I'm sharing this Stamperia Vintage Christmas Kitchen Easel Card with lots of tips, techniques and ideas that you can use in your own crafty adventures.
Stamperia Christmas Collections are in stock at The Funkie Junkie Boutique! Good morning and happy Saturday!! Maggi here to share a couple of cards suitable for mailing and a tag that will make your gift extra special. Stamperia has several gorgeous Christmas collections that look so vintage, you're going to love them! Some of Stamperia's collections are done in traditional colors, while others are more Victorian. You can find all of these collections at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. I have 3 tutorials for you using two two of their Christmas collections, Pink Christmas and Christmas Vintage. This is a long post with lots of photos so grab your favorite beverage and snack and read on! A Card with Stamperia's Pink Christmas Pink Christmas is a beautiful vintage collection done in Victorian colors of teal, pinks and rose. The collection is made up of gorgeous images that are perfect for fussy cutting. Note: Ink all the papers if you wish. I used Distress Ink in Worn Lipstick and Iced Spruce. Pink Christmas Card Tutorial - Step 1: Locate and trim out the roses, deer and candle images shown below from the 12 x 12 Stamperia Pink Christmas paper pack. Trim the candle cut-apart o 3 3/4" x 5 5/8". Note that I used a scalloped circle die to diecut the pink roses paper but it would look just as great to fussy cut it out in a circle shape. Cut a 3 7/8" diameter circle from the pink print paper. Cut a 2" x 1" flap from cream cardstock and fold in half. Glue one side of the flap to the back of the circle as shown below. Step 2: Adhere the cream flap to the backside of the candle image as shown in the 1st photo so that the circle folds over the candle image as shown in the 2nd photo below. Glue the roses image to the outside of the circle. (Not shown) Step 3: Open the flap out and adhere the deer image on the inside as shown below. Step 4: Cut a border strip from silver paper with the Mini Scalloped Impresslits Embossing Folder. Lightly ink with Stonewashed alcohol ink. Step 5: Cut a green card base 9 1/2" x 6 3/8" and score at 4 3/4". Cut a teal floral layer 4 1/4" x 6". Adhere the border strip from Step 4 over the right edge of the blue floral layer as shown so that it's edge is just beneath the candle cut-apart layer. Then adhere the candle and circle assembly over the blue floral layer. Step 6: Cut a 4 1/8" x 5 7/8" piece of design paper as shown below and adhere to the inside of the card. That's it! This is such a pretty card that is flat and therefore suitable for mailing. If you don't plan to mail the card, you can add some flowers to the front of the card making it even more stunning! Gift tag with Stamperia Pink Christmas Pink Christmas Gift Tag Tutorial - Step 1: We'll use a large ivory Graphic 45 tag as the base for this tag. Die-cut a pink floral tag using Graphic 45's large tag die from the Stamperia Pink Christmas 12 x 12 collection. Notice the blank space between the top and bottom of the pink die-cut. Well, I am really miserly with my papers so for this tag I used a scrap of paper that was shorter than the length of the tag. Since the center of the tag is going to be covered with other paper, that is ok! So, I just die-cut a short tag, cut 2" off the bottom and rounded the corners. Then I adhered the small piece to the bottom and the larger piece to the top. Cut a 3 3/4" piece of Venetian lace and adhere over the pink paper at the bottom. (Ink the edges of the papers for this tag as desired with Distress Ink in Tattered Rose and Iced Spruce.) Step 2: Next cut a piece of teal paper as shown 3 3/4" x 3 1/2". If you have a border punch, punch the bottom as shown and adhere to the tag so that it just laps over the top of the lace. Step 3: Next cut out the square "for you" cut-apart shown and the circular Merry Christmas cut-apart. I used scalloped dies to cut both the square and circle but it is not necessary to use a die. Trimming with scissors will look great too! Now cut two 4" circles. (Again, I used a die to cut mine but just a plain 4" circle will look great too.) Notice that one of my circles is just part of a circle. Well, I only had a little piece of cardstock that I thought matched nicely with the papers so I just made it work! The missing part of the circle isn't needed anyway! I applied embossing ink around the edges of the two circles, sprinkled with Emerald Creek Soft Fallen Snow embossing powder and heated. Step 4: Adhere a circle at the top left. Then position the square cut-apart over the circle and use foam dimensional tape to adhere over the circle. Use foam dimensional tape to pop up the 2nd circle and position as shown in the photo. Add the Merry Christmas circular cut-apart, using foam dimensional tape to pop it up. Step 5: Select 3 Tim Holtz Christmas Typed Tokens and dab with a white paint dabber, being sure to get white paint embedded in the lettering. Then wipe the paint from the surface so that just the words are white. Adhere at the bottom of the tag as shown below. Use tiny pearls to cover the holes. Step 6: Add some small flowers around the circular cut-apart and a white seam binding bow at the top. That's all there is to it. The recipient of a gift adorned with this tag will feel extra special! Easel Gift Card Holder with Stamperia's Vintage Christmas This last card is made with the Vintage Christmas collection which is done in more traditional Christmas colors and images. I love the holly sprigs, bells, and Christmas trees sprinkled throughout the collection. The card is an easel card with a twist. Not only does it have an easel but it opens up like a traditional card and has a place to tuck in cash or a gift card. Vintage Christmas Easel Card Tutorial - Step 1: Cut a 8" x 12" piece of red cardstock. Score horizontally at 6" and vertically at 4". Step 2: Cut out the upper left rectangle along the score lines as shown in the photo below. Keep the cut out rectangle as we'll use it in Step 4. Step 3: Fold as shown below. Step 4: The red rectangle pictured below is the piece we cut out in Step 2. Cut a 3 7/8" x 5 7/8" rectangle from green snowy paper, (top right). Locate the cut-apart shown and trim out. Cut a rectangle (I used a scalloped die) from the red with trees paper 2 3/4" x 4" and trim out the birds tag shown below. Step 5: Score the red cardstock flap at 3" and fold up as shown in the photo and set aside. Layer and adhere the green snowy paper over the red cardstock. Next adhere the cut-apart with the bells over the green snowy paper. Use dimensional foam tape to adhere the next layer, the red with trees. Adhere the final layer, the birds tag. Now, adhere this assembly to the face of the folded piece by adhering the top 3" of the layered piece to the 3" face of the folded up piece. (See the 3rd photo in Step 6.) Step 6: Cut a piece 3 3/4" x 5 3/4" and adhere underneath the flap. (This is the bottom right corner of the card if the cardstock is laid out flat.) Cut out the tag shown below and adhere about 1 1/4" from the bottom of the card and centered. This is how the easel mechanism should look. Step 7: Cut a piece 3 3/4" x 5 5/8" from the blue snowy paper and round the corners if you wish. Cut out the Christmas tree (round the corners if you wish) and the circular Greetings cut-aparts shown. Step 8: Open the card such that the easel mechanism is on the left and the card opens in the traditional manner. Adhere the tree cut-apart to the right side and adhere the snowy paper to the left side. Put adhesive on the back of the circle cut-apart around the edges but leaving enough room at the top so that cash or a gift card can slide inside. Detail the berries on the holly sprigs with Stickles to add a sparkly element to the card. That's it, all finished! The front of the card forms a pretty easel allowing the recipient to display this unique card for all to see. Inside the card there's lots of room for a personal message and a gift card too. Thanks so much for joining me for this long post!! I hope these tutorials give you some ideas for all your Christmas craft cards, tags and projects! Hello friends! I am back on board after spending two wonderful months wandering around the wilds of Alaska and Canada. Many thanks to Linda and all the design team for filling in for me while I was rejuvenating my soul with the sights of this beautiful land. Today's spotlight shines on an Italian company, Stamperia. Their gorgeous products are a favorite of mine so I am delighted to share tutorials to make three different cards with three different lines from Stamperia. You can find many Stamperia products at The Funkie Junkie Boutique, so be sure to stop by and take a look at all the loveliness! Let's kick things off with one of my favorite card types, the step card. I love this card because it stands on its own and has so much dimension. I used Stamperia's Oriental Garden to make this card. I have always loved the unique imagery of Oriental art and this collection does not disappoint. Step Card with Stamperia's Oriental Garden TUTORIAL - Step Card 1. Cut a step card base, 5 7/8" x 11" from black cardstock. Click this link, downloadable template, to download the card template so that you can read the measurements. (If you have a Silhouette Cameo or similar machine you can set the card up on the machine to cut for you and then you'll always have the card base ready to use for other cards and you can adjust the size to your requirements. Silhouette has a template that you can purchase also.) The step card looks like this when folded. 2. Locate the paper shown in the photograph below. Cut off the white edges all around the page. Then cut from the bottom sides as shown in the photograph 2 - 1" x 4" strips, from the bottom , a 5 3/4" x 1 1/8" strip and then a rectangle 3 3/8" x 4 3/8". (All measurements in my tutorials are width x height.) Ink the edges as desired with Distress Black Soot. 3. Cut out the circle and sentiment shown in the photo. 4. Adhere the pieces cut in Step 2 as shown. The shorter strips go on the side strips of the fold mechanism, the rectangle goes on the center panel with the longer strip at the bottom. 5. Add dimensional foam to pop up the circle and adhere over the center panel being sure NOT to adhere any part of the circle to the side strips. 6. Now let's work on the inside of the card. Cut a piece 5 7/8" x 4 1/8" and a piece 3 3/8" x 1 1/8" and adhere as shown in the below photo to the bottom panel of the card. Add a silver medallion in the center as shown. 7. Oriental Garden includes a nice selection of sentiments, cut one out and adhere to the front left panel as shown. Use foam tape to pop up the sentiment. And a pretty bow tied from seam binding or whatever you wish. Now the card is ready and is relatively flat so that it can be easily mailed. Well, you know me, I put flowers on everything so this is how I chose to finish up the card. Supplies from The Funkie Junkie Boutique Stamperia Oriental Garden Collection Distress Black Soot Round Antique Silver Filigree Ranger Adhesive Foam Roll Other Products Black Cardstock Seam Binding Petaloo Roses Card with Stamperia's Grand Hotel Now let's take a look at Stamperia's Grand Hotel collection. This is a lovely collection filled with vintage images and florals that will take you back to the era of big fancy hotels patronized by finely dressed ladies and dashing gentlemen. TUTORIAL - A Simple Layered Card 1. Begin by cutting a cream card base 11 1/4" x 7 1/2", score at 5 5/8". Then cut a rectangle from the blue floral shown 5 3/8" x 7 1/4". Cut from the red striped paper a piece 4 3/8" x 6 1/4" (I cut mine with a scalloped die). Next trim the cut-apart shown from the page of cut-aparts to 3 1/2" x 5 1/2". 2. Wrap red twin around the cut-apart and tie on a small charm as shown. 3. Adhere the red striped paper to the blue floral centering. Then use foam tape or cardboard on the back of the cut-apart to pop up and adhere onto the red striped paper, centering. 4. Adhere the assembly from step 3 to the front of the cream card base. Add some tiny flowers over the twine as shown. 5. Cut a border 1 3/4" x 7 1/2" and adhere inside the card adjacent to the score line. Nice, easy to make card, easy to mail, score! Supplies from The Funkie Junkie Boutique Stamperia Grand Hotel Collection Burlap String - Red Small Charm - There's a great selection of charms in the Boutique Ranger Adhesive Foam Roll Distress Hickory Smoke Ink Other Supplies Cream Cardstock Tiny Red Flowers Masculine Card with Stamperia's Cosmos Cosmos is a beautiful collection of images that evoke the night sky and the creatures that roam in the evening. It appeals to the side of me that loves nature. 1. Begin by cutting a khaki colored card base 10 1/4" x 6 1/4". Score at 5 1/8". Cut out the owl cut-apart, 3 1/4" x 5 1/8", as shown below from the cut-apart page and a sentiment from the sentiments page. 2. Cut a piece 4 7/8" x 6" from the patterned paper shown below. Then tear from the cardstock used for the base, a piece about 4" x 5 7/8". Paint a thin line of water along where you want the cardstock to tear. This ensure that your cardstock tears where you want it to tear! 3. Pop up the owl cut-apart with foam adhesive tape and adhere to the cardstock. 4. Adhere the patterned piece from Step 2 to the front of the card base, centering. Then adhere the owl and cardstock from Step 3 over the patterned paper on the left side as shown in the photo below. Attach a Typed Token to the sentiment as shown and then adhere the sentiment on the side, just under the edge of the owl cut-apart. 5. Cut a piece of cream cardstock for the inside 4 3/4" x 4 1/2"v and adhere to the right side. Cut a border from the back of the last page in the paper pack 4 3/4" x 1 3/8". Add a piece of washi tape over the border 4 3/4" long. Adhere two Typed Tokens as shown to the washi tape. All finished. Hi everyone and welcome. It's the start of a new challenge theme over at the The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog (formerly the Frilly and Funkie Challenge blog). It's Ginny's turn to host and this time the challenge is called 'Terrific Tags'. "Add it to a gift, label a homemade tasty treat, or display it with your favorite home decor, tags are not only fun to create they also have a million uses. For this challenge create a tag that's big or small, mixed media or layered, or added to a project as a fabulous focal point. I can't wait to see your creations!" As ever, the Design Team will choose their top four picks, with the winner being invited to join us in a Guest DT spot at The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog and the next three will receive Top 3 badges to display on their blogs. Everyone who enters and follows the rules will be entered into the draw to have the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. For this one I have used Stamperia's new Oriental Garden paper pack to create a vintage style tag with lots of delicate layers. Before adding any of the gorgeous Oriental inspired paper I began by painting the tag with a base of black gesso followed by Dina Wakley Media Paint in Aloe, sanding it back slightly when dry to match the worn look of Stamperia's designs. The largest piece in the background is actually taken from the front cover - there's no need to waste a scrap of this pack! Texture Paste was then applied through one of Tim Holtz floral stencils before fabric, lace from Linda's store (coloured with more Aloe and Ocean paints) tea stained copier paper and one of the panels from the paper pack. After adding one of the circle images from the pack to the centre of the tag it was time to get more texture onto the tag and add some more detail. The lace from Linda's store was coloured with Aloe and Ocean Dina Wakley Media Paints (water it down to get a softer look in keeping with the paper collection). Linda also carries a great range of filigree metal embellishments in her shop and the circular ones fit perfectly with this theme. The flowers and leaves were die cut using a couple of Tim Holtz Thinlits Die sets - I used paper from the pack for the flowers and painted the leaf stems with a mix of Aloe, Umber and Ancient Dina Wakley Media paints. The tag needed a dimensional focal point so I opted to cover some moldable plastic with red fabric and cut a Tattered Butterfly, shaping it with a heat tool. This was then layered over wire and a word (Dina Wakley Collage Words) and the tag was done! So that's my take on the theme 'Terrific Tags' for the current The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog challenge. My fantastic team mates have created lots more amazing tags for this challenge so make sure you hop on over and check them out HERE. And remember to link up your own shabby chic or vintage tags to be in with a chance of winning one of the fabulous prizes. Hello friends! It's time for the newest challenge at The Funkie Junkie Boutique blog, and it's my turn to host. I picked the theme, "Purple, Orange, Green! Eek! It's Halloween!". Make sure you read the full description, because I offer an alternative to play, even if you're not a fan of Halloween. "I love Halloween, and I would love to see your vintage or shabby chic Halloween creations, whether it be a card, tag, canvas, or any other make! If Halloween is not your cup of tea, simply use the colors purple, orange and green on your project to play along." As always, the winner will earn a chance to be a Guest Designer at a future date at The Funkie Junkie Boutique challenge blog, and everyone who enters and follows the rules will go into the draw for the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. There are also Top 3 Badges for three additional outstanding entries, chosen by the Design Team. Please see the blog for details. While you are there, be sure to check out all the amazing inspiration by my talented teammates. I decided to go with both options of the challenge and made purple, orange, and green Halloween cards using Tim Holtz Abandoned Paper Stash and his Haunted Thinlits die set for each one. Here is my favorite... I cut extra bats and an extra house out of silver metallic kraft stock to provide highlights. I left the little bits in the house and secured them in place with tape on the reverse side of the die cut. I don't have much in the way of step by step photos for these cards, because they are pretty simple and really are just a matter of assembling the detailed haunted house and gluing. Each of the houses was cut from backgrounds I already had in my stash. I just added different inks to each to make it a bit more spooky: Black Soot, Forest Moss, Frayed Burlap, Walnut Stain and Ground Espresso. This one is Cracked Leather smeared with matte wax. You might notice I cut the shutter off from the side of the house. That was because my background was just a bit too narrow. This is the only "technique" I used on these cards, and it's an old favorite of mine at Halloween time. Sand metallic kraft stock and smear it with paint (Black Soot). Spritz the paint with water immediately, and dry with a heat tool. I used this panel to cut the detail bits (shutters, roof, etc.) with. There are embossed lines on the house die cuts to guide you in adding the little bits, but if you look closely, I missed the mark almost 100% of the time. I'm as blind as a BAT, even with my readers on. I should have waited until I had a sunny day to add these, because they sure show up in the sun! LOL I added a bit of interest to the Abandoned papers with Stitches stamping in Black Soot Archival ink and a couple of old Halloween Remnant Rubs. The moon is cut using the moon from this year's Gatekeeper set by Tim Holtz and some mop up paper I had in my stash. Anytime I have a puddle of ink, I mop it up with these sheets of paper I keep handy. They are perfect to have on hand for these little die cuts. The bats are also from Gatekeeper set and last year's Bat Crazy. I love how Tim's products work so well with his past releases. The crescent moon on this card is from Tim's old Haunted House set. An extra mat cut from textured card looks like burnt wood with a direct-to-paper swipe of Archival Black Soot ink pad around the edges. Little details can give simple cards like these a little extra something. I used some of the text from the Curiosities sticker book as my sentiments on each card You can see from the weird angle below, that each of the houses was popped up on corrugated waste cardboard to add dimension. That's all for me today. Now it's over to you! I hope you will get your crafty supplies out and create something for Halloween, or in the purple/orange/green color palette and link it up to the challenge for a chance to win one of the great prizes. Happy crafting! Sara Emily I'll leave you with a bit more Halloween inspiration, this time from my garden. We were having one of those beautiful rare October morning fogs... Hi friends and happy New Year to you! I enjoyed a wonderful long weekend with crafting with my mom, who so graciously bought me a pack of 12x12" Stamperia Arctic Antarctic scrapbook paper for our cardmaking day together. We spent New Year's Day and the day after working together on these and I wanted to share the results with you. We specifically chose the winter elements for our cards, saving the whales for another summer session, in which we hope to make a small book. It's always hard to show the dimension on collage style cards through a photo, but here is a close up so you can see those wonderful tatty layers, covered in Stampendous Shaved Ice. The trick is to dip a paint brush into matte Mod Podge, then dip into the "snow" and brush onto your pieces. These words are from my free printable Christmas word collection found on THIS post. I hope these cards having inspired you to stay creative this winter. This fall my mom and I made some cards with the Stamperia 8x8" Forest Paper Pack and I never got around to sharing them, so I will try to add a new post with those soon. Wishing a blessed 2021 my friends! Hugs, Autumn I am happy to get to share with: Simon Says Stamp Monday: Something New or Unused Simon Says Stamp Wednesday: Sparkle and Shine

Hello and welcome! Today we start a new challenge at The Funkie Junkie Boutique blog and this time super talented Maggi is our hostess. She titles her challenge 'It's the Holidays' and here's how she describes it: This is such a busy time of the year that it's hard to find anytime to pursue our paper passion! With that in mind, I designed a challenge that will hopefully give you some needed crafting time, while making something useful for the holiday season that is upon us! For this challenge, create a vintage or shabby chic card, tag, gift box, bag, anything holiday related, that you can use over the holidays. As always, the winner will earn a chance to be a Guest Designer at a future date at The Funkie Junkie Boutique blog, and everyone who enters and follows the rules will go into the draw for the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. There are also Top 3 Badges for three additional outstanding entries, chosen by the Design Team. Please see the blog for details. Like everyone else, as we move closer to Christmas I find my time to craft grows more and more limited. So I needed to do some 'assembly line' type cards. I wanted them to be flat for easy and more economical posting. Some gorgeous card backgrounds from Stamperia's 12 x 12 Blue Stars paper pack make fast work of these respectably sized cards--each measures approximately 4 x 6 inches. Using limited products and following a central theme makes the making go faster; not much thinking involved. I trimmed the cards and added various mediums and stencil work. Most of the mixed media work is already done on the paper, even some stitching. That's such a bonus, because threading my sewing machine is never fun for me. In the closeups, I'll describe what's been added to each. After that, it's just a matter of sticking the backgrounds down to card blanks and embellishing them with Tim Holtz Christmas Paper Dolls, snowflake die cuts (Flurry #1, Flurry #2 and Mini Paper Snowflakes Thinlits dies by Tim Holtz) and Christmas Clippings Stickers. Each of the Paper Dolls has been swiped with Vintage Photo crayon and a damp finger to age them further. Here are close ups of each of the cards. The first one has monoprint stencil work done to the background. I used Tim Holtz Holiday Knit Layering stencil with Tumbled Glass and Broken China Oxides. The two Mini Paper Snowflakes were embossed with Versamark ink and Ranger Flurries Speckles Powder. I smeared Grit Paste at the bottom to give the boy a snowy drift to stand in. Click on the photos to enlarge. This second card is so simple and is my favorite. The Flurry # 2 die cut was smeared with Prima White Gold Metallique Wax and then sprinkled with Flurries powder and heated. I did the same to make the icy ground. I love the effect of the speckles melting into the vintage gold wax; a second dip into the powder adds more texture. A Paper Snowflake gives some contrast. I popped up the Paper Doll and Clippings sticker and with foam adhesive. For this card, I scraped Grit Paste through the Starry stencil, removed and washed the stencil immediately--this stuff dries like cement. I sprinkled with Flurries powder and allowed the paste to dry. Once dry I heated with my heat tool. A few embossed mini snowflakes and a simple greeting complete the scene. Isn't this girl so sweet? She looks like she's having so much fun playing in the snow! You can just barely see the snow under the runners of her vintage sled, but you can't miss that stunning Flurry cut from Metallic Confections card tucked behind her. I did some more stencil work on this card. This time I smeared Transparent Texture Paste through the Snowflakes stencil and sprinkled it with Distress Clear Rock Candy dry glitter. When it dried, I blended with Frayed Burlap and wiped the ink from the flakes. I die cut Flurry #1 from more metallic card and this time used some of the waste 'confetti' that looked like stars to make more flurries. For the final card, I laid down more Grit Paste at the skier's feet, this time sprinkling with Flurries powder while it was still wet. The photos don't pick up the sparkles, but they are there. More sparkle and texture on the Mini Paper Snowflakes blended with Tumbled Glass ink comes from more of the powder. My cards gather together once again, never to be seen together again in real life, as they are off to their destinations to wish friends and family a Merry Christmas.
