Nacida en Córdoba (Argentina) de ascendencia franco-rusa, Sol Gabetta estudió en la Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía de Madrid y ha tocado como solista con las principales orquestas del mundo, pero hay que destacar su estrecha relación con la Orquesta de Cámara de Basilea. Es profesora de violonchelo en esta ciudad y promueve su propio festival de música de cámara: el Solsberg Festival en esta localidad suiza.
