Today I'm sharing one of the Club cards we made during my April Card Clubs. I chose the 'Let's Chat' stamp set seen here. I love this set! Between the fun old-fashioned telephone, the greetings and the curvy 'cord' images it's a blast to create with. I chose to use the retiring Hot Air Balloon designer paper seen here for my color palette of Fresh Freesia & Balmy Blue. We did fussy cut the head set to add at the...

Like clockwork, we're back with another Wednesday Sketch Challenge here at the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog! Below you'll find Sketch 214. Create cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor, treat containers, mixed media, etc. using this week's sketch and be sure to link your project below for a chance at the weekly My Favorite Things Gift Voucher worth up to $20. Today we are excited to welcome our very first Guest Designer at the MFT Challenge & Inspiration Blog. Say hello to Laura Williams! Laura's creative journey began when her mother became a Close To My Heart consultant when she was in middle school. Their days spent crafting together awakened her artistic side. In 2007 she got serious about card making and began to submit her work to magazines for publication. She went on to become a member of the last group of Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine's Go-to Gals where she learned a lot and met a bunch of amazing and talented friends. Laura got her hands on some awesome product from My Favorite Things and got the chance to create for Sketch 214. Take a look at her project! Laura used the curve of the half circle in the sketch as her inspiration to use the new Headphones Die-namics and Keep on Rockin' stamp set (released last night!). Don't you just love how she stamped the power and pause buttons for a background and then softened them with a vellum overlay? Totally cool! Our Challenge Team has also been busy crafting their little hearts out. Here's a look at their handiwork this week. Look what Alice did! By turning the sketch 90 degrees, the half circle is at the bottom. If you follow Alice, you know she does a lot of cool things with doilies, and this is no exception. The doily becomes the resting spot for the feet of the little darling and the sentiment. Notice the shadow Alice created to ground the sweet girl from the You Have My Heart stamp set. Erin's approach to the sketch is straightforward, but her bold color sense makes this card sing. Such a sweet breath of fresh air in the middle of winter with the pretty new Spring Tulips stamp set and Die-namics which released just last night. Jill's tasty treat shines with her delicious use of the brand new (released last night!) Donuts and Sprinkles stamp set and the Donuts Die-namics. I'm über impressed with her inlaid sprinkles. That girl has PATIENCE. Miriam has created a MASTERPIECE using dies, ink, and paste. First she die cut a circle to create the base of the globe, and then she die cut the globe several times to create enough thickness for a homemade stencil. Using green ink mixed with paste and her stencil, she created a totally touchable planet Earth, a perfect rendition of the sketch. I love the warm colors and images that Vera chose for her card this week! It makes me long for adventure and sunshine on my face. I also love how she took the dots in the sketch and substituted little flags instead. It really adds to her balanced (and forever cute!) design. OK, check it. Veronica turned the card base of the design at 90 degrees, but left everything else in the sketch intact. Pretty sweet idea, huh? It gets even sweeter with the addition of the brand new (released last night!) Candy Jar Companions stamp set and Candy Jars Die-namics. It's fresh and candy-licious with no worry about cavities! You have until Tuesday, February 10, at noon EST to add your link and be eligible for the prize of up to $20 in MFT Cash to be spent in the MFT boutique. Winners are chosen at random, so everyone has a chance! The weekly prize is a $15 Gift Voucher to My Favorite Things, but if you use MFT stamps and/or dies in your project, you’ll receive an extra $5. We'll also occasionally feature cool interpretations of the sketch on the blog and give shout outs to fun, unique, and noteworthy projects. Who knows? You might be SPOTTED! Share your cards on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook using the hashtag #mftstamps. Congratulations, Geri! You are the randomly selected winner of last week’s sketch challenge. Creative Friday Greetings to you! Wondering what to do with old wood mounts from rubber stamps that you've converted into unmounted rubber stamps? This is a fun little project, creating an accordion using old wooden stamp blocks. To remove the rubber stamp from the wooden block, just place it in the microwave for 10, 20 or 30 seconds, depending upon your microwave. This softens the adhesive and the rubber stamp will just peel right off the block. Then the wooden blocks are ready for sanding, painting and decorating. I'll let the pictures do the talking! I used the Aspen Unmounted Rubber Stamps to decorate the panels before attaching. A black cardstock hinge is used to connect the painted wooden blocks. Of course the other side can look completely different! As always, thank you for stopping by Club Scrap Creates! Wishing you a creative weekend! Kay at Club Scrap **********THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED********** It's time for another giveaway! Today's "blast from the past" is the June 2005 Varsity Club Scrap kit. Last week I had my monthly class and I designed this project which I called a "choose your own adventure" card. My stampers got to choose all the elements of the card to make it whatever they wanted. I wanted to show off the Full of Life DSP but I couldn't decide which patterns to use because each sheet is just as gorgeous as the one before. So I took that hard choice and just gave it to my customers! They got pick which pattern they wanted to use, which sentiment and which image. All I did was cut the neutral cardstock pieces and they did the rest! And if you haven't gotten the Full of Life DSP yet it will be on sale starting August 6th so make sure to add a pack to your August order! The bright colors and beautiful watercolor style of the Full of Life DSP really pair well with the images from the Attention Shoppers stamp set. Because the images are smaller they are quick to color using some of the colors in the DSP using Stampin' Blends. Once my stampers chose which Full of Life DSP design they wanted to use they cut the 6x6 piece in half so they would have a 3" x 6" panel. Then they cut that down to 3" x 4.5" and then cut this panel into 3 1" strips to mount onto the Basic Black panel. The sentiment choices come from the Online Exclusive set Sweetly Scripted which are a lovely mix of script fonts and are nice and long so they can go across a whole card front in both orientations. For this design I cut strips of paper long than was needed for the portrait orientation and my stampers just trimmed off the ends as needed. Once the image from the Attention Shoppers stamp set was chosen to go with the sentiment it was also stamped in Memento Black and colored in. I had almost my whole Stampin' Blends collection out to use during class as the Full of Life DSP has so many colors in it. So like I was saying my stampers had a lot of decisions to make on this card! Some iridescent ribbon and sparkle gems are added for a tiny bit of sparkle and shine. If you make card sets for gifts or to sell this would be a fantastic design and group of products to use to make them. No two card sets would be exactly alike with all the mix and match possibilities! All of the supplies used to make this card can be purchased in my ONLINE STORE. Thanks for looking! Did you stamp today? Stamps: Attention Shoppers, Sweetly Scripted (Online Exclusive) Ink: Memento Black Blends: various colors Paper: Basic White thick, Basic White, Basic Black, Full of Life DSP Accessories: Attention Shoppers dies, dimensionals, Iridescent 1/2" striped trim, adhesive backed sparkle gems
