This Night was all about Visiting Teaching!!! Here was the invitation that was passed out on Sunday: (This invitation idea is from The Idea Door) The night of the meeting, sisters were greeted with a gym full of chicken themed decorations. Chicken wire with twinkling lights, bags of chicken feed, chicken feeders, and red, black and white colors. (Sorry for no pictures, the memory card was full on the camera. Dang that!!!!) After the opening prayer, sisters lined up to get some Chicken Noodle Soup and Rolls. Chocolate covered strawberries were on the centerpieces. The evening started with a special musical number and then a speaker on Visiting Teaching. The RS president closed the evening with her remarks. Sisters were given a can a Chicken Noodle Soup to take home. There was a make and take table for sisters to make some fun VT handouts. For the paper handouts, click HERE and HERE Also, sisters made clothes pins (wahi tape). And they got to grab one of these to take home too! A chicken Cake POP!!!! Use white chocolate for dipping and yellow cake mix for the cake pop. Top was made from red hearts and beak is made from a Wilton brand cake decorating product (found at Joanne's). All committee members left home with a chicken to put push pins in!!!!! awww cute.

Oh February! Our ward used to have a recipe club a few years ago that fizzled out, so we decided for one night we'd have a Throw Back to Recipe Club! We had a sign up and ladies could bring a healthy recipe (but we added it could be heart happy or just plain taste-bud happy so ladies could bring a favorite anything to share). In my ward we always have refreshments first:-) The plan for the activity is as follows: 6:30 Bless Refreshments/Socializing 7pm Start Program. It works out perfectly, since not everyone can make it at 6:30, so the program is at 7pm. When we used to have refreshments at the end, people would have to leave and miss them, so it just made sense to start them off at the beginning. at 7pm we have an opening song to start off the program portion of the night. Pic of the set up the day before the activity. Luckily I saved all these Hearts I cut out of a scrapbook paper pack from last years Feb activity so I put them up again (but we were in the RS room last year). I like doing U shape for the tables so everyone has the feeling of sitting together, rather than the round tables that are separate. Part I: Speaker for 15 minutes We started the program at 7 with an opening song and then Haley gave a great talk (tied into the word of wisdom) about her journey losing over 60lbs in the last year by her dedication to eating healthy. The sisters and I all enjoyed hearing her personal message and true story. She did such a great job tying everything together! Part II: Sharing Time We went around the table and each sister told everyone about the dish she brought or talked about a favorite dish. (so everyone got to share if they wanted to-- fellowshipping by having everyone talking :-)) There were so many delicious dishes, and someone brought some bean brownies lol! Part III: The GAME! We played the Minute to win it game of OREO Forehead or whatever its called. We had 2-3 sisters compete at a time to get an oreo from their forehead to their mouth in one minute without using their hands. We brought 2 pkgs of oreos in case some oreos fell on the ground ladies could keep trying with a clean oreo:-) Phyllis won in about 5 seconds! She was amazing and the only one to do it. There was a lot of laughing and hooting and hollering watching us all attempt the feat! Closing Prayer and Clean up. :-)

Last Thursday i helped put on the annual service auction at church. It is one of our most anticipated and well attended activities, and rightly so, its so fun! Here is how it works, everyone attending should bring a “service” – anything from a chocolate cake, cute hair bows, freezer meals, or any other ready-made thing …
This is a fun activity to get to know your sisters in your ward better, eat a yummy treat, and share a short spiritual message with the theme “The fruit of the Spirit”.

Enrichment Night You're One In A Melon
We had our Stake Relief Society Conference this past weekend. The theme was: Look Ahead and Believe, taken from Elder Dube's talk from October 2013 General Conference. We had an opening with some brief remarks, then had four workshops that the women rotated through. They were: Look Ahead and Believe that the Temple is a Place of Worship. We were so blessed to have this one presented by the Kansas City Temple matron. Look Ahead and Believe that you can be happy in tumultuous times. Look Ahead and Believe that you are of worth. Look Ahead and Believe that our homes can be a refuge from the world. The workshops were followed by a simple luncheon. One of the ladies who helped decorate owns a shop, Searcy Creek Designs, and she provided the beautiful temple pictures that you'll see. Everyone commented that having them there made it feel like we were sitting in our homes looking out at the temple. It was a fabulous day. Here are some pictures of what we did. Here is a closeup of the post-it note holder that we made for each sister. Bought the coasters on Amazon and covered with scrapbook paper. Put a magnet on the back and tied on the pretty ribbons. It really did make it look like you were looking out your living room window! Loved it! The sister who taught the class on our homes being a refuge told us that she'd never had a copy of The Family - a Proclamation to the World hanging in their home because the print she had was too small to really be able to read it well. She recently got the pdf from the LDS Church's website and had it printed off in a large format from Costco. She had it sitting on the floor of their home and didn't know where to hang it. She knew there was a nail in the bathroom, so she hung it in there so it wouldn't get stepped on. She related how many times she has read it and how much she has learned. Even their teenage daughter asked that it be kept hanging in the bathroom because she had learned so much by reading it so many times!
