Luminoso e aperto sul paesaggio, questo antico mas provenzale è situato in un piccolo villaggio nelle Alpilles. Sviluppato in altezza e appoggiato contro la roccia, offre una vista mozzafiato sulla campagna circostante. Grazie all'intervento dell'architetto Hugues Bosc e del paesaggista Thomas Genti

The city’s antique markets, centrally located and with lower prices than Paris or London, are full of everything you’ve ever—and never—wanted for your shabby-chic apartment. Don’t forget to bring a spare bag (or two)

A yearning for a different sort of life led one couple to relocate to the small French village of Bayet and turn a long-neglected structure into a family home with holiday lets. A wisteria vine drapes over the front door of Tanja Paff and Tim van de Tooren’s stone farmhouse, clusters of purple blossoms wafting

Brume matinale sur le jardin anglais...
Lots of photos following, so brace yourself. I decided to do a CQ block - in pink, monochromatic (mostly) - using all of the stitches I have learned in TAST so far plus a couple of extras. This is the resulting block. Notice I did not use one single bead! You have no idea how hard that was for me to avoid the temptation. Really! This is the naked block I started out with. Close-up of the center floral motif. First, let me point out I added some sheer floral printed fabric over a couple of the shiny sections. This one is gathered slightly. I left some of the satin show along the seam. This is a little darker area from the sheer and is over a darker pink. Again, the satin shows along the buttonhole stitch area. I will list the stitches from top to bottom rows on each of the following close-ups. Cretan, French knot, knotted Cretan, buttonhole wheel (1/2), chain, French knot, lazy daisy/detached chain: French knot, Herringbone (both light pink and dark pink rows), Algerian Eyelet, fern leaf: This is kind of mixed up, but there are SRE petal stitch flowers, lazy daisy flowers, French knots, bullion rose and stitch, stem stitch rose and stem stitch, spider web rose: Web is straight stitch with couched connections; spider is whipped wheel with a little satin stitching over body and straight stitch for extending legs: Basque, scroll stitch, butterfly chain, French knots and lazy daisy (detached chains), straight stitch, up and down buttonhole: (From left to right in pie-shaped section) - French knot, buttonhole wheel (1/4), lazy daisy, straight stitch, French knot, running stitch, crossed buttonhole, bonnet: (butterfly) satin stitch, chain stitch, Fly 'Y' stitch; (below butterfly and in no particular order) French knots, wheat ear, straight, lazy daisy, feather stitch (bottom): Wheat ear, back stitch: (lace is added) Barred chain, half chevron, oyster, chain, buttonhole: Chain (3 rows), zig zag chain, Palestrina, cable chain, Chevron: There! I think that should be at least 35 unless I left out a seam somewhere. I you don't get close to the same count, let me know. This was so much fun and I will likely do it again, using my tags for reference.
"Hearts and flowers, ribbons and lace, the look of love upon her face." ~Unknown Life has been so busy lately that I just haven't had time to do a proper post - the kind where I devote an entire afternoon to setting up and taking photographs. I miss it! So yesterday I MADE time so that I could take some pictures for you that I have been wanting to take for ages! I love ribbons, lace, trims, embroidery, fabric flowers, etc, etc (you probably already knew that!). I have amassed quite a collection now and have been so excited to share it with you. My Mum and I use some of these things to make the GILLYFLOWERS and others are being saved for that future special project. I dip into this supply and replace things all the time. Many of these trims come from France and Japan where some of the most beautiful ribbons I have found are made. My guilty pleasure now is to visit the little ribbon store in town and find something new for my collection. I have tried to display everything well and I hope that you enjoy this little perusal. I have also added a few new things to the Etsy SHOP so stop by and have a peek! Wherever you are I hope you are enjoying this beautiful Summer week! It has been awhile since I have joined in on Pink Saturday. I had run out of Pink inspiration, I hear you gasp, until I learned that one of my favorite shops had a new location. This is where I go when I want Pink inspiration. It's the Cat's Meow, a beautiful shop now in Ellenton FL, about a half hour trip from Tampa and owned by Mark and Susie Holt. Does Pink get any better than this??? I don't think so. This sofa is one of many of Susie's creations. She uses some of the prettiest fabrics and knows just what to mix and match to create some of the most beautiful slipcovers. How sweet is this room at the top of the stairs? Don't you just want everything here? Susie carries a beautiful line of bedding. It makes me want to redo my bedroom every time I visit as she mixes and matches her beautiful magic often on some of wonderful Beds that she sells in her shop as well. I love to zero in on all of the details of her decorating. Look at these lovely touches of pink. Look at the clothing hanging in the background too. She carries Magnolia Pearl clothing and some other romantic styles. From beautiful painting by Christie Repasy to wonderful old chippy paint furniture, Susie has everthing you will need to fill your house with Pink wonderment...is that a word? But she is not just about pink. Here is a wonderful antique green bedroom set with beautiful pink roses. Yes girls, I found my pink fix here and you can too. Whether to come visit her shop personally or shop online, you will not be disappointed. Just tell her Becky sent you. Please be sure to visit my other blog for more Pink. http://www.laceandlures.blogspot.com/ and then click on over to visit our wonderful host Beverly and all the other gals who love pink. http://www.howsweetthesound.typepad.com/. Hugs Becky
