Rockpool - A celebration of the Humble Limpet Shell Limpet shells have always been one of my favourites. No two limpets are the same. The all differ so greatly in size, colour and pattern - I always find myself picking up yet another. This Rockpool is a perfect circle, made entirely out of Limpet shells, all in similar shades of brown, all of them absolutely stunning. This Rockpool of Limpets was crafted with love and attention. All shells are presented to you in their natural state, just how I found them on the beach. I have chosen to mount all the treasures on a white background. I spend a long time laying out the treasures first, matching colours, shapes and sizes. Once I am happy with the overall design, each piece is then carefully glued into place. This is an original piece of Art work - no two pieces will ever be the same. This Rockpool is a piece of art that would look lovely in any room of the house and would make a lovely gift for any seaside / beach lover. The black frame measures 45.5cm x 45.5cm (18inch x 18inch). The frame is glass fronted and can be hung on a wall. All beach treasures are mounted onto quality, white mounting board. The Rockpool will come to you, carefully wrapped in tissue paper, in a protective box. UK, SPECIAL DELIVERY, which is tracked and signed for and guaranteed the following working day, is FREE. Okay...there are a lot of these cute things sailing in the blogosphere (see examples) here, here, and here but someone asked me to make a tutorial on how I made mine, so here goes. First, find a piece of driftwood that gives the impression of a boat hull, and a stick long enough to make a mast proportional to the hull. Drill a hole midway large enough to accommodate the "mast" Glue the mast in the hole and let dry thoroughly Lay the boat assembly on a "doubled" piece of scrap fabric and draw the outline of your sails (easier this way to make sure the sails fit the shape and size of your "boat") cut out the sail 1/4" larger than your drawing and sew along your marks. Trim corners, turn right side out and press. Topstitch close to edge if you want. Using twine, or thread or kite string, "rig" your sails to the mast. I just pushed a darning needle through both layers of the muslin sail and tied a knot around the mast top and bottom.

A handmade seashell wind chime. Using natural wood stick for hanging. Something I picked on my many dog walks. Seashells have been picked from my trip to Cornwall last year. I used sealife napkins to decouple on the inner scallop shell. The edges are painted using gold leaf. All have been varnished for durability. These beautiful and truly individual wall or hanging outdoor windchimes are all handmade by me. These are natural scallops and the reverse is left natural. Each scallops are unique so no wind chimes are alike. Everything is upcycled
