"You forgot the mail?!?!" The king yelled at the snail. But the snail stayed as calm as could be. He was not afraid of the king, you see. He knew where the gift was; he knew what to do. The monsters learned that patience pays off too. We are all familiar with the phenomenon of children wanting everything "here and now".

Teaching Kids the Importance of Sleep * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * At night when most kids were dozing so deep, Michael could never quite manage to sleep. His mother would read him one book, or two, His father would sing 'till his face turned blue, All day Michael ran and played and kicked ball, But then he'd just shrug: "I'm not tired at all." | Author: Sigal Adler | Publisher: Sigal Adler | Publication Date: Jun 12, 2017 | Number of Pages: 58 pages | Language: English | Binding: Hardcover | ISBN-10: 1947417010 | ISBN-13: 9781947417014

You're Not My Monster Author: Sigal Adler Genre: Picture Book Publication Date: 7 December 2017 Book Description: Help Kids Overcome their Fears When little Dan started to sleep on his own His parents were proud of how much he’d grown They gave him a monster, a sweet little doll To prove to the world – he was not scared at all! Buy Links: Amazon US ¦ UK MY REVIEW This was an interesting and cute bedtime story about young Dan, whose parents gift him a toy monster as a sign of showing him how proud they were of him that he was now sleeping on his own. When Dan goes for a drink one night, he returns to his room to find his toy monster gone, and in its place stood a giant monster that looked identical to his toy monster. This monster, it appears, swallowed Dan's monster so it could grow. After spewing out a series of identical-looking monsters, the giant monster returns Dan’s monster to him. This was an enjoyable read, and I loved the illustrations, so colourful and detailed. I will say that the idea of returning to one’s room to a monstrous surprise might intimidate children who are in fact terrified of sleeping on their own, so I’m not sure if the message of bravery and how to overcome one’s fear will relay well with or be well received by children of that mindset, but I do like how little Dan handled the dilemma he was facing. The fact that he demanded his toy monster back shows he had overcome his fear. Another good read by Adler. VERDICT Award: Silver Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars Source: Own copy
Anna Banana: Anna Finds a New Home Series: The Goodnight Monsters Bedtime Books Author: Sigal Adler Genre: Picture Book Publication Date: 20 September 2020 Book Description: ♥ Good Day or Bad Day – I Love You Anyway! ♥ The poor little thing, woke up very upset, thinking: “how much worse can it get?” But mom was in a hurry, and made it clear: “We have to go now, there’s no time, my dear.” That morning, mom had to say everything twice: “Please brush your teeth and wear something nice. Where are your shoes, you’re not ready at all…? Why did you pour so much milk in that bowl?” Buy Links: Amazon US ¦ UK MY REVIEW Another enjoyable book by Adler with wonderful illustrations and rhyme scheme. In this tale, our young monster isn't having such a good day, so he decides to throw tantrums and just be a tyrant as a means of getting through this long day, all the while not thinking about the effect his behaviour his having on his mother, who tries to keep her cool as she attempts to maintain discipline in her household. This is one we can all relate to, young and old, as we've all had one of those days we wish would just end so we can get back to a good day. Although we don't know the reason our young monster is having a bad day, we nonetheless see the effect on his mood and how the various emotions he goes through affects his mother's own mood and her feelings. This is a good lesson about unconditional love. It's a relatable story for both children and their parents. I would definitely recommend it for the whole family. The owner of the nursery, by the name of Mr. Scope, Was an older well-dressed goose, who often smelled of soap. He was holding some carrot seeds in two small packets, These are for a contest," he said to the rabbits." Who's the finest gardener? That's what I want to test," The one who grows the biggest carrot I say is the best. The winner will run the nursery–that's my prize to you, "While I travel round the world, my dream come true. The Carrot Race By Sigal Adler The two main characters, who happen to be rabbits named Ruth and Mark, both worked at a nursery, taking loving care of the plants. They had become friends. Above the green valley a warm sun was shining, Two rabbits who met there were cheerful and smiling. They were going to work, butterflies were everywhere Welcoming a new day, spring was in the air. "Good morning," said Rose, Who had glasses on her nose. "Good morning," answered Mark, Whose shining fur was dark. The two worked together, at the nursery over there, Giving all the plants and flowers tender loving care. The rabbit who wanted to be boss most was Rose, She and Mark soon became bitter foes. ~~~ Their boss was interested in going on a long vacation and wanted to promote one of them. To select that employee, he set up a competition to see who could grow the best carrot. The winner would become the new boss. A personal note--too often bosses take an easy way out so that they do not have to make hard decisions...after all, who really knows whether the best rabbit is selected based upon a contest??? Finally! A Children's Book that speaks out against competition--of placing individuals against each other in order to win! I believe we are creating a world geared toward selfish belief in yourself--providing a feeling that you must compete and win to be successful. This just isn't so! Adler uses poetic rhyming verse to tell her tale and quickly points out the result of being pitted against each other. Rose wanted to be promoted and she forgot about the fact that her competitor was a friend! Both worked very hard to care for their carrot, but Ruth was always comparing hers, making comments to Mark about surely winning... Did she? I was delighted with this story. With colorful bright animals and a simple race to grow a carrot, the author easily points out the problem when competition comes into play, especially between or among friends. The author successfully teaches an extremely important lesson to be learned by children and some adults alike. I recommend the book highly for your consideration. Nothing but flowers ******************* Late, late at night, when I just couldn't sleep I heard a noise outside, it sounded like a beep A flying saucer landed, and no, it was no joke: A little man emerged, who looked at me and spoke | Author: Sigal Adler | Publisher: Sigal Adler | Publication Date: Dec 17, 2017 | Number of Pages: 48 pages | Language: English | Binding: Hardcover | ISBN-10: 1947417142 | ISBN-13: 9781947417144
If you're like most people today, you know kids who don't like to read, or feel discouraged by how challenging it can be. Maybe even your own kids. And who can blame them? Today's world is full of stimulation, bright colors, TVs, computers, phones--and they all take up so much time in our lives that and as a result, our kids are reading less. But reading and interacting with the environment have been proven to have a powerful impact on children's educational attainments and even on acquiring basic life skills. So it's more important than ever today to help our kids love reading by themselves, even from the earliest stages. How can we teach kids to read? How can we help kids read better? And how can we instill a love of reading in today's kids so they'll want to read more and more? Sigal Adler has developed this interactive series, Everything I've Never Seen, out of the belief that despite the fact that the importance of rhyme isn't emphasized in schools when learning to read and write, this is a method which has come into use more and more over time. Children with dyslexia, for instance, find it much easier to understand words when they rhyme rather than dissecting them into letters and syllables. Meeting with children in kindergarten and the early grades, Sigal has met many children who have succeeded in learning to read and write thanks to rhyme. It's simple, enjoyable - and it works. Now you and your kids are invited to learn together... grow together... laugh together, as you explore the hilarious interactive world of Everything I've Never Seen | Author: Adler Sigal | Publisher: Sigal Adler | Publication Date: Jun 22, 2019 | Number of Pages: 42 pages | Language: English | Binding: Hardcover | ISBN-10: 1947417339 | ISBN-13: 9781947417335

I can not imagine any child not enjoying this wonderful story... imaginative, delightful and a lesson in manners included. I feel that any book for the younger children (in this case ages 2 to 7 and P to 2) should contain colorful illustrations, rhyme and have a lesson for the little ones that is educational. This one contains all three elements and even at my advanced age, thought it was indeed wonderful. An invite to the lion king's birthday party sets this one into motion. The animals are truly excited and of course, the next item for them to ponder is 'what gift should I bring'? You see this lion king is well-known for his roaring ability when he is not happy. The animals gather at the palace and the fun begins. Nice things to eat and games to play... Finally it is gift time. I love the fact that each animal gives a little speech and incorporates something about their species...For example, the stork says 'May you dive in the pond to catch the best fish'... Unfortunately, the lion king is only interested in the gift each animal brings. The turtle is last and he teaches the lion king good manners and patience... Not an easy task but this cute and adorable turtle manages to succeed. Just love these books as they teach a lesson in addition to the rhyming aspect and the colorful illustrations. Most highly recommended.
