The mythological tale of Cupid and Psyche is one of the few Greek and Roman myths that has not fully become assimilated into modern consciousness. Though adapted somewhat into the better known 'Beauty and the Beast'—first written by French author Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont as 'La Belle et la Bête'—the correlation to the earlier ancient text is relatively unrecognized.

When the Romans entered Egypt they saw a land of magnificent temples, impressive and monumental statues, and symbolism they did not understand. The Greeks felt the same when they explored the country near the Nile. The beauty and mysterious smile of Isis stole the hearts of many non-Egyptian visitors, who decided to bring her idolization abroad and make her an important figure in many parts of Europe and Asia.
Central to Ancient Astronaut Theory and author Zecharia Sitchin’s narrative, is a group of mythic beings known as the Anunnaki, whom he claimed crossed their own DNA with that of Homo erectus in order to create mankind—for the purpose of using humans as slaves to mine gold and other minerals. Today these Anunnaki are often portrayed as the equivalent of the Old Testament creator God.
