The leaves are thin and fragile and can create a spectacular bush of green when grown in large clusters. This plant can be great for beginners because it is hardy and does not require CO2 injection. It does prefer a nutrient-rich environment and clean water. Mayaca requires moderate light or the lower parts of the stems can start to turn yellow and die off. It is propagated through cuttings that easily take root in the substrate. Mayaca can be grown submersed or emersed. Propagation is simple and straight forward. It can be found growing in the swaps of Southern US and South America. The leaves are thin and fragile and can create a spectacular bush of green when grown in large clusters. The stem is extremely soft and flexible which, in addition to the very narrow, bright green leaves, gives the plant a light and graceful expression. It branches willingly and the rapid growth makes regular pruning necessary. Like any other stem plant, simply cut and replace the trimmings. Due to the moderate height of the fully grown stems the Stream Bogmoss makes for a great midground plant, they will not grow higher than background plants. They are also great indicators of nutrient levels in the water column showing signs of losing their colour if the nutrients start to become exhausted from the supply.
