Of all the many things said about Donald Trump, what was said by Roger Ailes, head of the Fox News Channel, said it all in just two words: "Grow up!" It is amazing how many people have been oblivious to this middle-aged man's spoiled brat behavior, his childish boastfulness about things he says he is going to do, and his petulant response to every criticism with ad hominem replies. He has boasted that his followers would stick by him even if he committed murder. But is that something to boast about? Is it not an insult to his followers, if it is true? Moreover, his cockiness is misplaced, because he still does not have a majority among Republican voters, while you need a majority of all the voters to win any state in the general election.
We’re in the final stretch: Just one week left on the countdown to the premiere of Two Weeks (and Master’s Sun, and Good Doctor)! Or, as I think of it, the end of this constant parade of promo teases. I’ll be relieved when the shows actually start (this one kicks off next Wednesday, August 7). … Continue reading "One week left till Two Weeks"

Amazon.com Add to Goodreads My Thoughts: A new cozy mystery series by author Carr? Yep, I am going to definitely read that. And so I did and what a fun read it was. If you like mysteries you will like this one. A murder has happened and it may or may not be linked to other crimes. But like with other author Carr books, the answers are not so easily seen or gotten. Twists and turns and more abound in this little mystery of a woman who is coming back to her hometown for a second chance at love and business. Nikki Bryant and her family have seen loss up close and personal, and unfortunately that loss has had no closure. Neither has she ever found anyone who might sweep her off her feet like her first love, Ryan did. Now through marriage- her mom's and his dad's- their second chance seems forbidden. But this story is not all about romance, no there is a murder mystery that needs to be solved before anyone can put the past behind them. I am excited for this new series. I am looking forward to seeing Nikki and her work as an investigative journalist following the clues and solving the crimes. And with a trace of humor and romance, I also am looking forward to the rekindling of hers and Ryan's. And the cover is super cute too, and as always the critters get a prominant secondary role. I was provided a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positvie review and all views and opinions are my own. My favorite review of this book on goodreads says it is “one of the most deliciously bonkers and intensely fucked up books I have ever read- and I loved it.”
As Bones season 11 ended, Brennan was kidnapped and woke up to see none other than Zack in front of her. He told her they had a lot to talk about, so what's coming next?FOX's official description of the final season: "Throughout the final chapter, fans will see the return of fan-favorite guest stars and squinterns, as well as an old flame from one of the team’s past. Fans also will experience a wedding, follow an epic serial killer storyline, go undercover in a lumberjack competition and see Booth and Brennan’s marriage get put to the test. As always, new guest stars will be introduced, as well as a final round of gory murders, from which brand-new investigations will arise."Here are the photos from the season 12 premiere, "The Final Chapter: The Hope in the Horror," airing Tuesday, January 3, at 9/8c.
Possibly the most prolific female serial killer in history, a primary inspiration for Dracula, one of the most reviled women in history, and, I argue, innocent.
As a child, Jehoash was saved from Athalia by Jehoiada. As king, he helped fix God’s temple in Jerusalem. So how did he become a murderer?
VERO BEACH, FL – Kevin Adorno was on the final stages of his bike ride down the East Coast when he stopped in a McDonald’s and was stabbed to death by a mentally ill homeless man who thought Adorno was trying to have him killed. Adorno, 28, was only two days and 100 miles away from completing his trip from Maryland to Miami. His girlfriend was to meet him 20 miles from his destination so that she could finish the trip with him. What she didn’t know was that once in Miami, Adorno had planned to propose to her. Unfortunately, Adorno crossed paths with 59-year-old Rene Herrera Cruz, a mentally-ill homeless man, when he stopped at a Vero Beach McDonald’s to grab something to eat and use his phone. Cruz was in the parking lot of the McDonald’s and was under the impression that people were looking for him and trying to kill him. To protect himself, Cruz pulled out a 12-inch filet knife. He then noticed Adorno in the restaurant looking at him before Adorno stepped outside to use his cellphone. Cruz thought Adorno was taking pictures of him and “directing people to go after him,” so Cruz used the knife to attack Adorno, stabbing him in the arm and several times in the chest. Adorno managed to get back inside the McDonald’s where he collapsed near the bathrooms. Of course Adorno wasn’t on the phone instructing people to kill Cruz. He’d actually been on the phone with his girlfriend, who later told police that her conversation with Adorno was interrupted by the sound of his cell phone dropping; she never heard Adorno argue with anyone. Despite witnesses at the scene applying pressure to Adorno’s wounds, he would be pronounced dead shortly after being rushed to Indian River Medical Center. Police would find an engagement ring in his pocket. After stabbing Adorno, Cruz discarded two knives before running to a Burger King across the street where he was apprehended by police. Cruz admitted to attacking Adorno, explaining he thought Adorno was trying to have him killed. Police were at the same Burger King the night before after Cruz called from there to report people were after him. Cruz has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond. Nick is determined to make his new PI firm work, even if he has to do a lot of snooping for wives worried their husbands are cheating. He knows eventually he’ll hit it big and get a good case. What he doesn’t know is that he’ll end up neck deep in that case and so tied up in knots about who’s guilty and who’s innocent that he won’t even be able to find his way up. Nick Sinclair, PI by J.W. Grodt is most definitely the case of a lifetime and the tale to beat all because Nick’s latest cheating scandal may not end with the cheating spouse. For Nick, the world is about to get a little more intense. Being a private eye isn’t exactly what he’s always thought it would be, but it’s definitely interesting to learn. The relationship that he develops seems just like the first love that we all remember, and yet it’s stronger than that. The truth about who killed the Rothsteins is more difficult to figure out than it would appear at first glance. It’s also much more important to Nick than he ever would have thought. After all, the woman he loves just might be the killer. Nick Sinclair is more than just a man on a mission to make his business a success. He’s also a man on a mission to prove that the woman he loves is innocent of a crime that makes her look more and more guilty all the time. This was an excellent book. I very much enjoyed it and thought it was very well written.

A Socialist “Murder of Crows” poster uses the horrors of war for its political agenda. Thomas Negovan, the gallerist behind the quirky Los Angeles-based Century Guild specializes in Art Nouveau and the Symbolist movement. He’s an expert at tracking down weird and wonderful things and now he’s offering new “Patronage Prints” struck from rare images from his archives. The prints are produced in small editions and prices start under $50. The idea is to support the research and also make it so that affordable versions of what would otherwise be ungodly expensive can be appreciated without spending your life savings. (And if you want to do that, no problem, he can sell you the originals.) The originals of these posters are excruciatingly rare works on paper; in some cases, the ones Century Guild have exist in quantities fewer than five and they’re primarily in museums. They’re true “underground” modern art. When they were created, they were meant to be destroyed, not kept, but their designs and sensibilities permeated the underground art culture and informed works that blossomed decades—or a century—later. Their common thread is that they were once trash, but we recognize them today...

M.E. is a heavy-impact illness that remains little-understood by most. Its main symptoms are: debilitating fatigue, joint pain, muscle pain, migraines, headaches, dizziness, nausea, digestive complaints, sensitivity to chemicals and foods, plus many others. It’s agonising, and can disrupt every single aspect of daily life. I’ve had M.E. for 25 years, and there are times when it genuinely feels as though my body is my prison. Inside, I have hopes and interests I’d love to pursue, but my body doesn’t allow me the freedom to do so. Year by year, this painful reality threatens to overwhelm. Like a bird in a cage, who can see the sky but can’t fly, the steel bars that encase me threaten to silence my song. But I’m writing this to tell you, that even in the midst of the pain and limitations, I’m still singing. And it’s a song that nothing can overwhelm or silence. It’s a song of praise to God—the One who gave me life, and gave me new life. For years I didn’t fully realise that there were in fact two prisons I was a captive in. It wasn’t just my body that needed healing: my soul did, too—far more than my body ever could. The Bible says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). God’s glory and holiness is so pure and perfect that even the ‘smallest’ of lies breaks His law (the Ten Commandments), as does theft, lust, adultery, blasphemy, hatred, murder, jealousy, disrespecting our parents, neglecting to keep the Sabbath holy, and failing to love God above all else (see Exodus 20:3-17). Who can honestly say they’ve never broken any of these? Because of God’s holiness and justice, He must punish all lawbreakers, just as judges sentence civilians who break the law here on earth. Hell is God’s established prison, described as “everlasting punishment” (Matthew 25:46) and “the fire that never shall be quenched” (Mark 9:45). It sounds horrific, but if you allow your conscience to realise the severity of breaking God’s law, then you might realise what I realised: not only was I heading for hell, but I thoroughly deserved to go there. When I realised my own wretchedness in light of God’s holiness, I fully saw the necessity of the sacrifice God had provided to save me. He truly is “...longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to bear the punishment that should have been mine. I broke God’s law, but Jesus paid my sentence with His own life’s blood. He died on the cross, then rose again three days later, forever defeating sin and death. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). I thank God that I am counted among the ‘whosoever’. You can be, too. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9). Pray from your heart—confess your sins to God, truly acknowledge your need for forgiveness, and believe that Jesus is who He says He is, trusting in Him alone to reconcile you to God through His atoning death that paid the debt of your sin that you could never pay with good works, rituals or anything else. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). Maybe you’re battling long-term illness, or some other difficulty, and you feel that no one understands your pain and isolation. Jesus does. “He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:3-5). Whether I experience physical healing in this earthly life or not, I’ll keep singing praises to God, thankful for His healing grace, and joyful despite my physical pain, because my soul has been set free. And “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” (John 8:36). Back to top of page
