinating dies for the set, the images are pretty easy to cut out for extra detail. It’s tough to see in the photos but I also added some Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to the lettuce and tomatoes for some added sparkle. So, the big question is: are you Team Crispy Taco or Team Soft Taco? Just like the trio of tacos on my card, I prefer both. Soft tacos are the best for breakfast tacos (it’s a thing, I promise) but for “dinner tacos” I’m more of a crispy taco gal. But you just can’t beat a good homemade soft tortilla…and now I’m hungry. Long time, no TACO. Just kidding, I had tacos yesterday. Haha! Card Measurements & Details: Sweet Sorbet Card Base: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4” Basic Black Cardstock: 5-1/4” x 4” Granny Apple Green Cardstock: 5-1/8” x 3-7/8”, emboss with Gingham Embossing Folder Brights Designer Series Paper (Daffodil Delight): 5-1/8” x 3" 2022-2024 In Color Glimmer Paper (Sweet Sorbet): 5-1/8” x 1/2”, die cut scalloped border with Scalloped Contour Dies Basic White Cardstock: scrap to cut out a 3-1/2” x 2-1/4” rectangle from Stitched Rectangle Dies Basic White Cardstock: scrap for stamping / fussy-cutting the taco and sombrero Sweet Sorbet Cardstock: 3” x (just under) 1/2”, stamp sentiment in Momento ink and punch right side with Banners Pick A Punch Essentials Baker’s Twine (black) and Adhesive-Backed Seasonal Sequins Basic White Cardstock (card interior): 5-1/4” x 4” Brights Designer Series Paper (Granny Apple Green, card interior): 1/2” x 4” Finally, here is a peek inside the card! I added a little strip of Granny Apple Green DSP along with some stamping. Let’s be honest, you can never have TOO many tacos with mustached faces on your card, right? I also popped in an itty bitty chili pepper…because I like my tacos with some extra spice! I left the rest of the inside blank for a hand-penned message to a friend. I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Sketch Challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday December 2nd, 2022. Taco Fiesta may be the cutest stamp set in our Stampin’ Up! mini catalog (page 48). As a Californian, tacos are one of our dining staples. The images and sentiments in this set are so cute and funny. The stamp set was designed by one of our Demonstrators who reached a career sales milestone of […]
When I did my demonstrator pre-order for the Jan.-April mini catalog way back in early December the Taco Fiesta set was at the very top of my wish list! It's such fun set with so many adorable images that I had a hard time deciding which ones I wanted to use for today's card! Erica Cerwin knocked it out of the park designing this set to celebrate her $1 million sales achievement! The Paper Players challenge gave me a little bit of a start as they are challenging us to use a tag or tags on our card. I had a bunch already pre-cut left from another project so I got to work! The card front is a piece of Regency Park DSP in a sweet Mango Melody polka dot pattern. I added a strip of Basic Black just to give some depth behind the tags. I stamped all of my images in Memento Black and then colored them in with Stampin' Blends markers (colors listed below). Since the images are on the smaller side it really doesn't take very long to color them all in so don't be intimidated by the open spaces in the images. I used my Color Lifter marker to make the stripes and dots on the cacti.Once they were colored I fussy cut them, again they are smaller so it doesn't take long at all. Next, I arranged the images on the tags and adhered them with dimensionals. I added 2 strands of black baker's twine to each tag and trimmed the ends. The tags are then adhered to the card front with more dimensionals. Finally I embossed the sentiment in white onto a piece of Basic Black card stock and added it to the middle taco tag. These bright colors and sweet images just made me smile....and I didn't even use the adorable faces that come in the set. I'm sure you'll be seeing a lot more of this set in the coming months. Don't blame me if it makes you crave some Mexican food for dinner! Thanks for looking! Did you stamp today? Today we are celebrating Taco Tuesday with a fun waterfall card using Stampin' Up Taco Fiesta Stamp Set. This set is super cute! It has fun images that are so fun. The first thing I thought of was an interactive waterfall card. The card front is a panel of Stampin' Up 2022-24 In Color DSP adhered to a panel of Sweet Sorbet card stock with liquid adhesive. I then adhered the layers to a Starry Sky panel with liquid adhesive. I carefully adhered a strip of DSP toward the bottom of the card front only adhering it on each side. I scored a strip of Starry Sky cardstock at 2", 2 3/4", 3 1/2" and 4 1/4". I punched the end off with Stampin' Up Very Best Trio Punch of the longest end. I tied a piece of Stampin' Up Sweet Sorbet and Parakeet Party Metallic Woven Ribbon to the bottom piece. I die cut 4 squares from Basic White card stock with Stampin' Up Stylish Shapes Dies. I stamped images and a sentiment from Stampin' Up Taco Fiesta with Mementos Tuxedo Black Ink, Parakeet Party and Sweet Sorbet Ink. I colored the images with Stampin' Blends: Soft Suede, Parakeet Party, So Saffron, Gray Granite, Tahitian Tide and Crumb Cake. Next, I layered the die cuts to pieces of Stampin' Up 2022-24 In Colors DSP and to coordinating pieces of Sweet Sorbet, Parakeet Party, Tahitian Tide and Starry Sky card stock. I stacked the squares in the order that I want the waterfall to fall then started adhering bottom square to the base of the scored strip. Then, I adhered each square to each scored area. Check out the quickened video to show how to create: I adhered the waterfall piece to the DSP strip with the long edge behind it. I finished the front off with Stampin' Up 2022-24 In Color Matte Decorative Dots. Supplies and dimensions located at the bottom of the post.
