When Kim Bartelt was an art student at Parsons, and then a young set designer in New York, she would often collect the colored tissue paper that comes with clothing purchases from small boutiques, or wrapped around samples when calling in pieces for a photoshoot. The papers sat for years around her apartment in a giant Paul Smith bag — first in New York, then back home in Berlin — before eventually becoming the abstract "painting" that would become the basis for a body of work she's been creating for more than half a decade.

Dankzij de variërende textuur van het beton ciré, heb je altijd een exclusief exemplaar in huis. Het materiaal, bekend om zijn duurzaamheid, zorgt voor een stevige laag dat na verwerking zo hard wordt als steen. Het onderstel is gemaakt van Europees eikenhout en kan in twee afwerkingen geleverd worden: Natural en Burned. Bij de "burned" variant maken we gebruik van de zogenaamde 'Shou Sugi Ban' techniek. Deze techniek is al eeuwenoud en vindt zijn oorsprong in Japan. Vroeger branden de Japanners hun houten huizen om ze te beschermen tegen vocht, vuur, insecten en schimmels. Wij gebruiken deze manier vooral omdat het een prachtige uitstraling geeft aan het eikenhout. Het bovenblad wordt afgewerkt met een matte PU lak. Dankzij deze speciale matte lak-afwerking, ontwikkeld voor beton ciré, is de tafel goed beschermd tegen vocht en eenvoudig schoon te maken met een vochtige doek. Zoals je kunt zien op de foto's is het ook mogelijk om de Mush table samen te stellen met 4 losse poten als onderstel.
