I found this recipe on Christy Jordan's Southern Plate and could not wait to try it. Chocolate covered creamed filled donuts are my favorite from Krispy Kreme. They were easy so these might appear in my fridge from time to time. There is actually enough filling and chocolate for two tubes of biscuits. You will want to make sure you do not get the flaky biscuits. Put about a 1/2 inch of oil in a pan. Turn to medium high heat and let get good and hot before you put the biscuits in. Put several in at one time, turn after about a minute. You don't want the oil so hot that they burn without cooking. Look how nice and golden brown they are. Let them drain on paper towels. After you have cooked the biscuits make your filling. In a bowl add 1 1/2 cups milk. I used 2% milk. Add the sugar free French vanilla pudding mix. You could use regular vanilla too. I started thinking when I was eating one of the donuts that you could use chocolate pudding mix and sometimes you can find strawberry pudding too. The strawberry would be really good to try sometime. Add 8oz cool whip it can be sugar free as well. So see there are not as rich and fattening as you might think. Mix that together really well. I think put it in the fridge for a few minutes. All nice and mixed together. Now you will need a pastry bag and a pastry tip. You can find them at Walmart or Hobby Lobby. I used a glass to open up the pastry bag. Ordinarily I would use a zip lock bag and cut the corner but you need something this time to push into the donut to add the filling. Christy says you can use a large syringe and I have plenty of those around here but wasn't sure about getting the filling in the narrow tubing. Fill the bag up and push the filling on down to the top. Twist the top. Take the donut and put the tip in and press the filling into the donut. You want to put enough in without breaking the middle of the donut. All the donuts are now filled. Yes one got a little brown but once the chocolate gets on top you will never know. Take a can of chocolate cake icing and put in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds then stir and put back in again if needed. When the icing is thin and pourable you are ready to dunk the donuts. Swirl the donut and life and let the excess drip off. The finished product. I put the excess icing back in the container and stored it in the fridge until next time. I will be making these again. Husband didn't know that the donut part was a biscuit. Doesn't this look just like the ones that come from that famous donut place?
