Shasta Daisy (Leucanthemum x superbum) is an old-fashioned favorite for perennial borders and cut flowers. An incredibly versatile plant as it flowers in late spring/early summer in white or pale yellow and therefore complements many other colors and cottage favorites in the garden. Shasta Daisies are spectacular in a meadow, wildflower garden, or when cut for bouquets. Can also be grown in containers. Sow the seeds into containers outdoors or directly into the ground in after the last frost. The seeds need light to germinate and should be gently pressed into the soil but not covered. The seeds will germinate within 14 to 21 days if kept at 70°F in a bright spot. Garden Uses: Perennial borders, cottage gardens, meadows, wild gardens and herb gardens. Also effective in containers. Interesting addition to butterfly gardens. Little Mount Shasta Church with Mount Shasta in the distance. This was an exciting shot because we waited nearly an hour while the clouds totally obscured Shasta. We simply exercised faith that the clouds might clear before the sun set, and they did. The looming cloud above and the sheet of cloud across the base of the mountain were the remnants. 6/1/11 I have three perspectives now on Shasta and Little Shasta Church; with the church big and the mountain small; church and mountain roughly the same scale; and church big and mountain small. I use them in my photo classes to explain a less obvious factor in use of zoom: The relative distance to subject and background profoundly alters the story. I'd love to hear what people think of the different perspectives.

Alaska Shasta Daisy seeds grow into a perennial flower with pure glistening white flowers. Their long-lasting blooms and vivid color bring a bright, fresh look to your outdoor space that lasts all season long. These white daisies measure roughly four to five inches across with a beautiful, buttery yellow center. Each plant pushes up dozens of tall, sturdy stems from a clean, dark green bush. Alaska Shasta Daisy blooms the second season after sowing. Their classic aesthetic and lacy foliage make them an eye-catching addition to any garden!
These full sun perennials are all low maintenance plants with beautiful flowers that will thrive in full sun (even in the South!)
