A DIY how-to for making a galaxy print infinity scarf inspired by one of Celina's Pinterest boards.
I have to admit, hosting a Sewing for ME! series was a little (or a lot) because I knew that there would be so much I could learn from a series like this. And I have not been disappointed. Today's post by Ashley from Art with Ashley about how to make your own pattern blocks is

See my full disclosure policy here. The circle skirt has been on my to-do list since I saw it at MADE back in July. I got the idea to add ties from an old dress I have from Down East Basics. It finally made it off my to-do list and onto my sewing table last week. So, without any more delays, here is the tied Circle Skirt: And here's a quick how-to. Go here and follow the tutorial to get your circle cut out. I made the smaller circle (for my waist) smaller than Dana's tutorial because I used a knit fabric. Once you have your circle, fold and cut it into eights: Pin it back together, adding two ties along each seam line and sew it up: Go back to the original tutorial for directions on adding your elastic. I covered mine with the same fabric I used for the skirt rather than dying it. You can wear it without the ties, and it looks like the original, plus some seam lines. Or you can tie it up and wear it that way. Two skirts in one!

Onnea matkaan! ♥ Tarvikkeet: - noin 1 metri ohutta (esim. Taita nauha kuvan osoittamalla tavalla V:n muotoon. Ompele muutamalla pistolla nauha tähän asentoon. Tee tämä sama molemmille pätkille. Tämän kikan avulla nauhat asettuvat kauniimmin kaulaa vasten. Tarkistus 2 Sinulla pitäisi nyt olla tämännäköiset osat: - pitkä pätkä nauhaa, päät muotoiltuna käärmeenkieliksi - Kaksi lyhyempää nauhan pätkää, ohut sekä paksu, päät muotoiltuna käärmeenkieliksi sekä ommeltuna V:n muotoon - 4 cm pitkä pätkä, päät muotoiltu tasaisiksi - 2 ommeltua lenkkiä, 1 ohuesta ja 1 paksusta nauhasta. Rusetin lenkkien muotoilu sekä tampin paikoilleen ompeleminen Ota ompelemasi lenkit sekä 4 cm tasapäinen pätkä, josta siis tulee rusetin tamppi. 1) Aseta pienempi lenkki isomman päälle niin, että lenkkien ommellut kohdat jäävät rusetin nurjalle puolelle. Mallaa myös tamppi oikealle kohdalle. 2) Ompele tamppi kiinni nurjalta puolelta. 3) Valmis rusetti näyttää oikealta puolelta tältä. Rusetin alanauhojen kiinnitys kaulan ympäri kiertävään nauhaan Ota pisin pätkä nauhaa. Taita se kahtia, jotta saat selville nauhan keskikohdan. Voit halutessasi myös merkata keskikohdan lyijykynällä. 1) Ota sitten V:n muotoon ommellut nauhat. Kertokaa minulle mielipiteenne. ♥ Translation: This is a tutorial about my Rococo inspired choker. It's only in Finnish, and I am very sorry - but I just couldn't bring myself to translate this wall of text. :D

Today, I have some absolutely beautiful and charming images to share with you. If my daughter was younger, I would turn these into canvas prints for her wall, but she's more into band posters than 1900's images, so I hope some of you will find something beautiful to use them on. I think these would also make lovely gift tags, cards, or transferred to fabric for pillows. These images were part of this page from an early 1900's magazine, showing

It was 40 degrees this morning, so I started pulling out the winter outerwear. In with it was a wind jacket I bought at a yard sale this summer. When I tried it on & extended my arms, it looked like this: That won't do! I really love the jacket, and didn't want to have to throw it in the donate pile just yet, so I decided to extent the arms. This is great for kid's jackets, to make them last another season, while making them a little more fun. I love that you never have to search for mittens at the last minute... they are built in! Here comes the tutorial! This was a hard one to describe the steps, but hopefully the pictures will help clear up any confusion. What you'll need is a jacket, and 2 long felted sweater cuffs that go well with the jacket. First, turn your jacket inside out. Now place a cuff in a sleeve, so your cuff seam is against the sleeve. Line up the cuff seam with the jacket seam, so the seam of the cuff will be on the underside when you are wearing the jacket. Now tuck in a little bit (about an inch) of the jacket sleeve inward. Now start to sew the cuff to the jacket's inside lining. You will have to feel along as you go, so you aren't sewing through to the outside layer of the jacket as well. That way, there will be no seam on the outside of the jacket. When you are done, it should look like this: Repeat the process to the other sleeve, and flip everything right side out. Now figure out where your thumb should be, and cut a small slit there. Now you have built in fingerless gloves! fold them back once, and you have extended cuffs. It kind of looks like you are wearing a sweater under it.

Lovely to work with, this Knit Elastic is soft and very stretchy. It also is quite thin, making it great for so many projects. I use this when constructing childrens clothing, hair accessories, crafts.....so many uses. Definitely a staple in my sewing room! Knitted elastic retains its shape and stays flat when stretched. This light-weight, knitted elastic is similar to braided elastic but does not narrow when stretched. Can be used on the outside of garments as well as in casings. Machine wash only, do not dry clean.
