It's not too early to get a start on Christmas cards! We're already more than halfway through this year (yikes!), and Christmas will be here before you know it. My inspiration for this card is the song, O Christmas Tree. I used a musical note background stamp from Skipping Stones Design on a kraft card base. Then, I built a little 'forest' of gilded trees on top of an embossed oval. The trees are from both Hero Arts Merry Christmas Trees and Stampin' Up!'s Patterned Pines. The gilding comes in the form of gold Smooch ink, some golden sequins, and a gold-embossed star. Stamps: Timeless Texture background - Skipping Stone Design; Merry Christmas Trees - Hero Arts; Patterned Pines - Stampin' Up! Accessories & Tools: gold sequins, gold embossing powder, Holiday Frame embossing folder - Stampin' Up!; Gold Smooch Ink; Copic markers
It's the first Saturday of September, which brings us a fabulous new Sketch For You To Try, a new sponsor, and a new guest designer, Alyssa from ACS Paper Creations. In addition, we're excited to add two new faces to the SFYTT team: Becky Carafa and Iwona Palamountain (Chupa)! Welcome, ladies! This month we're being sponsored by Skipping Stones Design, makers of some of the funniest stamps available! Take a minute to browse through their products -- prepare for a chuckle, a snort, even a full belly laugh. While you're there, you'll also notice some more "serious" sets, including one of my very favorites, Healing Wings, which I've used today. This set just speaks to me -- the butterflies, the encouraging sentiments, the beauty. The various papers I've used today are from the "Rosy" Lost & Found Two collection by My Mind's Eye. The doily die and matching border die are by My Favorite Things. Here's the September sketch: I love the rounded corners, but had to leave those out as my corner rounder bit the dust a while back. I must get around to replacing that! For more sketch inspiration, visit the amazing, talented SFYTT Sisters: Jen del Muro with August guest designer Alyssa Amber Hight Becky Carafa Carole Burrage Iwona Palamountain (Chupa) Jen Tapler Jodi Collins Kerry Johnson Megan Lock Susan Liles Terri Moore 1. The SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY {SFYTT} will be posted on the first Saturday of each month on www.iheart2stamp.com at 8am EST and will stay open to participants until the last day of the month, unless otherwise noted. 2. This is for fun! Interpret the sketch as you wish and embellish as desired. There are no vendor restrictions, but we would love to see you use the sponsor’s stamps! 3. Each month we will have a Designer of the Month that will be chosen from past month’s participants. 4. Come and play with us on each and every sketch! On Christmas Day 2011 a prize package worth over $200 will be given away to one very lucky and loyal SFYTT stamper that participates in EVERY sketch for the year. 5. To be eligible for the prize package, you must complete ALL of the sketches by each of the deadlines AND link your creation to the link system on that month’s sketch post (the first Saturday of the month). Everyone except for SFYTT Sisters are eligible for the prize package, including Designer of the Month and international players. 6. When posting your sketch creation on your blog, please post the sketch and link back to the sketch post on www.iheart2stamp.com. When posting to online galleries, please use the keyword “SFYTT.” Have a great weekend! Good morning friends! Today is Tuesday, which means there’s a new sketch over on the Skipping Stones Design blog :) I kept this card pretty simple as I wanted to do some old fashioned stamping on most of the card. My sister asked me if I make masculine cards and I do, but not many. So this was the perfect opportunity to showcase this fun set, Grunge, and work on my masculine card stash. I stamped the background with Sahara Sand and the sentiment in Chocolate Chip. Heavy metal eyelets, twine and a button round out the masculine elements :) See, it’s not always a girlie girl card! LOL Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day :) what’s in it? stamps: skipping stones design Grunge paper: pti kraft, cream, su espresso, My Mind’s Eye Stella and Rose dp ink: su sahara sand, choc chip accessories: su eyelets, pti twine, buttons, banner die, corner chomper

I was feeling extra creative today so I decided to enter another card challenge for Skipping Stones Design. I love challenges ... they inspire me and introduce me to designs that I may not have typically chosen for myself. This is the sketch: This is what I created: Cards are fantastic for using up scraps and especially a card like this! So if you scrapbook like I do and have lots of scraps left over, this is a great use for them! Used: Authentique Journey Bazzill Cardstock in White Adirondack Dye Ink in Espresso Hero Arts Clear Stamp The Twinery Twine

I have a card for you using this month's SFYTT sketch. I was lucky enough to win some blog candy earlier this month (thanks to Buttons and Bling) and it included this cool stamp set by Skipping Stones Designs called Heartsong. I love the vintage style and the sheet music imprinted images in the set. The timing was serendipitous because the sponsor for September's sketch just happens to be Skipping Stones Design! I stamped the music staff image repeatedly across the cardstock to create a pattern and sponged the edges to soften it up. Then I just added the layers following the sketch as shown above. I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder on the Dark Chocolate layer to continue with the music theme, as well as add a nice bit of texture. I love how it turned out! Stamps: Heartsong (Skipping Stones Design) Ink: Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink) Paper: Dark Chocolate, Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink); Marjolaine, Nordic Holiday (Basic Grey) Misc: Allegro embossing folder (Cuttlebug); Standard Circles (Spellbinders); corner rounder (Crop-A-Dile)
Happy Cinco de Mayo! In addition to margaritas and the mariachi, today also brings us the May SFYTT, which is sponsored by Skipping Stones Design, home of some of the funniest stamp sets in the industry. Here's what we're playing with this month: I was in the mood for something soft and pretty this morning when I sat down to stamp up today's sample (nothing like waiting until the last minute), so I pulled out my all-time favorite Skipping Stones Design set, the classy and timeless Healing Wings. I stamped one of the beautiful butterflies onto pink paper, then trimmed it out, curled the wings for dimension, and attached it to a patterned gray Spellbinders Labels Eighteen die-cut. All of the papers are from Cosmo Cricket's Evangeline Mini-Deck. Accents include crinkled seam binding, burlap string, stick pins, mini rose ribbon, adhesive pearls, and distressing. Missing is some stitching, and that's because my brat machine is broken -- again! Grrrr. Visit the SFYTT Sisters for more sketch inspiration: Jen del Muro with designer of the month, Annie Rose Amber Hight Becky Carafa Carole Burrage Jen Tapler Jodi Collins Kerry Johnson Megan Lock Susan Liles and our newest Sister, Tracy Shultz (Welcome Tracy! Woohooo!!!) Hope you'll join us at SFYTT this month! All the how-to is in the graphic below (click to enlarge): Have a fantastic weekend, friends!
Hello and welcome. I’m a guest over on the Skipping Stones Design Blog and I created a card for the Anything Goes Challenge. I decided to work with a fun set that is a continuation of THIS and THIS set… I stamped the bra image on to a piece of THIS patterned paper. I added THIS ink to the edges to make it pop. I created a clothesline using some string and cut little black rectangles to resemble clips. I did some watercolor...Continue reading

Hi Everyone, I am over at the Skipping Stones Design blog today with my card, using this beautiful set called Let it Be This is the set: Don't you love the chevron butterfly? I sure do! I first heat embossed it in gold and then stamped it in black and fuzzy cut it. I water colored around the edges of the butterfly. Let it dry and added black splatters. Wrapped gold embroidery thread around the black butterflies waist and mounted it with a thin strip of foam tape for extra dimension. I hope you liked this! Thanks for visiting! Happy Stamping! Hi everyone! Welcome back for another Skipping Stones Design Tuesday where every Tuesday we bring you a new sketch to try out. This weeks is another sketch by the fabulous Amy Sheffer! I used the sketch and Skipping Stones Design Halloweenies set to create Boo Bags. My boys love going and "booing" their friends during the Halloween season! Instead of two stripes I used three to mimic candy corn. To create the spider web, I twisted tulle tightly. Gotta love tulle! The spiders are super easy to make. I have a tutorial for them up on my blog...HERE. Be sure to link your card to the Skipping Stones Design Blog!

I did my coloring with Copics, and the papers are all from Basic Grey's Marjolaine 6x6 pad. For the grass, I used the grass Die-namics die by My Favorite Things, and the clouds on the inside were also cut with a Die-namics die. Lots of stitching on this one. I am soooooo over hand-stitching and will be taking my ailing machine in for repair this week! I've been meaning to since before Thanksgiving!! Would you like to win Gray Hares??? Just leave a comment here on this post for a chance to win! Deadline is Thursday at 11:59 pm EST. I'll do a random drawing and announce a winner on Friday! Good luck!! I'm sure you have already seen the gazillions of coffee cards across blog land this week and I could not resist adding one more! It is the week for the 2017 Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop and I just had to combine the coffee theme with this week's new challenge from Freshly Made Sketches.
Good Morning and Happy Tuesday! Welcome to Sketch Challenge 115 and the release of Sassy Cats 2! If you just came from JoAnn's blog, you are in the right place. If you just happened along my blog today, start at the beginning of the hop at Skipping Stones Design. The entire hop order is there and you can hop from blog to blog with ease. Well, due to my recent travel schedule, I do have a card to share showcasing Sassy Cats, but it does not follow the sketch. Sorry Kazan! Sassy Cats is one of those hilarious sets that Skipping Stones is famous for! I couldn't resist using this kitty image paired with one of the many funny sentiments included in this set. You see, I have always been told by my helpful friends and family that if you have to ask, that's your answer (LOL)!! I stamped the rear facing kitty on white cardstock with black Memento ink and colored him in with Copics. I then drew a frame with some zig-zags around the image and mounted in to a chartreuse rectangle. I stamped the sentiment on a word bubble sticker from the Paper Studio and adhered it to the card. The arrow is a piece of chipboard that I covered in cardstock and also added a hand drawn border. The patterned paper is from KI Memories. The completed card front was then adhered to a card base on kraft cardstock. Here's another look: If you would like to play along with this week's sketch challenge (and who wouldn't love to win some free stamps??), just upload your take on this week's sketch to the Skipping Stones blog. Here is the sketch to use for this week's challenge: Also, Skipping Stones Tweetheart Sale has been extended another week to accommodate the release of Sassy Cats. Here's how it works. Buy any 3 stamp sets and get Heartsong 2 for FREE. Heartsong 2 won't be available for purchase until April, so this is your opportunity to be one of the very first to get your hands on what is sure to be another best-selling set! Here's a peek: The sale is being extended for one more week only, so don't delay and order today! Be sure to hop along and leave comments on all the fabulous designers’ blogs. This month we are welcoming Cyndi Bundy and Barb Turpin to our team as Guest Designers! Kazan Clark will be providing all the fabulous sketch inspiration this month including the sketch we're using in today's hop! Thanks for stopping by!! Have a great day! Katie
Hello again, if you're looking for my Skipping Stones Stamp & Share Challenge #2 post, please click here or just scroll down. Today, Skipping Stones Design has the honor to take part in the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. I created this fall-themed coffee card using images from the Skipping Stones Design Funny Coffee Vol.#1 stamp set. I colored the coffee travel mug with Copics and fussy cut it. The patterned papers are from Echo Park and Fancy Pants. To cut out the striped patterned paper I used a Simon Says Stamp «Stitched Circle» die and matted it with another circle of Dark Brown cardstock. I also die-cut the SSS «Circle Loops» from Ivory cardstock. The banner die which I used for the sentiment is from Stampin' Up!. I cut a thin strip of Coffee Glitter Cardboard and also punched out a little heart. The pretty wooden leaves are from my stash and I tucked them behind the coffee travel mug which was adhered with doubled-up foam tape. I embellished my card with Enamel Dots from Studio Calico and My Mind's Eye. Now please head over to the Skipping Stones Design Blog to see what the DT created for this special hop. SSD is giving away a Funny Coffee set and a $15 gift card! Thank you so much for stopping by!

Happy Sunday to everyone! Warmer weather is on the way and that makes me happy! Today’s Ann’s color challenge for the Paper Players makes me happy, too: Woohoo, I love it! I used the Skipping Stones sketch 71: And here’s my card: This color combo is fresh & and bold—even though Poppy Parade is not one of my “go-to” colors!! I realized I had been neglecting my wheels, so I used Friendly Words to make my banner, and an image from Dreams duJour for my focal point. They are both stamped on Textured WW cardstock, as is my card base, and the main image is watercolored with an aquapainter and ink: I just love that canvasy look the textured cardstock gives! This is just such a happy card! I have to admit, I was feeling smug because I actually started my card on Thursday evening and had it all finished, when I realized that I had used the wrong neutral---ACK!!! Would you like to see the first version? Here IT is: I had this idea in my head for days----but I used Ivory cardstock for my main image. It’s okay---I need a congrats card for a special couple who tied the knot in a Western ceremony---so it will still get used! But I had to regroup and quickly make another card---any excuse to stamp more, right? And I used the Fall to Layout 135 for this card: I sure hope you can find some time to play with these wonderful colors Ann has chosen. Make sure you gallop on over to the Paper Players to find out all the details and share your creation with us too! First card: Stamps: Dreams duJour, Tiny Tags, Friendly Words jumbo wheel Paper: Text & WW, Poppy Parade, Baja Breeze, DP: PP & SS Patterns, Elegant Soiree, Sew Suite Ink: Stazon Black, Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Baja Breeze, So Saffron Acc: Aquapainter, Beautiful Wings Embosslit, Brads, Sewing Machine, Tiny Tag punch, dimensionals Second card: Stamps: Out West, Occasional Quotes, Sanded, Woodgrain, Plane & Simple Paper: Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Naturals Ivory, PP Patterns DP Ink: So Saffron, Real Red, Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze Acc: Pinking Hearts Border & Star punches, Nestie, Paper Piercer, Crumb Cake marker, Vintage Trinkets, dimensionals
