A grapheme wall (similar to a sound wall) is a way to organize phonemes (speech sounds) and the graphemes (letters/groups of letters) that represent them. Keyword images are used to help students associate spelling patterns with the sounds they represent. Similar to a word wall, a grapheme wall is a tool for students to reference when spelling and reading words, with posters grouped by phonics patterns. The Science of Reading (SoR) shows us that students need explicit phonics instruction and support to develop phoneme-grapheme correspondence. This grapheme wall is perfect for students in Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd grade and beyond and makes an amazing addition to intervention and ELD/EL/ESL classrooms. The dimensions of posters in this resource when printed at 100% scale are about 7" x 7.7". However, posters can easily be printed at any size by altering your printer settings. Directions for printing different sizes of posters are included in the "READ FIRST and TOU" file.
