Personal Space Social Narrative *This is a DIGITAL DOWNLOAD* Social narratives help students understand social norms and expectations. They must be simple, direct, and have meaning to the student. This quality social narrative helps students understand rules of personal space in a fun, meaningful way that makes sense to them. While this social narrative is particularly useful to students with autism and related disabilities, it is also helpful for ALL students. Students will learn about: • “The area right around my body” (personal space “bubble”) • “An arm’s length” • “Lining up” • “When do I keep personal space?” • “What kinds of things invade the personal space of others?” • “I can honor personal space!” Thank you for your interest in supporting students through the use of creative tools in school. It is important to remember that students need to review these types of social narratives on a regular basis in a proactive, teaching manner over time - not only to be used after an incident has occurred (although they should be used for this as well). Thank you for supporting your students with quality, evidence-based strategies! Total number of pages: 9 Brad at Student Strategies Copyright Notice: All files are for personal use only. Item description Conflict Resolution Activity | Game: Strategies and Situations is a resource that can help your students and kids to practice different strategies to solve situations. Help your students with Conflict Resolution strategies. This game includes: 18 Conflict Resolution Strategies Cards (with meaning) 18 Conflict Resolution Cards with Name and Points (for the game) 50 Cards with Conflict Resolution Situations The objective of this game is to get the highest number of points by answering the situation cards with one of the 18 different conflict resolution strategies explained in this game. A way to play this game is to divide the group into two teams. Place the “Conflict Resolution Strategies Cards” with points, where everyone can see them (you can paste them on the board for example). Before starting to play, review the terms listed by presenting questions whose answers represent some of the terms. For example: a. Someone calls you a name. “Please do not call me like that, I do not like it. (talking friendly – 4 points). b. Someone is making fun of your favorite teacher. ”Did you see that new movie that just came out?” (changing the subject – 3 points). Each team will have 1 minute to answer a situation card. The first team to get to 50 points wins! This game can also be played in small groups, and the rules can also be modified to suit your own needs. They can also be used as a way to work with students one-on-one and help them work on their conflict resolution strategies. They can also be used to take out and explain to a student all the different ways they can solve a problem and work with him/her to seek different solutions to a particular problem. You can cut out and laminate the cards for better durability! You can also find the interactive version (with posters of the 18 strategies) of this game here: ——
