Hello and welcome! I have a fun holiday card featuring the new "St. Nick" from the Spellbinders "Home for the Holidays" collection which was just released. Supplies: https://ldli.co/e/3on577x I used some plaid from my stash for the background then an inked (lightly with Iced Spruce Distress Ink) panel. I cut all the pieces from white and used alcohol markers and a white paint pen to add some fun details. The tiny white snowflakes are sequins from my stash. This is card that I created using the Filled with Cheer snowman set. The Designer Series Paper is carried over from last year and it's from the Traditions of St. Nick. The dies carried over too but not the stamp set. The dies cut out some of the Santa's on the DSP, however. I colored in the tree, sled, hat and scarf with Watercolor Pencils and then used a Blender Pens cleaning it off between each color I blended. Then I took an old Blender Pen and used White Craft ink refill on a Clear Block to paint in the melting snowman. I cut it out with the circle from the Spotlight on Nature Dies. Here are my instructions: Stamp Set: Filled With Cheer Cardstock: Crumb Cake, 12” x 12” Traditions of St. Nick DSP Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento, Watercolor Pencils, White Craft ink Refill, Blender Pens Other: Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine, Paper Trimmer, Spotlight on Nature Dies, and Iridescent Foil Gems 1. The base of the card is Crumb Cake cardstock cut at 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and scored at 4-1/4” in the middle. 2. The second layer is St. Nick DSP cut at 4” x 5-1/4” and adhered to the front of the card base. 3. Die-cut the large circle from Crumb Cake cardstock with the Spotlight on Nature Dies. 4. Ink up the stamp with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and stamp on the center of the Crumb Cake circle. 5. Color it in with the Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen. 6. Use White Craft ink on a clear block and use an old Blender pen to color in the melting snowman. Let Dry. 7. Adhere the circle to the front of the card. 8. Add three Iridescent Foil Gems. I'm a bit addicted to this card layout! I'm calling it the Triple Stack & Cut card. You start out with three different patterns of designer paper measuring 3 3/4" X 5". Stack them together and make the upper right cut - a triangle. You could measure it but I just made sure my stack was even and sliced it off. Hello fellow stampers! Welcome to week 11 of the Heart of Christmas Stampin’ Up! blog hop for 2023! Each week until 27 November the Art With Heart team will showcase Christmas cards and projects to inspire you to create your own. Stampin’ Up! have released a few more products under the Online Exclusives section where some items coordinate nicely with those in the September - December Mini catalogue. One of these products is the Traditions of St. Nick DSP. One of the sheets contain images of the traditional Saint Nicholas and these can be die cut with matching dies from the Saint Nicholas stamp and die bundle. Super easy! The Christmas trees are from the same sheet and have been fussy cut. The card is normal size and opens in the middle where each flap has a Mossy Meadow card stock base and a DSP layer. The patterned paper sides contain a few sheets with the rich brocade pattern that complements the traditional images of St. Nick. The centre panel with the Noel greeting was lying around from a previous project using the Joy of Noel stamp set. I have stamped with Real Red ink and gold-embossed the ‘Joyous’ sentiment. This panel locks behind St. Nick (raised on dimensionals) to close the card. When you open the card the centre panel displays the same brocade panel with the Basic White panel for written messages. The panels on either side have a DSP panel mounted on Mossy Meadow card stock. The inside sentiment is from Saint Nicholas stamp set and inked with Real Red. All you could want and more to supplement your teaching of Saint Nicholas of Myra! Increase your students interest and engagement in learning about Saint Nicholas of Myra with these activities! In my experience teaching Catholic religion classes our textbook may provide information with a reading passage on the saints our students are required to learn about, but there is usually nothing further to digest that information. I've created this pack with multiple opportunities to supplement their learning about this well-known Catholic saint in ways your students and you will enjoy! Included in this are: Saint Nicholas Presentation- presentation to give some fast facts to summarize the saint Two graphic organizers- these are great to project and fill out whole class on a dry-erase board together, in small groups, or individually. They could be used before, during, or after reading and learning! Two sets of writing papers with handwriting lines in both black and white and color options- There are so many options for these. Students could write their facts they've learned about Nicholas, they could follow a writing prompt about Nicholas, or even write about how they can be like Saint Nicholas. Letter to Saint Nicholas- students can write a letter to Saint Nicholas Large saint fact card- students illustrate and fill in biography facts. You could do these whole group together or break into small groups to research! Be Like Saint Nicholas page- challenge your students to think of ways they can show charity/love like Nicholas. Students list their ideas and illustrate themselves performing their work of charity. What I’d Leave in a Shoe- students decide what they would leave in a shoe similar to the legend of St. Nick leaving coins in shoes for the poor family ABC Order, 2 levels- students practice ordering words associated with Saint Nicholas Find a Friend Who…-students work to find other students to complete a challenge for each box on the page Saint Nicholas poster page, color & B/W- hang this up in color or you could have students color the black and white version. If you print these you could also scale down the page or print multiple to a page to create mini bookmarks or cards. Bookmark with option to print one or two-sided- younger students may color the front of the bookmark, while older students can fill out the back side of the bookmark too. Print these on card stock for longevity or even laminate for a special touch. Word search- This would be a great way to begin your study of Saint Nicholas to preview some of the vocabulary that you will use in your learning. Short Saint Nicholas quiz with answer key- With 6 true/false and 2 fill in the blank questions this short quiz is a great way to assess your students learning! Krampus, also known as the Christmas devil, accompanies St. Nicholas on his rounds. Unlike St. Nick, he's not interested in good children. He's there to frighten, punish, and possibly even abduct the worst behaved children. This imposing figure is an Alpine tradition still practiced in the first weeks of December with costumed performers and raucous celebrations. Wood cards have a unique beauty and feel that makes them into more than just an average greeting card. Write on the back with a ballpoint pen, and mail them with a single first class stamp. Each of these cards is made from wood veneer sustainably harvested and processed in the USA -- creating these cards actually uses less wood and energy than papermaking! Please note, because wood is a natural material it has its own unique character, the photos above are a representation of the wood types. Each card will exhibit different grain patterns as well as color variations. My current batch is made with maple wood and may have some small knots or wavy grain.
