Your preschoolers will love these NO PREP sports themed tracing worksheets for pre-writers and handwriting warm ups. Differentiated tracing worksheets designed specifically to train children how to write and draw. Each theme includes 6 different versions - choose the one that best suits each of your student's fine motor ability. At the preschool level, a classroom of children will have a wide range of abilities. With this tracing worksheet pack, you can give the same assignment to every student in your class regardless of their ability level. These pre-handwriting worksheets will help your preschooler develop the essential handwriting skills needed to succeed with writing letters, numbers, shapes, and drawing. This tracing resource also makes a great warm up activity before diving in to your regular handwriting lesson. Tracing can help children develop fine motor skills, which can aid them with other tasks, such as learning to write. It also helps students with developmental disabilities to develop math and language skills. Other benefits of tracing include improvement in hand/eye coordination, dexterity and spatial awareness. Before becoming a teacher, I was a graphic designer for Disney (specializing in typography and layout). Many other tracing worksheets out there do not meet the appropriate size, scale, spacing, and proportions needed for success with proper fine motor skill development. For our youngest learners, the actual design of the worksheet is as important as the content. I designed these tracing worksheets to include anchor points which encourages the student to stay on the line and complete the detailed strokes needed for their next step - handwriting. Please click the product preview to view a sample of the 6 differentiated versions included in this resource. The themes in this pack include: baseball, soccer, basketball, football, trophy, cheerleader, and whistle/jersey. Please also check out some of my other HANDWRITING products: ✏️ ALPHABET HAT CRAFT - a NO mess easy and fun craft to celebrate the letter of the week. Here is a very simple and fun activity for your little one to practice some fine motor skills! You can do something similar with any shape at all, but since we're beginning Baseball season, I decided to make a baseball! Supplies: White cardstock Yarn (any color will do). :) Hole Punch Marker Scissors Tape Prep Work: 1. Trace a small circle (about the size of a cup) onto a piece of white cardstock. You don't want it to be too big, because you need to be able to get your hole punch to reach into it to punch the holes..... :) 2. Draw 2 curvy lines on each side of the circle with a marker. 3. Using a hand-held hole punch, punch holes on both sides of each of the lines: 4. Cut a long piece of yarn and put a small piece of tape around one end. This will help your child lace the yarn through the holes. Then tape the other end onto the back of the baseball so it stays in place. Activity Time!! Show your child how to lace the yarn through the holes so that it looks like the stitches on a baseball. Then let them try it. Then you can unlace it and do it again! LB(4) did really well with this! After he was done, he carried it around all day by the end of the string and pretended it was his "kite". haha. Have Fun! A fun activity for Spring Baseball season, or ANY time of the year! Here is a great way to practice letters, spelling, and reading with your little ones. Supplies: White cardstock - 1 piece Brown construction paper - 1 piece Green construction paper - 1 piece Markers, red & black Scissors Prep Work: 1. Trace 6 circles onto the white cardstock. You can use a cup to trace. Then cut them out. 2. With a red marker, draw 2 curvy lines on the side of the circles, and small straight lines going through the line, like the stitches in a baseball: 3. With a black marker, write the letters A, B, C, H, M, T on each of the balls: 4. Draw a bat shape onto the brown construction paper. Cut it out and trace 3 more on the paper, so you have 4 bats. 5. On the bats, write the words: BAT, CAT, HAT, MAT: 6. Trace a bat shape, and 3 circles onto the green construction paper: 7. **Optional: If you want this activity to stand the test of time, go ahead and laminate it with these self adhesive laminating sheets! Then you can enjoy it without worrying about pieces getting ripped and wrinkled. :) All done, ready to play! Play Ball!! Have your child place one of the bats onto the green paper. Read the word with them and then let them find and place the baseballs with those letters into the circles. Have them sound the word out again and read it to you. I decided to keep it very simple and just use a few -AT words so LB(4) could hear how they all sound and practice basic reading skills. You could easily add more bats and baseballs to this activity as your child progresses with their reading! HAVE FUN! So it was another week of learning around here with the crazies -- the letter was "B" with a theme centered around balls. The crazies had fun with it! We did our writing practice & D has his "B" down so I also introduced money, just the coins. We played with balls, made ball patterns, did some math with balls, discussed ball textures, & even made ball cookies (I totally failed to bring out the camera with that one, uh!). They are loving it & I'm enjoying making the most of D's last year at home. Here are some of our ideas below. Our letter for the week Paper plate soccer balls Football lacing & decorating We painted with rubber bouncy balls Our coin sheets... we found a cute money rhyme to use too! I will try to find the link. Money Rhyme for Coins
