This versatile sleeveless top will be equally at home at a music festival, a backyard barbecue, in a sidewalk café, or on an apartment terrace! The cable-accented V-neck, angled armholes and split back hem flatter many body types, and the wide ribbing can be blocked to the same circumference as the body, or allowed to pull in slightly, accenting the waist. Even though Della Mae is worked in a sock weight yarn, its slightly cropped length and shaped armholes make it a relatively quick project, and the cabled accents at center front and back keep the knitting process interesting, without requiring constant attention. Skill level: Intermediate; skills include reading a chart, cable knitting, working in the round, decreasing, 3-needle bind-off, and attached I-cord. Garment Measurements for sizes XS (S, M, L) (1X, 2X, 3X) Body circ: 31½ (35, 39½, 43) (47½, 51, 55½)“/80 (88.5, 100, 109) (120.5, 129.5, 141) cm Armhole depth: 7 (7½, 8, 8¼) (8¾, 9¼, 9¾)”/18 (19, 20, 21) (22, 23.5, 25) cm Total length: 19¾ (19¾, 20¾, 20¾) (20¾, 21½, 21½)“/50.5 (50.5, 52.5, 52.5) (52.5, 54.5, 54.5) cm Shown in Size S, with 2”/5 cm positive ease on model, and 1”/2.5 cm positive ease on mannequin. Yarn Super fine (#1) weight, 820 (900, 1050, 1140) (1250, 1390, 1510) yd/755 (830, 965, 1050) (1150, 1280, 1390) m. Shown in CoBaSi by HiKoo by Skacel (55% cotton, 21% elastic nylon, 16% viscose from bamboo, 8% silk; 220 yd/202 m to 1.75 oz/50 g), color #070 Carrot, 4 (5, 5, 6) (6, 7, 7) skeins. Needles US size 4/3.5 mm: 24-47” circular needle (cir), depending on selected garment size, for body; preferred style for small circumference knitting in the round, for armhole edging. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge. Notions Markers (m); cable needle; stitch holders; tapestry needle. Gauge 28 sts/38 rnds to 4”/10 cm in St st. Measure gauge on blocked swatch. Notes The waist ribbing is worked flat, then joined at the top of the ribbing, leaving an inverted-V-shaped opening in the ribbing at center back. The body is worked in the round up to the armholes; upper front and back are worked flat. The front and back “V” neck openings are shaped with decreases just outside the cabled accents; the back V-neck is more shallow than the front. Neck edges are self-finished. Shoulders are joined using 3-needle bind-off. Armhole edges are finished with attached I-cord.

"Thelma Todd's Sidewalk Café" was a restaurant Thelma Todd operated in partnership with Roland West and Jewel Carmen in Santa Monica, near the Pacific Ocean. Photo of the Sidewalk Café with steps indicated that led to the garage in which Thelma Todd's body was found. Although the restaurant was said to have been losing money at the time of Thelma Todd's death, Roland West continued to operate it for years afterwards. "Chez Roland", as it was then called, in 1949. Roland West left the Sidewalk Café to his widow, Lola Lane, who ended up giving the building to the Paulists, who used it as a center for the production of religious films. Utile worked with the City of Boston and the nonprofit A Better City to develop design and process guidelines for tactical activation of the public realm. The project began with an audit of existing City policies around parklets and sidewalk cafes, leading to an overhaul of the way the City approaches placemaking interventions in the public realm. To codify the new regime, Utile created a Tactical Public Realm Standards document which includes both design guidelines and a how-to guide to the process of implementing a plaza, parklet, outdoor cafe, or street mural.
