Celebrity of the Week Bulletin outside my room
I have mentioned before how much a feel like I am playing catch up this year and I still feel that way but this afternoon I made a bit of progress. One of the projects I have been wanting to get done is my hall bulletin board. Open House is coming up and it's time to show off what we have been doing. So, this afternoon that's what I worked on! I was inspired by this pin: http://www.izzyshare.com/ideabulletinboard But I wanted my board to feature our school colors, so I added a bit of blue fabric and some cute frames from Lakeshore Learning! Soon I will have pictures of my Maestro of the Month and Spotlight Performers in those frames. Mrs. P, our PE teacher was helping me hang everything and she taught me a cool trick. The staples were pretty obvious on the letters, so we took Sharpies and colored over them and now they are barely visible.

Star student of the week is a great way to build classroom community while also boosting student morale at the same time.
Since the first week in May is Teacher Appreciation week, I decided to do an appreciation board for all the teachers/staff in the school. About a week and half before, we sent home notes with the kids to write a nice note about their teacher or other staff member in the school. We got so many notes back from the kids and it was so fun to read through them all. I used my Cricut & Sure Cuts A Lot program to make all these cute flowers. Then I typed & printed all the nice sentiments that the kids wrote & cut them out with my circle punches & placed them in the center of the flowers. This is the completed board--our garden of nice comments :) I kept the grass up from last month's board.

Today, most leaders understand that recognizing employees really pays off in terms of engagement, productivity, retention, and creating a place where people generally feel good about going to work. Celebrating Employee Appreciation Day (First Friday in March) is a great place to start, but when leaders make appreciation a habit, they can help build an environment that makes every day feel like a special day. Here are 45 creative, budget-conscious ways to make someone’s day. Rock Their World Say thanks to the rock stars in your office by transforming an ordinary rock into a fun and unique recognition memento, as seen in the image above. Download the PDF. Double the Recognition When you recognize someone, give them two treats and two thank you notes. Ask them to keep one set and use the other to recognize another employee. Say It with Food Decorate a jar of salsa for an employee who is “on fire” with whatever their tasks or goals are. Or give a jar of jelly and a thank you message to someone who always helps out in a “jam.” Thanks for the Memories Celebrate achievements by creating a team scrapbook to keep in a common area. If you’re not crafty, ask employees to pitch in. Every Day Counts Show employees you’re paying attention by recognizing their days of service. So instead of celebrating a five-year milestone, say thanks for 1,825 days of service. Getting to Know You Implement a “Get to Know You” program by spotlighting a different employee each week. Send out a group email, or reserve a space on a bulletin board to post photos of the person and fun facts about them. Coffee, Anyone? Perk up your team in the afternoon with a surprise coffee break! Bring in lattes for everyone, make some cards that […]
