I am posting a new series in my Blog, my project in the Grand Park of Tirana. It started in 2018, and developed throughout the years during my walks in the Park, shooting first in digital, then in analog 35 mm film. In this Part, the photos of Spring / Summer Season.
This is another shot from my Southwest trip that I was just a little disappointed with. I decided to shoot in vertical format, to have the option of keeping the cloudless sky area of the image to a minimum. Shooting during twilight eliminates shadows which resulted in even light that revealed the canyon’s textures. In the end I could not complain, as it was a beautiful evening, and I had this special place all to myself. Camping in this remote area of Grand Canyon National Park was an amazing experience. This view is less than a mile from the trailhead; however the trailhead and campground is reached by driving off-road for about 62 miles, from the town of Fredonia, Arizona. The last few miles are much more challenging than the drive to Alstrom Point, and should not be attempted during wet conditions.
Copyright - All Rights Reserved - Black Diamond Images With some side detours the up to 14km round trip walk up to the Grand High Tops in the Warrumbungle National Park is well worth the effort and for that reason it is regarded in the top 10 walks in Australia. The walk departs from the Pincham Car Park with much of the track across Wallaby Flat beside the usually dry creek on level paved ground with gradual but increasing steepness till the stairs are reached. The last section which takes about an hour requires steep ascent of more than 500 steps with a final walk of about 30 minutes over very rough ground adjacent the Bread Knife before finally scrambling up to the Grand High Tops. Allow 4-5 hours minimum to do this 12.5km walk. The grade is marked as 'moderate to steep'. Once at the top the view is amazing with all the high peaks visible as far as Bluff Mountain, Mount Exmouth and Siding Springs Observatory while behind you is the impressive Crater Bluff. Directly below is the well named 'Breadknife' which can be seen in the near centre of this image. This walk is definitely not recommend for anyone with arthritis or fitness or mobility issues. Warrumbungle National Park is situated 35 km west of Coonabarabran and 80 km from Gilgandra in Central Western NSW. Access to the Park from Coonabarabran is by the bitumened Timor Road which becomes John Renshaw Parkway. There are many points of interest along the way including White Gums Lookout, Siding Springs Astronomical Observatory and a plethora of astronomical letterboxes, private astronomy telescope shelters and several large roadside educational astronomy billboards associated with Siding Springs Observatory. The Warrunbungles are considered one of the best night sky viewing points in Australia due to lack of nearby urban light pollution sources. More Images HERE

I was born and bred in Melbourne, Australia, but have based myself out of the USA for the last 20 months. My husband (Matthew) and I decided we needed to be back in Australia for some family commitments later this year. So the choices were either, 1. Take a few weeks leave from my day job (speech therapist), or 2. Quit my job, put our stuff into storage and travel for 6 months. I bet you can guess which one we chose?! An Olympic National Park getaway is the perfect 24 hour or weekend adventure from Seattle. Find out exaclty how to get there and what to do with your time!
Description The artworks in the exhibition lay out a vision of America from an African American viewpoint. These artists embrace many universal themes and also evoke specific aspects of the African American experience—the African Diaspora, jazz, and the persistent power of religion. The artists work in styles as varied as documentary realism, abstraction, and postmodern assemblage of found objects to address a diverse array of subjects. Robert McNeill, Richmond Barthé, and Benny Andrews speak to the dignity and resilience of people who work the land. Jacob Lawrence, Roy DeCarava, and Thornton Dial, Sr. acknowledge the struggle for economic and civil rights. Sargent Johnson, Loïs Mailou Jones, and Melvin Edwards address the heritage of Africa, and images by Romare Bearden recast Christian themes in terms of black experience. James Porter and Alma Thomas explore beauty in the natural world. All 100 artworks in the exhibition are drawn entirely from the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s rich collection of African American art. More than half of the featured works, including paintings by Benny Andrews, Jacob Lawrence, and Loïs Mailou Jones, and photographs by Roy DeCarava, Gordon Parks, Roland Freeman, and Marilyn Nance, are being exhibited by the museum for the first time, and ten works are recent acquisitions. The exhibition includes fifty-four photographs, which are incorporated into the display while also organizing the exhibition thematically. Individual object labels connect the artists and their works with the artistic, social, and contextual factors that shaped their creation. The exhibition is organized by Virginia Mecklenburg, chief curator.
